Rock on lady! You should go wrap yourself up in a huge hug and squeeze real tight and thank yourself for being so super duper awesome  :flowerforyou:

197 looks great on you!! Way to work yourself into such a beautiful look! Congrats and well wishes for your continued success :) :drinker:

Are you really losing weight by just counting calories and exercise? Yes, in the most basic sense. Is counting your calories teaching you to make better decision? Keeping track of calories has been one educational adventure for me. Some foods I had been overdoing portion sizes on, some foods I found I had been underdoing…

Flowers and jewelry are overrated - we JUST had Christmas! This year for VDay I am doing the planning :P Im a pathetic romantic and I wanna wine and dine him and make HIM feel special cause God knows he tries his best every other day of the year. If he gets me nothing but a hug and a thank you, then I will be happy :) If…

Truly awesome self made victory! Well done, lots of self-applause. Woo!

Hah! Great NSV story!! Congrats on "outgrowing" your favorite jeans :)

I don't have a story like that but my brother encouraged me to try doing my walks with a backpack full of the weight I had been losing. I thought he was kind of nuts, because that would get heavy pretty fast. Then thought about it - I HAD been walking around with that much weight all the time. Kind of eye opening.…

No? Nothing? :(

Old thread but what the heck! I love bragging :p Started Jan 2012, this is my before, 6 month, and year anniversary photo. I am 5'7"ish - eat like it's my job, and have started back up at the gym after a 3 month downtime due to personal reasons. My weight stalled through half of January, but started moving again once I…

GOOD walking shoes (shop around spend a little bit more money, your feet will thank you.) Food scale - embrace your inner metric nerd Body Weight Scale - I enjoy seeing the made up percentiles it throws at me after I stand on it longer than 5 seconds.

For the most part Fat Loss Products are gimmicks meant to slim down your wallet. The only real thing that works and STAYS working is improved diet, improved fitness levels, and moderating both in a healthy way to turn it into something successful for you.

Food scale it. I hate admitting it, but using the gram measurements almost always yields better results. I adjusted and now prefer it. If youre insisting on using cups, I would play it safe and go "loose" not packed.

College savings, then a new home. Then a new home for my new best friends and family I haven't seen in years.

I am one of the chubbies at my gym. There are ppl bigger than me, ppl a LOT bigger than me, and ppl a LOT smaller than me, and some folks who actually act like they know what they are doing around the weight benches - they are more intimidating to me! I too have "gym-phobia" when starting out, or coming back after a…

Without seeing your diary/food you're eating or knowing your stats (height, weight etc) it is difficult to help you figure out why it isn't working. On a sheer guess, I would suggest you are not eating enough (usual culprit) followed by too much salt in your diet (water retention.) I would reassess your calorie goals, and…

My hubby knows how to cook. Ish. I don't understand the concept of making multiple meals for 1 family. I started trying that route when I first started losing weight last year, and it was difficult emotionally an financially so eventually I just cracked and said, "Enough!" I told my kids if they didn't like what they had…

If IF is so healthy and has so many healthy benefits why would you restart only after you end nursing? That implies you don't buy into it fully as a healthy way to eat. You can lose weight and nurse without impacting the baby's well being, so why wouldn't you with IF? Seems like a contradiction of beliefs to me *shrugs*

The rare times I skip meals is due to poor time management on my part. I couldn't imagine deliberately skipping meals, food is way too good for that kind of abuse :noway:  I think the idea behind IF is dodgy at best, cramming a day's worth of calories into a limited time span isn't something I personally can wrap my…

Sounds like you need to find and learn a way to say no politely. I don't suppose you've spoken with her about how overwhelmed you are?
-
I dont consider there to be "rollover" calories - its like trying to sleep in late to catch up on sleep you've missed all week. Gone is gone, there is no "recovery" your body adjusted to what it had and it moved on, just like you should. BUT with that said, there is no harm in splurging for a day and eating at…

If you are not on a medically supervised/recommended diet of 1200 then you probably shouldn't be eating so little. You need to figure out what your body's base rate is, what it needs to function at the bare minimum (BMR - basal metabolic rate.) Then you need to crunch some math numbers to discover what your TDEE is (your…

Its enough if you live at home, have no bills to pay, no gf/bf, no life to speak of. It covers your most basic needs...but if you want anything more you're going to have to make at least as much as you intend to spend.

Congratulations on a victory meal well earned! You did yourself a huge favor and I am very proud of you!! Good work!

Kaassouflee.. mmm lekkkker ETA: Frikandel too! I miss the Netherlands :brokenheart:
-
My understanding to date is murky, but if I do understand it correctly, TDEE is how many calories it takes you to maintain weight at your current lifestyle, be it sedentary, highly active, moderately active, etc.. so the exercise is basically already accounted for in THAT aspect. However if you are trying to create a…

First guess, you aren't eating enough. What do you consider "bad" calories? Unless youre under medical orders to do so, there's no good reason to be so restrictive of yourself. Can you really see yourself living like this for the rest of your life? Forever? Then why start now? Good luck! ETA: i eat 1600 and find it hard to…

I skipped most of January at my gym so when I went back this week it looked like business as usual to me. Being out for foot surgery recovery put a crimp in my treadmill pace and strength circuit settings :( Sadpanda

You look fabulous! Well done!!

Supposedly whole milk is less bad for you than they had initially been advocating, but I am sure in 5 years time they will change their minds again. I use milk in recipes and cereal and no other time (I don't drink my non-alcoholic calories!) I would just do what works for you.
