I started at 225 and I'm at 157. I will probably go until about 130 or 140. It's tempting to shoot for 125 just for the even hundred, but that would put me about 3lbs away from underweight. I started with calorie counting, and that is still the main driving force. I have never aimed for healthier food unless I wanted it, I…

I have not! A little scared to. Have you?

It's a flavored water. I don't eat meat, but I see what you mean.

What activities are you wanting to monitor? I love my Fitbit (currently the Alta) but I do step-based activities and don't need HR numbers.

There's an LGBT+ group if you scroll to the bottom of the boards and search. The last time I checked it wasn't super active, though (but it's been a while). I'm not super active chit-chat wise, but feel free to add me if you want more friends. :) Also, this is one of those threads where it's really hard to tell if people…

It looks like the recommended article list is only 3 or 4 long, so after the first couple of paragraphs it's safe. I don't know if maybe it recommends random articles so it showed you something different? I'm just glad I was in the back room!

FYI, don't open at work. One of the linked articles in the side bar is about Avengers sex toys and has them in the picture. :D

If you're not losing weight then you're definitely not in too much of a deficit.
-
If it ends up working for you, great, but to me it sounds like a recipe for failure and a quick way to an unhealthy fasting/binging habit.

Thanks! How would you compare that soreness to a day of running when you're super fatigued? I guess I'd probably prefer to be dragging than in pain.

I just got the Bose Soundsport and I'm pretty happy with them. They don't go all the way into your ear canal, which I like, and they're pretty comfortable and don't fall out during my runs (though I do adjust them when I get sweaty). I got the wireless ones that are still corded, but they make a true wireless as well.

I just log it like normal. Popular chains make it easy since they probably have calorie information available, but if not it's not that hard to find an equivalent in the system. Sometimes if I know I'm going to have my favorite meal at a Mexican restaurant I like, which I know is pretty much a day's worth of calories in…

I'm a little more than halfway through my own 30 day push-up/squat challenge (the day I heard that sit-ups weren't great was a really good day). Squats are going well enough that I wonder if I'm doing them wrong, but push-ups are still meh. The last few days I've felt like I'm getting better with the push-ups, but my goal…

If we take it off it can't soak in. I'm meaning that if the chicken is say 9oz and the package says that weight should be 400 calories (I'm pulling these numbers out of my *kitten*) and we remove a tbsp of fat before cooking, can we then say that chicken is 285 cals? That would account for any soaked in fat since we're…

We don't have a scale right now unfortunately or that's what we'd do.

I would definitely look into other reasons it might have gone down. It sounds like you have two main questions: Why did my levo dose go down when there have been no perceivable changes in any area of my life? And Why is my maintenance 600 over the typical statistic for my age/weight/height/gender? I don't think they…
-
So because my experience doesn't match what you're wildly guessing should happen, it's incorrect? I've taken levo for years and I've gone through loss and maintenance stages of weight loss for years. The levo has never had any perceivable influence on my calorie expenditure, and it shouldn't. That's just not what it does.…

I asked my doctor about it for weight loss and she gave it to me for depression instead. It has the benefit of treating depression without the typical side effects. I don't, however, get the energy boost some people get right after taking it. It does give me enough energy that I feel like a normal person throughout the…
-
I don't see why your calorie goal would change. What do you think the levo is doing that would allow you to eat 'more' than you think you should be able to? The only thing that would make sense is that having a correctly functioning thyroid often gives you more energy than you had before, and thus you burn more calories,…

Another vote for C25K. There are apps that will chime and tell you when to switch, if you're interested. Otherwise the beginning, at least for me, would have been too distracting with math. It was much easier just to listen to the app's instructions. It didn't disrupt the music/whatever else. Also, instead of repeating…

Thank you both!

There are tanks that are designed to be skin tight, and tanks that are super flowy, regardless of size. I'd just like one that fits like a t-shirt. I think I saw it called something like 'mid-fit' but I can't remember. I'll look into those, thank you!

@sijomial Thank you! That helps a lot.

Can someone explain this? I'm having trouble understanding that my 3.5mph run would be equivalent to someone else's 8mph run of the same distance. Is it just that they would finish faster?

What about a bracelet or keychain? If you search "accountability bracelet" or "habit tracking bracelet" or even "golf bracelet" on Etsy you'll get a bunch of results. These two shops have a few: KHanischArt (I will admit this one is mine! We were just talking about these on a FB group so I put some up yesterday. Good…

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12389870 This article seems to state that the studies linking carrageenan to inflamation were either using amounts that far exceed what we actually would ever consume, or that they were using a variation not actually used in food.

Speed up weight loss by eating less or moving more (or both).
-
I lost around 30lbs with just eating at a deficit, no exercise other than whatever walking the day required. I did eventually get to the point where I would have to eat less than I was comfortable with to keep losing, so I started walking more to 'earn' more calories. If you can eat on a -1000 deficit (or whatever number…
