  • So you won't mock clean eating, but you'll mock IIFYM? :indifferent: People who do IIFYM don't tell people to just stuff whatever they want into their mouths, anyway. They tell them "Meet all your macros with healthy food. Then, IF you have the extra calories, treat yourself with something that you like." Edited for…
  • Haha I would, but the barbells we have that aren't connected to the Smith machine only go up to 60lbs which I don't think is heavy enough. Sigh. I'm hoping to just tag along on a friend's membership for my lifting days. Fingers crossed!
  • I wish mine was like that. There's a giant sign with all the rules (which includes "no string tank tops"... wtf?) at the entrance of mine, which includes no deadlifts. Sad face.
  • You didn't share... ETA: I don't think the practice of clean eating is truly mocked- I think the way it's presented is mocked.
  • Fat is going to disappear from different areas of your body whenever it feels like it, honestly. If you aren't strength training and ONLY eating at a deficit, you will lose excess fat from different areas at different times. In my opinion, those who have success in losing their love handles by avoiding certain foods are…
  • Great... thank you Joy! You rock.
  • Anti-faceplant device... I love it. If I find that at higher weights my balance is WAY off, I might switch to 2 dumbbells.. but I do really want to improve my balance, so I think I'm going to give it my best shot at only 1 DB.
  • A friend of mine told me he may be able to add me to his membership at a "real" gym, so that I can go lift with him using the proper equipment, but still keep my membership @ Planet Fitness for the cardio equipment. PF is like 5 minutes away from my house which is why I'd keep that membership too- his gym is like 25…
  • Thanks Joy :) I did a 25lb warmup today and then went up to 30lbs... but I'm thinking that may still be too light. I'm kind of unsure of what to use as my workweight right now.
  • Did you see good strength results from doing it like this?
  • The noise factor mainly, I think. Planet Fitness is the home of the "average joe" exerciser (which is fine!) and they discourage powerlifting. They even have an alarm that goes off if you make too much noise... :grumble: I'm looking to switch gyms soon, just can't right now unfortunately.
  • I thought about doing that too, but it made me wonder if I'd be decreasing the balance benefits of the exercise? I tried it on the same side as my stabilizing leg today and I was a bit wobbly, so you might be right that balancing could be easier if I switched hands. Just wasn't sure if one had more strength benefits than…
  • What I took from the overall article was that 1g of protein per lb of body weight (which is the generally accepted standard, from what I've seen) may not be necessary to build and/or maintain muscle, regardless of caloric intake.
  • No worries, Joy. :flowerforyou: Thank you!
  • Oh, every workout? Sheesh- I'm all sorts of backwards, lol. Maybe I'll just consider the past ~2 weeks practice, and "officially start" again today with Workout A, then B on Wednesday, A again on Friday.
  • I hate this, too. I only recently started lifting and one of my best male friends/coworker automatically started worrying that I was going to end up looking like a body builder. I've no idea why he even cares what I do with my body, but that's another question for another day. It took a while for me to convince him I…
  • Bump :flowerforyou:
  • I entered your information into Scooby's calculator under the assumption that you have 1-3 hrs of light exercise per week, and a 20% reduction from your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure- AKA maintenance calories): BMR (which is what your body needs at a minimum to function properly): 1755 Daily calories to maintain…
  • Green. But I'm biased, that's my fav color.
  • Thank you :flowerforyou:
  • Lol! I don't do anything special, I guess I'm just lucky to have long lashes. I use Great Lash mascara by Maybelline, though. :) I've tried a lot of different mascaras but I generally come back to that one.
  • bumping, want this to show in my feed. Great post!
  • It does help, thank you much!
  • Wow, great to hear all these positive "reviews" about eCigs... definitely glad I'm making the switch. I also agree with another poster who says it's worth the investment to get the liquid/rechargeable ones. They produce much more vapor and are much higher quality.
  • This is all I have for now... these were taken about a month ago, but it'd still be helpful to know about where I *was*. I'll repost next time I take progress photos. I am 5'5" tall, and I currently weigh ~122lbs. I used all 3 calculators on Fat2Fit and averaged that out, but I'm still interested to know your thoughts. :)…
  • Congratulations!! Did you notice any problems with weight gain when you fully quit? I think she's referring to stress relief/pleasure, mainly. Obviously there's no health benefits but mentally, cigarettes do help. Though now that I've found the gym, I don't crave real ones as much anymore.
  • *whistles* You look amazing!
  • When I saw your thread title, I thought you were going to say you love your daughter now simply because you lost weight. I'm glad that's not what the thread was about! Good for you, though! Kids are so brutally honest... sometimes hearing a compliment from one child is better than 100 compliments from adults.
  • If you really can't stomach "real" food today, I'd try to at least make a shake of some sort. Get some milk, protein powder and fruit and have that instead. That way you will feel full, get the nutrients you need, and not have to actually chew. :)
  • Aww, thank you! :flowerforyou:
