  • Hi! I've just started the 5:2 diet and joined this group! Day one is almost over.. Looking forward to eating normally tomorrow!!
  • I do pump twice a week along with other cardio classes and my own weight routine but I don't see why doing two in a row would be a problem! I'd probably push myself on the first class in terms of weights used then maybe stay a little lighter on the second go. I prob wouldn't try three in a row though! Body Pump can be…
  • FR sent :)
  • I know a lot of people don't agree with HRMs but for me it works - my figures aren't off the MFP calculations and I usually subtract 100 calories from the figure to compensate for any discrepancies. I find I can burn up to 800 calories an hour in some classes (Body Combat and Box Fit are my highest calorie burners) and as…
  • Hey! I'm not at advanced level but am working towards a very toned physique and looking for support and advice from like minded people who take fitness seriously! Feel free to add me :) (that goes for anyone else who sees this post also). - Laura
  • [/quote] This is what I did. I used MFP's NEAT method and ate back my exercise calories when I was trying to lose. When I got to my goal weight, I switched to TDEE and just used my own history as a guide. I still ended up losing a bit more than expected because I didn't trust my numbers and by the time I actually increased…
  • Thanks so much for all your advice and info. I think if my exercise was consistent I'd follow the TDEE but my weeks vary so much! This week I've been a machine! Regarding my HRM - can anyone give me a reason as to why they might not be reliable for HITT training? I have a Polar F4 if that helps. I have been feeling so…
  • I've tried a few different formulas and they're all pretty similar. Most of them give me a TDEE of 1800 calories and in actual fact this is pretty much where I'm finishing most (exercise) days anyway - even if my calories lost is a bit higher. I don't use any of the apps for calories loss, I just go off my HRM. I'm…
  • I totally agree with that. It happened to me once - had a huge gym session planned so ate like a king then last minute ended up working really late and felt guilty all night. I generally tend to gain my apatite in the evening so I try to save my extra calories for after my gym sessions now so that doesn't happen! But I…
  • I know exactly what you mean. Today was my first rest day since I began eating back exercise calories and I really struggled to keep within my calorie allowance! But maybe it's worth sticking with for now. I will definitely go back to TDEE once I'm at maintainance!
  • Yeah my exercise varies also - some weeks I can do 5 days of HIIT and the best it will just be one or two and maybe a run. I always worry that I will end up over eating on the weeks where I don't burn as much :-/
  • I use my HRM for everything! I didn't know it wasn't designed for HITT.. Oops! But when I'm logging and eating back the calories I always round down and generally don't manage to eat all the calories back - usually there's a few hundred left. Seems a bit pointless really doesn't it!
  • Some good info here, and like people have said, you need to weigh and log EVERYTHING you are eating. However... Having said that, are you measuring yourself too? I didn't lose a single pound for the first 4 months that I started on my fitness quest and to date (it's been almost a year) I've only lost FOUR POUNDS. Granted I…
  • Almost a year and 3 whole pounds!! ;) But I've lost inches and a noticeable amount of body fat plus I'm building muscle so I try not to let it get me down - the results are there just not on the scales for me. I'm hoping that one day it will just happen, lol!
  • I agree with all the great comments above! Personally I find high intensity training really works for shredding the unwanted fat and toning - I've noticed a huge difference in terms of inches lost and my fitness level. I'd start slow and ease into it. If you're a member of a gym check out their HITT classes - Tabata,…
  • Back and arms!! Sooooo fustrating - the fat is very stubborn there! I'm like a carrot
  • I find this too - why is the fat not melting off quicker when I'm below my calories! I started to wonder if maybe it was because I was actually under eating? I'm only hitting my BMR calories so I'm going to (reluctantly) try eating a bit extra for a week and see if that makes any difference. Hopefully I won't put on any…
  • Vegetarian sausages! I find the best ones are Quorn Lincolnshire ones - low fat and carb, 120 calories for 2 and around 10g of protein! Plus they taste pretty good too :)
  • Thank you will have a look now!
  • Congrats to you!! I'm having a similar issue with weight loss - only managed to budge 3 pounds in 4 months BUT I'm losing inches all over and can see myself becoming more defined. I know people say it's the inches that matter and not the scales but it's a TAD annoying when the scales don't reflect the results. Anyway I've…
  • Thank you for all the advice :)
  • Oh and I'm not sure if it's worth noting that I have lost 3 inches off my waist so far so I know I'm doing something right, I just don't know why the scales aren't reflecting that!?
  • Thank you! I will invest in some kitchen scales pronto and see how it goes! :)
  • I don't weigh using scales, I tend to go off packaging or individual items. For example this evening I had a chicken breast, there was 2 in a pack and the pack weighed 300grams so I estimated my chicken at 150g and that's pretty much how I count! I wouldn't weigh a banana, I'd just go off the average calorie contents of a…
