  • Did W1D1 last night. I'm once again out of shape! I made it, but it was tough. My armpits are killing me today from the pushups... no pain no gain! Great job ladies!!
  • I am starting tonight as well! How cool to see a group formed the day I decided to do this. I'll get my measurements when I get home.
  • You can totally see a difference! Congratulations on your wonderful attitude of the slow and steady method. To me, that's the best way to be and keep it off. You're doing great!!
  • I tried it several years ago, and then just quit. I wasn't mentally ready. This July I was ready and while it was still tough at times, I pushed through and graduated. You can do it if you want it. It's really the best approach to running I've ever found. Best of luck!! Oh, by the way, the thing that helped me push…
  • Depends on what you mean by "results". I'm still a short chubby little thing and therefore am not a fast runner. I graduated the C25K and my best time so far is only 38:17 for a 5k. But I'm cool with it, the fact that *I* can run for 3.11 miles is my great result because I've always wanted to become a runner. Hang in there…
  • I don't know about other Polar models, but the Polar FT4 does not sync. I have looked at the WahooFitness and it syncs through bluetooth (I believe) with your iphone. I had already purchased my Polar HRM before I ever thought about having it all sync together. Which would be a nice feature to have!
  • Polar is probably what you'll hear most. I purchased my Polar FT4 on Amazon(cheaper than Polar's website). It comes with the chest strap. I think the Polar FT7 has some more bells & whistles, but for calorie burn, knowing my heart rate, and being able to look back at my historical data is all I need. On a side note... My…
  • Couch to 5k. Google it or download the app. It's been the best thing I've ever found to become a runner! 8 weeks ago I couldn't run for 60 seconds. Now I'm run every other night and I absolutely love it. Be aware... it can get addicting.
  • It's the best addiction I've ever had....and I love it!:drinker:
  • NOPE! Like others have said, there are days when having something "special" is what motivates me to get my exercise in. I'd rather be that way instead of my old ways where I ate something "special" every dang day with no exercise and got to the unhealthy weight I'm at now.
  • Haha! Thank you for that encouragement. Pretty much everyone else I know (in my neck of the woods) that runs can do it well under my time so I've been basing my results on them... I shouldn't do that I guess.
  • Thank you all so very much! I am a slow little turtle out on my back country roads, but I don't care to much about that yet. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself fitness and self-esteem wise. It's really made me overall *feel* better. I will take all of this advice in and look for some cross-training and core…
  • :flowerforyou: Happy Birthday T!!! You definitely deserve all this celebration. I know you will do it and I am so proud of your accomplishments. Thank you for sharing, it reminds us all that we need to celebrate the little NSV's all the time because they add up.
  • Just to give a perspective from a newer runner.... Fitness level: Novice! Mileage per week: 9 1/2 to 12 1/2 Length of time running: 8 weeks I have one more day of Couch to 5k. I like to get a 5k+ in each workout. I can run two straight miles, walk a 1/4 mile, then run the remaining 3/4 (and a smidge) to finish out the 5K…
  • Definitely take some measurements! I had about 3 weeks where the scale wasn't really moving after I began really running. I got out the tape measure and realized I had lost 2 inches off my thighs. 2 inches!!! I was ecstatic!
  • Yep! I got a double ear infection and lost an entire week. I picked right back up (with W5D3 even!) and haven't missed a beat since. I think letting your body heal properly actually makes you a better runner. I'm into week 7 now and don't see any signs of stopping. Let yourself heal and then get back to it. Even if you…
  • WOOHOO!!! It's a great feeling isn't it!
  • I'm in week 7, but I wanted to say you've got friends here! Congratulations and keep at it!
  • Helps build your speed is what I've gathered from it. I wanted to just keep going considering I've accomplished the 20 minute run, but I then remembered it was a slow speed during those 20 minutes. Dont' worry, the intervals are going to go away soon enough. Enjoy them while you can!
  • LOL! Poop talk isn't a problem. Happens to the best of us. How long have you been stalled? A week? A month? Did you reset your MFP daily goals to take into account your activity level? If you're doing the C25K you're no longer sedentary, which was something I had trouble adjusting to. As for me, when I stalled and upped my…
  • Excellent!!! And kudos to you for not getting hung up on the mileage. Congrats again RUNNER you did it!!
  • Definitely let us know! Don't get to intimidated by it. The worst that happens is you can't do it and you try another day. :)
  • iphone C25K app from ZenLabs (free!) and Nike+Running app that logs my mileage (also free!).
  • I know you *should* get properly fitted, but like you said you don't exactly live close to a running specialty shoe store. I'm the same way. I haven't had any issues with my Nike's yet, but I know eventually I will make the trip and get properly fitted, because I intend to stick with this. I figure if the shoe is…
  • Ditto this. Week 5 is more about endurance, NOT speed. I don't even know what speed I did it at because I run outdoors, but I remember it being more about learning to control my breathing and to perservere through the length of time. Speed will come in due time. Repeating days though isa good idea when you know you aren't…
  • It's a great feeling isn't it?! Good for you and thanks for sharing your success with us. Now go out and there and kick the rest of it's @$$. Are you signed up for a 5k yet?
  • I don't know if it's proper or not, but I'm out in the country on back roads... so I spit when I need to. :) Sometimes you just get so much saliva that you have to.
  • Yay!!! This is so beautifully written. I'm so happy for you!
  • this is awesome!!!! Congratulations!!
  • I had just finished my 5th week and was starting my 6th the day of my 5K. Obviously I couldn't run the whole thing, but I had built up the endurance to complete the 3 miles and it felt awesome. Glad you came back to do it again... Signing up for the 5K really does give you the incentive to get out there and stick to it. Be…
