Midol and drinking a lot of water helps. I also tend to cut back a little bit on carbs (only because it helps with not retaining water), and watch my sodium, until my TOM passes.

It's important to note that in order to gain a pound of fat, you'd have to be at 3,500 over Maintenance (not just eating 3,500 flat). So that means you'd have to eat 6,200 calories to gain a pound.

Split or no split, the key to gaining strength is progressive loading. I do agree that something like Stronglifts would be very beneficial, though.

Please, for the love of all that is good, stop demonizing carbs. If your focus is weight loss ONLY- All you need to worry about is calories in versus out. Nut butter, yes- but that's super high in calories. Your best bet, unless you want to gorge yourself on meat all the time (ha) is to go ahead and get a protein powder. There's nothing to be afraid of, and there are probably even "natural" options out there.

Don't lose any more weight. You are already considered underweight, I believe. Eat at maintenance (Google TDEE Calculator to figure this out), and take up lifting/strength training.
