You should def do both! Depending on how often you plan to work out you can alternate days. 3 cardio, two weights with a rest day in between. you can also build up to doing an extended cool down cardio before and after your weights day. 10 min before and 10 after. Whenever I'm too sore it is usually because I didn't focus on my warm up/cool down and stretching before and after working out. It will make a big difference. It will make you less sore (not take it away totally) and speed up your recovery time so you can get back out there. :)
