  • It all depends on your pain tolerance. But, I'm usually a baby, and the tattoo on my ankle didn't hurt that bad. Afterward, it hurt like heck though, lol! (Especially when I was sitting cross legged and my 4 year old decided to plop down on my ankle HARD the next day!) I had heard the foot hurt really bad, so if that…
  • Not a fan of the BC mixes. I really like Namaste though. Personally, I make my own. It's just easier, cheaper, and my cakes (to quote my son's cub scout leader ) are awesome. My Dad even likes them! Get good flour replacement (like Better Batter). Nothing with nut flour, sorghum or the like. It should be brown rice,…
  • Um, with tights? Yes. But I don't personally think I'd wear it. I'm not graceful enough to not show my crotch, and usually wind up falling at some point, lol!! Otherwise... it makes for great 'play' at home
  • I don't think my shoes are too worn down... they were new in December. It's possible I did too much, too fast - and I'm not stretching well enough? I am eating enough (and I always eat my exercise cals), but I do not have much muscle at all, so that's probably another factor. I'll look up some proper stretching techniques.…
  • 1. I love your retort :) 2. OMG I cannot believe the ba!!s on some people! Hmprh!
  • You CAN do it. You are SO CLOSE to that 72 hour mark!! That was the worst. I quit smoking and ditched caffeine at the same time - I was a total you-know-what. I did do a step down approach, but in the end... its cold turkey man. One day at a time. Twidle a pencil - chew on it if you have to. Find something else to keep…
  • Gluten free here too. Whether its Celiacs, an intolerance or an allergy - I'll probably never really know. I just claim Celiacs because my GI thought I probably had it whether testing said so or not. There is a GF group on MFP. I also cannot tolerate caffeine. I can handle bits of chocolate, but that's about it. I used to…
  • I very rarely have milk on my cereal. I hate that. Soggy cereal gives me the heebie jeebies... lol. Only Rice Krispies - and Gluten Free Rice Krispies are EXPENSIVE! I do drink almond milk, but I would rarely waste it on cereal, its expensive too. I'm not much of a cereal eater anyway. I'd rather have eggs, toast, or…
  • I'm in the middle of reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower Series... So it was The Wastelands, lol ;).
  • Yep - you need to make sure you're getting enough calories or your body will 'rebel'. Waaaaaay back, long ago - lol - when I was nursing my oldest I could only eat a few things *I was top 8 allergens free + corn*, and I lost weight really easily... but was eating upwards of 2500 calories a day. And it was hard to do!! I…
  • LOL if you got sick, you get a mulligan on the calories ;) But really, it was probably the grease. I cannot eat McD's. It is sooo nasty. Burger King, Wendy's - fine. Of course, I'm also severely gluten intolerant - so I don't eat McD's anyway. I mean, who wants hydrolyzed beef fat in their fries anyway?!?
  • But won't you lose muscle mass in addition to fat?? When I had mono and couldn't eat anything for 2 months and all I did was lay in bed (for 2 months - and had to be carried to the bathroom at 19 years old, and bathed by my Mother), I lost nearly all my muscle. Without nourishment, my body took from itself. Sure, I lost 40…
  • I personally think its great! I'm way more skeeved out by the folks who sit in the car at the park. What the heck is that about?!? In fact, a few weeks ago I took my kids to the park and took our dog. Dog was going spastic at the guy sitting in his car for a 1/2 hour. What is the point? There's nothing to LOOK AT.
  • Boom Boom Pow, Black Eyed Peas.
  • SAHM - Minnesota! I have 2 boys, 1 at home all day, the other one is at school ;). OH! And I have dog too :). She helps me get OUT and move. It's really hard for me to not snack all day. And I'm a recent SAHM too. Before that I worked part time, but it always seemed I was so worn down emotionally from work that I didn't…
  • I want to try the green smoothie!! :) I make smoothies with greek yogurt too. I also like Enjoy Life's granola mixes. I wish I could tolerate oats, but alas, I get really sick.
  • I've had it as long as I can remember as well. Even when I was down to under 100lbs, I STILL had it!! So frustrating...
  • Well, that sounds like a great breakfast! But maybe mix it up a little bit. I usually have 1/4 - 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt with fruit. It's quick, easy, and it fills me up. I usually have a piece of GF toast with it with a tiny smear of butter. Hopefully someone will have more ideas!
  • Oh ouch!! I broke my upper right arm when my youngest was 4 months old, and it was miserable. I was corked out on pain killers for a few weeks, and stayed on the couch. I would not recommend that, lol. But they also didn't SET my freaking arm, so everytime I moved, the bones moved. Worst pain ever. I'd just watch the food…
  • Fellow migraine sufferer here! Caffeine seems to be a trigger for me. But, the biggest thing is gluten. I am either severely gluten intolerant or have Celiacs and even the tiniest cross contamination will land me in bed with a migraine. It's gotten better - but most recently I discovered that caffeine is also triggering…
  • Great job!!! My Wii is taunting me right now... telling me that it's betting I won't get on there and do my workout, lol ;)
  • My husband says you should buy it, but get something else (something FUN) and call that her present. The elliptical... because you thought she'd like it since she prefers to work out at home. Myself? I'd LOVE it if my husband bought me an elliptical for my birthday (as he's reading this over my shoulder, lol... hint hint…
  • Firstly, 5lbs in one month is great! Please don't get down on yourself for that!! We are not on The Biggest Lower. We are not going to lose weight in ten pound increments. Losing a pound per week plus some is a perfectly acceptable thing. Take a breath and keep trucking.
  • Well... my 'diet' is entirely about losing weight. My exercising is. I eat what I want, in moderation. I have to retrain my brain (and stomach!) to what a real portion is. Therefore, I don't deny myself anything. If I want pizza, I have pizza - but I make it in such a way that I'll stay within or close to my calorie limit…
  • I've started by switching to Stevia for the most part :/. But, yeah, I have a total sweet tooth, and a Dad with Type 1 diabetes, an Aunt and Uncle with Type 2, and my Grandfather had Type 2 as well. FYI they do make an Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk :0). It's pretty good! I recently got the original unsweetened. I…
  • I got my first last year. I have my next planned for April :). I'm super excited. I just can't decide where I want to put it!!
  • He's going to have a rough time with solid fuels. I'd stick with popsicles, 7up, chicken noodle soup (well, really just chicken broth). Keeping him hydrated is the most important thing.
  • I use sugar or stevia. Stevia doesn't always taste great in everything, lol! Artificial sweeteners give me migraines, so I don't use splenda. I use stevia when baking, or I sprinkle it on my greek yogurt. I really don't use either too often, lol!
  • What were your symptoms?? I recently had to give up my morning coffee (one cup) because I was having a bunch of weird neurological issues and migraines. A friend of mine said it might be due to my gluten free diet as well (not tolerating caffeine) but I'd never heard of an allergy to it! (I mean, I know its possible...).
  • Ouch. I did that a few months ago. And it had BARLEY in it!! As I was eating it, I was thinking, boy... this doesn't look right. Sure enough, I was sick for 2 weeks :(. I'm back to being VERY careful about labels. The food allergy community has a saying 'Read it in the store, when you bring it home, and again when you go…
