Ok all of you starvation deniers are missing the point of the site. It is not the actual WEIGHT LOSS. It is called my FITNESS pal. If you regularly go below 1200 caloies you can not in any way get enough protein (which repairs muscle) carbs (which supply energy) and good fats (ESPECIALLY for women). It is IMPOSSIBLE. Every…

Impossible to answer that question, BUT smoking is more deadly than any other thing you can legally put in your body for most people. If you are 900 pounds and smoked one cigarette a month, you are not doing well. If you smoked 3 packs a day and are 10 pounds over weight, you are doing fantastic.

You do not give enough information to give any real advice. When you say progress is slow what are your expectations? Are you losing a half pound or pound a week? Are you trying to lose more than that? Are you losing sizes? These are important questions. If you are working out and shifting weight from fat to muscle that is…

Protein plus bar. Each bar has 300 calories and 6 grams of fat.

For losing my first 50 pounds at 2# per week I was at 1800 per day. The final 10 pounds I have increased my intake so I only lose 1# a week to 2000. Once I am at my target weight I will go to around 2300-2400. As the weather gets nicer I will also be much more active since I can walk outside and do many things that I…

Weight is not the number to judge things by (unless you are in a morbidly obese state). The idea is to reapportion your body. If your clothes fit better, or you need a smaller size count that as your victory. Realize that waist, arm, wrist, neck hip and all your other measurements matter as much as the scale.

I tend to munch on broccoli, carrots and cauliflower when I am in mindless eating mode on a weekend. I budget in alcohol consumption so I am not depriving myself. When I was in major lose mode I would allow 6 drinks per week. Now that I am 5 pounds from my goal, i have upped the number to 10. If you are a person who has an…

This is only common sense. I never see overweight or obese people who are in TRUE malnutrition starvation mode. Weight loss and health are simple. Your body needs to have a certain amount of nutrients (protein, carbs, vitamins, minerals and fat) to thrive. The theory is that you can lose weight on a myriad of diets, BUT…

http://vegetarian.about.com/od/maindishentreerecipes/r/mushroomfajitas.htm Great recipe. Two of the fajitas are 302 calories, but this includes sour cream. I generally have three for my dinner and use salsa instead of sour cream anyway. Sometimes I will also use tofu for more protein

I do not think in terms of a time. My rule of thumb is 3 hours before I go to bed. Your body does not know what time it is, if you eat at 10 pm but stay up until 4 am, it is no different than if you eat at 6 pm and go to bed at midnight.

Do not look at it as a day to day thing. I suggest weighing yourself weekly at the same time. I tend to do Monday mornings at 7 am. Women in child bearing years will have to look at in more like monthly. Do not confuse the weight number with your health. Look at your waist and other sizes. As an example, Tom Brady, a…

Taubes and all the Atkin disciples types are not only frauds, but dangerous to people's health. You were overweight. DId you get that way from too much fruit and vegetables? I doubt it. The other issue I take is losing weight is NOT the only goal of the foods you eat. It is to get all the proper nutrients. The fact he…

I tend to stop eating about 3 hours before bed, but that is more of a better night sleep. (I also stop drinking so I don't have to pee in the middle of the night or so bad in the morning). The fact is it does not matter the time of day you eat.. Always remember, burn more calories than you consume.

There is no such thing as good or bad foods. Anything done in moderation is ok as far as I am concerned. Always keep in mind you are developing a lifestyle, not a "diet". If you put fewer calories in than you burn, you will lose weight. The body does not differentiate. The difference will always be that certain foods will…

Calling something a cheat day gives it an unhealthy relationship to the food instead of the AMOUNT of food. I eat basically anything I want in moderation 7 days a week. If I want to have a beer, I have one. If I want ice cream I have ice cream, but not a heaping bowl full. If I want French fries, I have them. I never feel…

This is pretty basic to understand for most people. Think of your body like a car. It needs fuel to run. Just idling the car burns fuel. Not as much as when you drive (exercise), but it still requires some fuel. If you put 93 octane (healthier foods) or 87 octane (unhealthier foods), you still need the CALORIES to run. Now…

If I have a craving for something more candy bar like, I will have a protein bar. (300 calories). If it I am looking for something colder I go for tart frozen yogurt smoothies from Swirlberry (about 400 calories). These usually do the trick. If I do not have enough calories available for the day, I will go to Apple…

I think the number will vary widely based on age, weight, height, and gender. My general goal per day is 1800 to lose about 1.5#-2# a week. Once I get to my goal weight (April 1 was the goal date, but it looks like I am a month early) I have calculated I can go to 2400. I will likely stay somewhere between 2000-2250 so I…

Traveling for work at least one week of every month, I can assure you the major chains all have nutritional data available AND most have a "lower calorie" menu. I have eaten at Chilis (black bean burger), Macaroni Grill, Applebee's, Panera, Dave and Busters and Ruby Tuesday's and have not been over my calorie count on any…

If you are lifting in that amount, it really is using calories for energy. Protein may help repair and build muscle from a workout, but the simple fact is, if you eat 5000 calories a day and burn 4000, you will gain weight, whether it be 5000 calories of Twinkies, or 5000 calories of salmon. There are the other nutrients…

All that requires is to add 30 minutes a day of a brisk walk at 3.5 mph. This will burn 250 ish calories for the day. I also find many smaller meals works far better than larger. I eat 1700 calories a day 5 meals of about 300 calories and 2 snacks( rice cakes, cheese) of 100 each.

Do not get hung up on the number, Is your waist smaller? It takes 21 days for something to become a habit.

First and foremost I would drop the pills. You are basically taking speed. The only thing diet pills are designed to do are supress your hunger. Use self control and will power instead. Realize why you eat. Most people it has a lot to do with boredom, or possibly in your case an absent husband. As others have suggested I…

I have tried more tea than I care to think of. It is all nasty. As for naked coconut milk etc, I can think of anyhingmore disgusting. I may try crystal light, or just have some lemonade.

Quit focusing on a number (weight). Do you feel better? Stronger? More energy? Healthier? If so, weight does not matter. It will eventually come. Also, what exactly are you eating? I promise you there is nobody who says, I am fat because I ate too many vegetables or fruit.

Something is not right if you are 100# overweight eating 1400 calories per day. I suggest eat until you are full, but make sure it is healthy stuff

BMR will change as your weight goes down. Your BMR is what you will burn by doing nothing. The BMR calculates if you did nothing all day, and wanted to stay at that weight, you could eat that amount. If you do not want to lose any weight; then you MUST eat at least the BMR number. The program is designed to never go 500…
