  • Yep! You don't need to work out to lose weight, so not doing cardio won't hurt anything. However, if you feel hungry and don't want to lose more slowly (which it sounds like you might want to look into, maybe 1lb/wk now that you're close?) getting 10,000 steps in adds an easy 300 calories a day for me. So it's not…
  • I usually log it, but I still get what I want. If I want a burger and fries, I'll get it, but it might mean I don't eat for the rest of the day, and may need to lower my calories for the next couple of days to even things out. I rarely eat out though, so I consider it a treat and get something I like rather than get a…
  • Fitbit Zip and One can both be worn on your bra or pants, so they're not visible. It's not going to do the work for you, obviously, but I think it certainly helps. Since the only real exercise I do is walking, it's really easy to see an accurate calorie burn at the end of the day with my Fitbit. Seeing my step count and…
  • That's true. Maybe it's a signal when MFP keeps telling me 1200 calories, even though I've lost weight (not adjusting downwards after you lose so many pounds like it normally does). Clearly to truly lose 2/wk I'd have to eat less, it just doesn't want me to. Which means I'm not really losing at 2/wk anyway, so I might as…
  • I'm an overweight vegetarian because I like cheese, bread, pasta, etc. and had no concept of counting calories or moderation until recently. Vegetarian does not mean that someone only eats vegetables, or that they care about their health. Now that I am eating in moderation, I still don't eat tons of veggies. I still eat…
  • Right, I realize that I'm in full control of how quickly I decide to lose. I was just wondering if there was anything like a guideline for when to switch, since, for example, if someone wants to lose 10lbs and goes for 2/wk, they're told they're going too fast. Where's the cutoff for too fast? At the end of the day if it's…
  • I love my Zip, I wear it on my bra and I've never noticed it miscounting. When I got it I was very critical and tested it a lot, and found it to be very accurate. Yeah, it's a pedometer, and it doesn't have most of the extra functions the more expensive Fitbits have. My exercise is walking though, so a pedometer is a good…
  • No, I wear pretty light shorts and tank to bed and weigh right after I use the bathroom in the morning. Since I wear the same thing every night I still get an accurate trend, and it's really not enough clothes to make a difference of more than a pound or so, if that. Stripping down just to get dressed 30 seconds later is…
  • Also, sometimes it's the opposite; the graph page is incorrect right now while the main page and widget are currently correct. I would just really like it to all consistently work! I have a zip and a Samsung Note III.
  • Got a new scale last night and had to finally accept that my old one weighed me 10lbs lighter than reality. So I've still lost weight, but at the same time jumped up 10lbs. >< On the plus side, my pants are getting looser every day now!
  • If I get enough protein I usually don't get too hungry for a while.
  • I consider it exercise. You get exercise calories from walking, so why not? Especially at 10,000 steps, that's an extra meal you've just earned, or if it doesn't make you hungry, extra weight gone.
  • Same here, I synced up and use MFP for food and just let Fitbit do its thing every day. Fitbit will give you more calories to eat only if you've earned them, and you'll still be at a deficit if you've set Fitbit up correctly. What's great is that everywhere I've read people generally consider Fitbit to be better at…
  • Last semester I was easily getting over 10,000 a day, but this semester my schedule is completely different (plus not wearing my Fitbit for a LONG time) I was shocked that I was down to around 3,000 steps a day. I got myself back into gear and decided to get 10,000 every day! Boy did that fail quickly. I got about 5-6,000…
  • MFP gave me 1220 to lose 2lbs a week; I'm 5'9'' so it's not like I'm tiny. I lost 40lbs and felt fine. If I felt hungry I exercised and was able to eat more. It's not as outrageous as people make it out to be. If you want to use MFP's calculations but don't feel you're eating enough, either move more or lose weight at a…
  • I underate by a couple hundred calories for two days and then had ~400 extra yesterday. Instead of having it show I went over I split it up and added the food to the low days. In the grand scheme of things it's still a deficit but I felt like I was cheating haha.
  • Well then it's a good thing I have decent shoes on their way in the mail. Thanks!
  • What kind of options does the truck stop have? I usually find gas station foods easier to keep track of calorie-wise. They also usually have veggie-trays and salads and fruit. ETA: Have you thought about packing a dinner? It's usually cheaper, healthier (depending on what you pack, of course), and you get more unwinding…
  • Wow, I didn't expect so many responses, thank you all! Glad to see I seem to be somewhat average, though I'm going to try to cut down some still.
  • If it's not even making it past your throat then it's likely mental. Your body's not rejecting anything because you're not letting the food get far enough for your body to make that decision. It honestly sounds like you might just be a picky eater? To answer your question so I'm not just a nagger; yes, find out through MFP…
  • As it says in the main post, I'll adjust it down the road, but for right now it's my base, which I add exercise calories to. It's worked just fine for me before.
  • Have you ever had grits? It's the same thing. Similar in texture (depending on how you make it) to grainy mashed potatoes. I like to add cheese, it's very good.

  • The powder I use has a smaller scoop than I usually see and its serving size is two, but I agree, I'll try one at first. I have tried it with oatmeal and I do like that! The strawberry Quik sounds great as well. Thanks for the suggestions!
  • I recently got on the overnight oats train and I'm liking them. Especially since I don't have to do anything but grab them in the morning and leave since you make it the night before. There are a ton of different recipes, so I'd recommend just doing a quick search on Google or YouTube, but this is my favorite so far: 1…
  • I've got the clip (can't remember if that's the actual name). I clip it to my bra and I've found it to be accurate as far as steps go. Thanks for the responses, everyone. It's very helpful!
  • That's the one I'm leaning more towards, though it won't take into account the physical labor, but I think I'll get over that. From what I can tell, the only difference between the Zip and the wristbands is that the Zip doesn't monitor your sleep. I don't need that anyway, and their other device does stairs, but I don't…
  • I don't think it's dehydration.
  • Edit: never mind, didn't read the post well enough, haha.
  • Those two programs are really different. The people who did P90X did one called Power 90, and I'd compare that more to 30 Day Shred. It's a little less than an hour a day for 90 days, and the workouts are more like 30DS (I've done 30DS and Power90, but not P90X). I personally like Power 90 better. I liked 30DS because I…
