  • Thank you all for the input and encouragement. I have been patient, it seems like I haven't since I've only been on the site since 3/6/09 but I've been dieting since 2004 and trying to lose a total of 85 lbs. ( was 220) I lost 31 lbs. and then have not been able to lose anymore. I know the guidelines like a mantra, and…
  • No, I have a total of 50 lbs. to lose. I just give myself a 10 lb. goal at a time. I think my doctor was worried about nutrition. I'm walking 5 days a week, (treadmill) and trying to eat the calories, nothing is happening. I'm a fairly patient person but before this site, I"ve been trying for about 6 months.
  • Thanks. I should clarify. I don't mean physical "tired" I mean emotional tired (sorry) discouraged is the word I should have used. I have lots of energy for the most part. But if eating more than 1200 calories is going to work, Tthen I'll have to program the site to give me more calories somehow, I guess. Another thing…
  • edit: I have 50 lbs. to lose but go in 10 lbs. goal at a time. org. post. I'm unsure as to what to do at this point. My doctor tells me that 1200 calories is not a healthy number. But...when I figure in my age, weight etc and a goal of only ten lbs. loss at a time the MFP tells me 1200. I'm not losing an ounce and havven't…
  • thanks both for the added links and warnings. It sure pays to double check on those things. I hate to take anything for granted myself too.
  • I agree that our bodies know what to do but...we have to give them fruits and vegetables and the right amount of water, the right fuel. And...people can get into a whole mess of trouble by depleting vital minerals if they don't know what they are doing. Just my opinion. I take a Hyssop Cleanse and Probiotic and try to eat…
  • First, I like your menu. Well, I've not heard of anyone having trouble eating "enough" calories. My suggestion would be to drink milk (if you like milk) you don't look very old at all but it's never too soon to take care of our bones. That would be a great way to get an extra 100 calories or so. Keep up the good work.
  • You are inspiring and have a great attitude. You'll set a standard for your children and that's a wonderful thing. I know one thing, calories still count no matter what fads come along because our bodies don't change. So glad you posted your story.
  • That's great. I love to hear good things like this. Keep up the good work!
  • You're welcome. Hope the link is of some use!

  • This is a site that has probably more recipes (over 300,000) than any other I've ever found. All the nutritional information is available too which is sometimes hard to find. They have a ton of Weight Watcher recipes and tons of low fat recipes as well (pardon the pun) Say for instance, if you type in "low carb" you end up…
  • I saw this on TV and have not had it in years. I put it on my next grocery list. It is good!
  • Way to go. I get so excited when I read all the success and see the numbers of pounds lost. I can't tell you how encouraging it is and we're not paying anyone for it!!
  • I don't know if this will help or not but there's a lady on here who lost 135 lbs. I can't remember her name. I guess what I'm saying is I know of sometimes the surgery even does not work in the long run. It's so final and all. You might want to consider the finality of it all before you take the plunge.
  • What an inspiration you are. Wow. All I can say is congratulations to you and a wonderful achievement this is. Thanks for posting and encouraging us all too.
  • I just did see this. I'll be 59 in about 7 weeks. I'm new here coming off Weight Watchers, so March was my start up month. I want to lose the last 45 lbs. so far, I've lost about 1.5. beginning here at the site on March 6th so I'm not doing that great but I've had some digestive issues (waiting for a hernia surgery first…
  • I looked into that once but I won't take a chemical drug if I can prevent it. There are just too many success stories (some right on here!) about people losing huge amounts of weight without gimmicks. For me, this is a gimmick.

  • I relate to your situation in many ways and it is stressful. NOt only are you in the middle of layoffs but family illness also. I'll sometimes be in the middle of something I'd rather not deal with and use food as a "sidetrip" so maybe that makes me an emotional eater? Probably. A show will come on TV in the evening I…
  • I'm going to try this. Thanks for posting it. I love lasagna and this is low fat and the prep time is great.
  • This really helped me a lot. I wasn't going to count my exercise in the log because eating more seemed wrong. Now, I understand much more and I'll continue to do that. Thank you! (and some of your other points were hitting close to home also!)
  • You will be there in no time. Way to go and thanks for posting this. It keeps me motivated too.
  • It's nice to have calories leftover! You sound excited and that's wonderful. Thanks for spreading the enthusiasm!
  • So glad to hear someone else as excited as I am about having a great site to help me lose weight!
  • That's a lot of weight! Congrats! I'm having trouble figuring out how people can drop so much weight in such a short time!
  • CONGRATS! My son is 26 and overseas in the service. I'll be seeing him late September and want to look more fit/healthier when I do. You give me motivation.
  • That's terrific. Congratulations!
  • I thought i would read one more Success Story before logging off. I'm so discouraged. Sure, I've 31 lbs. but haven't lost in almost a year. You are such a success and I feel so motivated. Having only been here at MPF for a little under a month, I am encouraged. You look amazing. Congratulations. And I really want to thank…
  • Thank you all so much. I really enjoy the site. Just waiting for those much coveted results!

  • I appreciate the feedback. It gives me some insight as to what others are doing and basically what's working. I'm just not getting anywhere and I keep changing my methods. I'm hoping ...soon! I think I'm going to have to go with fewer calories, or...stop logging my workouts because when I exercise it says I can have 1700…
