Water is the only beverage whose properties are changed by adding all that other stuff. It's the best choice but I have to force myself. Yes, calorie free sodas are as calorie free as water as is tea, the difference is water is a transporter, eliminating fat, cleaning our organs, all that healthy stuff. While diet sodas…

oh wow, that's terrific!

Love the enthusiasm. Congratulations!

This could catch on!

Welcome. You came to the right place. I have received more valuable information here as well as support. The folks are wonderful. For me, the knowledge of what I was eating as far as number of calories began to turn things around. For so long, I just didn't realize what I was consuming but my body kept perfect score. I…

I had Eggos this morning. I put Agave syrup on them and boy they were good. The other day I measured out 1 oz. of shelled walnuts, half a cup of fat free yogurt, and about 10 blueberries. Then I cut up an apple. I figured the total calories was about 300 and most of that came from the walnuts (have to be careful with…

I haven't lost all month but haven't gained. It takes a week to lose a pound of fat, if someone weighs less overnight, it's not "fat" sometimes we can hold water, (or not) and that will show up. But I wouldn't be discouraged over 3 days! Give it a week, or even two. Some people weigh themselves everyday. I would think that…

Two pounds in the first week is a lot, it's the perfect number, marvelous. That's exactly where you should be! Celebrate. My sister is going on and on about not losing 50 lbs. overnight (kidding) but she expects it too all come off and fat doesn't do that! You're doing good! You're on your way.

Sometimes I'm not sure to trust it or not. If the label isn't available, I use Diet facts, Calories Count, or http://www.calorieking.com/ Calorie King. Diet facts is awfully good too.

This is encouraging. It is great to see it happening! All that hard work.

Thank you folks so much. I think I am all set now.

I just want to say a huge thank you collectively. I really gained some important insight into my weight loss journey.

I'm going to try this snack. It really sounds good. Thank you!

I love Subway but don't go there as much. I was usually getting one about 4X a week. Tuna is terribly high in calories. I would usually get a turkey or ham but yes, if you get cheese you have to add that. I think I fooled myself in thinking that if I got mustard then I had done this marvelous thing! But the bread, the…

Yes, thank you so much. Hopefully, I can get moving now!

I actually printed out your post and I thank you. This is a huge help.

I found the answer on another weight loss site. I wish I only had 10 lbs. to lose! If I did, I doubt I would be spending this much time on it! I have about 50 more, I've already lost 31 but not here which is why the ticket says "O"

My BMR says I burn 1388 calories a day by doing nothing. That's with my current weight, age and so forth. Now, if I eat 1200 calories, how is this going to help when you have to take off 3500 calories a week? I'm really confused. I'm sure the answer is quite simple; I'm just not getting it. Thanks if you can help.
-
When I calculated the BMI, it said 1388 calories a day is what I'm using just to stay alive (:flowerforyou: so.........I see what you are saying. I think. The BMI said 33.8 I'm worse off than I thought!
-
Just got back from errands and I'm going now to see those numbers, on that BMI, I don't know. As far as exercise: you may be onto something. I've been walking 30 minutes for about a year at a time. Never increasing it. Maybe it's time to step it up a notch. That may be a key also. I really appreciate your (and everyone's…

Thanks and you were most encouraging. I don't drink enough water. That may be a huge reason right there.
-
Thanks, wow, well before I ever started to lose weight I have no idea how many calories but I was maintaining a 215 lb. frame back then, now I'm 185 so I was probably packin' it in!
-
Thank you. Yes, when I went ahead and put the goal at 50, the calories were the same. I think I can work around it though.
-
Kim, I feel some better. Thanks. I think 1500 would be better with the exercise and all. My sister is a nurse also and she's trying to lose about 65 lbs.
-
Thanks. I can't run because of glaucoma implants but I love to walk.
-
Thanks so much everyone. I let them choose it for me, with a one pound a week recommendation.
-
I think my recommendation of 1200 is too low. Does MFP give anyone else here a recommendation of 1200 calories a day?
-
Yes, thank you; I know all that. I don't think anyone is really listening to what I'm asking about the 1200 MFP recommendation. I guess I'll have to figure it out myself!
-
No, it's not that study. And don't get me wrong I'm not advocating starvation! Lord, no. I'd never consider anything like that. I'm a very practical person who believes in nutrition. I just mentioned it because I thought it was interesting; I saw Dr. Oz on Oprah talking about people eating 1600 calories a day and that was…

Then, can anyone here tell me if 1200 calories is "not" healthy why the site recommends that to me? I let it decide. Just curious. I didn't come up with that number by myself. It gave it to me!
