  • Been there done that. I have to deal with my BF's Jewish mother that gets offended every time I don't go for 2nds. It is hard because you don't want to offend anyone, but there is a point where you just gotta tell them you are not going to eat it. I also have the issue where my BF eats anything he wants but doesn't gain…
  • ^^^This. If you are walking slowly all day then your activity level is no sedentary it is lightly active. I worked in retail before and I had mine set to lightly active. When I quit and started a desk job I changed in to sedentary. It may be easier for you to either change your profile setting to lightly active, or find…
  • I have been trying to tell people this! I have 2 people that are family medicine doctors that I am close with and they not only do not know anything about nutrition, they do these crazy diets to lose weight and try to sell me why its so awesome! Then they gain the weight back and then go on another crazy diet to lose the…
  • Yep, it is called Dump Syndrome. It is a common side effect to the surgery that some doctors don't tell you about. I had mine out in 2005. I cannot over eat or eat fuzzy's tacos without having to have a bathroom near by within 20 minutes of eating it. Gaining weight is a common side effect that I have noticed with people…
  • I can see that it worked for you, but what motivated you to do that? I am willing to try anything : ) Do you think you were starving your body? [/quote] I had almost a month of no weight loss, although I did lose some inches during that time, but I also started training for a 10k and working out at least 4 times a week and…

  • That sound like the Lifetime Fitness near me! It is something like 90 bucks to work out at the one right next to my work. There is only 1 that has the lowest fee option and it is like 20 minutes away from my house. I do Planet Fitness for $20 per month now. I will probably go to another gym once my contact is up so I can…
  • I have said this before and I will say it again. You do not need to eat like a starving child in Africa to lose weight. If you are unsure about your intake goals then start with what MFP says and that includes eating back you exercise calories. You are not feeling well because you are not eating enough food for the amount…
  • This too! I have failed too many times because of this!
  • I did the same thing! I have been playing with my calories for about a month now. I am not gaining and losing a little instead of a lot. I am happy as long and the number doesn't go up and up and up. I have a goal size and I am not in such a rush to get there because I know I will eventually. I would rather not be…

  • I love milk and pizza too much to give it up. I personally don't believe in eliminating anything from my diet. I follow eat less of the "bad" stuff more of the "good" stuff and exercise.

  • Under food you will see recipes and you can choose to build one. Or you can go under the tools section. It gives you the option to choose how many servings are in your recipe so you don't have to modify your recipe for 1 person. I love that part!

  • 1st is 1st. Don't weight yourself every day. Water weight can make you fluctuate your weight. I can go up and down up to 2 pounds from day to day. I have seen some people go up and down 7 lbs in 1 day. If your diet is the same it is not fat you are gaining. Remember it take 3500 calories to gain or lose a pound. I suggest…
  • This morning I put my shirt on inside out. I didn't realize it until I sat at my desk. Last week I wore 1 black trouser sock and 1 navy trouser sock and we went on a company outing that day so I couldn't hide me feet under my desk.
  • Yeah the recipe builder is pretty awesome. I even build my PB&J in there with the ingredients I use. If you have the app on your phone, try the "scan option". That way it makes it super easy to find the brands you use (even for chicken) so you know the exact calorie count.

  • I have a few questions. Are you measuring EVERYTHING with a food scale or measuring cups at least? eyeballing it can cause you to eat extra calories. I see a lot of homemade items in your diary which is awesome. No better way to control what you eat than to make it yourself! Are these recipes ones that you built here or…

  • I had the same problem! I did weight watchers the first time I lost weight. I lost 70 lbs in 7 months. 12lbs in the first 2 weeks! The problem? It didn't work! Why? Because gained it all back and couldn't keep up with the lifestyle. I tried WW again right before I came to MFP for good at the beginning of the year. And this…
  • you are probably binging because you are not eating back you exercise calories. Working out makes you hungry because you burn ALOT of energy. MFP already has a deficit built into your calorie goal. Eating back your calories is they best way to lose at a healthy rate.
  • I started out like everyone else and did what MFP said I should and at 1200 calories. I was not a happy camper. I increased to 1300 calories and felt much better, but I was not eating my exercise calories back. I started to eat them back and change to 1350 that a still lost slowly but surely. The past 2 weeks I cannot…
  • From what I gather: The laser gives your cells a jolt which causes them to shake out the fatty acid in your cells and forced into (this part isn't clear) your system, I'm not sure which part and transformed into an energy source. Doesn't make much since to me, but the graph is probably only part of a presentation. The rest…
  • I know! They are so addicting!!
  • I know what you mean! From the date under my picture you can see that I found this site a long time ago, but I didn't really get into it until I started adding friends and reading the forums. Good stuff!
  • I always want some kind of beef or pepperoni pizza when PMSing. I have been guilty of ordering a large pizza with a 2 liter of Diet coke and finishing it. Side note: Does anybody have the problem of not being able to handle your alcohol during your TOM? I do! lol
  • I am not trying to be rude, but I still don't understand what you are trying to say. This is your life and your journey. Do what you want and the way you want to do it. The forums are what they are and are probably not going to change. If hearing things like "eat back you exercise calories" bothers you then the forums/this…
  • I would probably change your profile settings accordingly. What are you set to right now: sedentary, lightly active etc?
  • Maybe you could encourage your church group to have active events. I know when I went we were alway doing something fun and active.
  • I am screwed. That is my 30th Birthday and I am heading to San Francisco to celebrate. No diet for me that day.
  • If you have your goal set to 1lb per week that means that MFP took your maintenance calories for your weight and subtracted 500 calories creating a defict of 3500 calories per week. 3500 is the amount of calories you need to burn to lose 1lb. If you exercise then the amount of calories you burn is adding to your defict.…
  • make sure you eat the exercise calories you earn. You will probably have very low energy if you don't.
  • BTW, Physicans only have to take a class/CME course or 2 while in medical school/residency. Most states dont require a referesher course in nutrition when getting licensed. (I credential physicians for a living) Most of them know very little about nutrition and exercise. If you are getting advice from your doctor, make…
  • This is not true, I am 4' 11" and lose just fine EATING!!!! You have trained your body to handle that little of food and that is why you see weight gain when you up your calories. If you exercise and build muscle you will HAVE to eat more calories. Being short, small petite is not an excuse. I challenge you to check yout…
