Brought up in N.E. Wisconsin, lived in So Cal for 20 years, back in N.E. Wisconsin for last 4 years. Loving the winter, need more snow.

Wow, y'all sound like you're almost dead. Listen to your body, let it heal and do things that don't aggravate, but keep doing. Strength training is a great thing. As an almost 60 yr old woman, a cancer survivor, among other life "stuff", it's all great. Life is great! Just be smart and realistic.

Eat a couple yolks, it won't raise your cholesterol. My family is high also. Eat different foods than eggs every day. You're eating plenty of calories if you are trying to lose weight.

Thanks Ted! So many haters when it comes to "food talk". I stay informed and read everything I can. Looks like you do, also. Stress is another factor and I think I will walk away from this forum and instead, walk in the beautiful sunshiny eighteen below morning.

Eat the right carbs, proteins and fats. Watch the quantity. Move! There's the key to healthy living and an outcome in your later years that has you with your memory and the ability to move around with ease. If you are just eating for your weight, wise up. It's taken me most of my life to figure that out. Someone said,…

It's pretty friendly. There are all types of people on here like any other chat forum. I've been on MFP for a couple years and have made a few real friends and come on here to chat once in a while. Lots of advice, some good, some not so good, some pretty radical. For me, it's a no brainer most of the time. Eat the right…

Okay, nobody wants to hear this but, sitting is the new cigarette. I wouldn't worry as much about the number of steps as I would about just getting up and doing something every hour. Get in some cardio and weight training before or after work. I have a stand up desk and can get in steps that way. When I am sitting for…

Good morning, ladies! I wrote my first post last night and didn't really get to read many of your posts. This is like having a bazillion sisters and all are different. Best part is you all actually interact. My sisters are too busy the last couple years. I left my marriage of 34 yrs in 2011. Moved from So Cal to NE WI,…

Hey all, Deb here from NE Wisconsin. I am a little over 3 months away from 60, time flys, huh? I don't do goals anymore, they seem to sabotage my efforts. I know I want to lose the 25 lbs I gained after getting a divorce and moving from So Cal back to Wisconsin in 2011. I know I need to continue with my walking and add…

I'm sure you have your answer by now, so I will not suggest. These forums are if nothing else, interesting. You have the trolls and then the innocent ones getting upset over what the trolls spout. They want nothing else but to get a rise out of you for their own narcissistic pleasure.

I didn't go to college but did gain 20 pounds in the next 2 yrs. I ate more than I did before, drank beer and although I didn't sit around, I probably didn't move as much as I did in H.S. It's called the college 10 or 20 or whatever so many kids gain. Even now, with a couple beers I know what the scale will say. Eat good,…

My sister lost 89 pounds in 2012. She named it The Year of "her name". She exercised everyday, although I don't think that was smart. She just had a knee replacement from too much of the wrong exercise at her weight. She was over 300 lbs at one point. She also got herself a personal trainer for a few months. I think it was…

There is so much new info out there online regarding sitting too much. Make sure you get up at least every hour and do something. When you get home, take a walk and make sure you get some resistance and strength training in. I don't live near a gym so we have free weights and many trails to walk/run. We also started a low…

Make sure you are eating enough fat. Too many carbs/sugars and you can hit the wall after eating. I switched to a low carb, medium protein, high fat diet and I don't have that fatigue anymore and am losing weight. I watch calories, fat, protein, carbs and calcium in my diet. Oh, by the way, fat does not make you fat! There…

I've been trying every food I could since I was a kid and can't think of anything I hate. There were a few that took some getting use to but I eat them today. My 7 siblings are so picky, it's hilarious to me and also sad that they "decide" they can't eat something because of trying it and hating it.

Natural almond or peanut butter is my go to for a snack. Fat is your friend people, carbs/sugar (too much glucose) are not.

No, not if you are on Paleo. After weight is gone I will eat some but not as much as is recommended. You don't need it.

This is a life style so you need to figure it out, now. Spinning 20 minutes a day is nice but include lifting some weights, it's fun and works so well. Find things you like to do and do them. Do you really want to weigh your food for the rest of your life? Figure out proportions and it will come to you after a bit. Eat…

Only bad (visible) tattoos matter. If you came in for an interview with a poorly done/stupid tat visible, I've already decided that you don't have good enough judgement to work for me This!

There is nothing feminine about them but a lot of the women (and men) from this generation don't care about women looking feminine. I totally love looking at women who are covered with them, though. I have friends and nieces with them and don't like them. My son has his arms covered with them, like em. Don't like random…

The New Rules of Lifting Supercharged is a great book written by guys who know what they are talking about. I didn't read all the replies, so don't know if anyone else recommended it. Squats are great!! The programs are simple and laid out for you. They illustrate everything. I don't live near a gym so free weights and no…

Bump. Too late to read. Very interesting, though.

Moved back from So Cal to this beautiful snowy land of NE WI, I love it! Living in Mountain area. I have been running this winter on these snowy roads and trails. I bit too icy to run too fast or too far but I just slow down or walk. I don't live close to a gym so have started lifting in the cabin. Challenging to say the…

I did the c25k last year, loved it. I was ready for a May 5K. Registered for same race this year and am doing c25k again. I live in NE Wisconsin and have no city streets, just country roads. Ice and snow is my life right now so I do it carefully, sometimes trails. I run in the 5 finger vibrams w/wool socks. Dress for how…

Same question as Fantasminha. What do you do for exercise? Do you have access to a pool? How's your diet?

What is the purpose of doing so many and doing them 3 days in a row. Makes more sense and is better for your muscles to do fewer w/weights every other day. I know it sounds good to do so many and increase them but it isn't the best way. Good luck, though.

I have only recently started eating bread again. I find that one slice a day or a few a week doesn't hurt but I do not have any allergies. I just cut them out, if I needed something I would use the low carb wraps/tortillas but pretty much put all my food in a bowl. I rarely eat pasta, I gain weight looking at it. I do have…

Looks like a healthy breakfast to me. I wouldn't have the potatoes, though.
