This! Also just cook them in boiling water until they are soft (stab with a fork, they should offer no resistance). Remove from stove, drain the water, and eat them plain or with your favorite spread.

Great information, thanks for sharing! I guess one can also assume this water retention will happen not only at the beginning of a new program, but throughout different phases of the program. And it may also explain why some people experience a temporary "plateau" or halt in weight loss during any one program. So the main…

I don't think it is time for you to worry about your blood pressure yet, unless you had a significantly lower blood pressure before and now the 124/80 is higher than your normal. I've had my blood pressure (and body weight) increasing steadily for the past 5 years, from 120/80 to 140/90. Two years ago I decided I had to do…

1. The great feeling of seeing results come, of feeling good and looking good! 2. The great compliments I get from my wife and my friends about the improvements they see. 3. My trainer, Dave. Can't get enough of the motivation he transmits day in and day out. 4. My fitness pals at the gym. They are the best motivation as I…

I gave up soda entirely by substituting it with green tea. Not only it is fun to make the tea, I find myself drinking it more often. I've lost weight consistently these past 2 months, and although I exercise a lot, I am certain the tea has something to do with it. Give it a try. You can drink the tea hot or cold, sweetened…

I suggest you buy a good Heart Rate Monitor, for example from Polar or Garmin. Also a lot of people use the FitBit. All of them calculate calories reasonably accurately.

I weigh myself every morning but only post the losses.

^This!!! That's a good plan!

The 3099 calories is for the entire recipe. On an 8x8 pan I will assume you will cut 2"x2" square bars, so that should yield 16 bars per recipe, or 194 calories per bar.

You want better motivation than the pictures you just took? Congratulations and keep up the great job!

I guess it depends on what your goals are. Warmups are very important, specially before weight training. And cardio after weight training is a great way to burn fat off. But do not overdo it. Once you start increasing the weight training, you can decrease some the cardio workout. And please try and alternate between days…

This year I am doing BOTH the Warrior Dash and the Tough Mudder challenges. Never did them before, so I am looking forward to the experience.

One reason to stop eating a few hours before going to bed is if you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, also known as Acid Reflux Disease (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001311/). Without knowing what is motivating you to do this - I do it as well - I agree with the suggestions that you can drink water to…
