Yes, I am going back to that plan too, because I was eating at a higher level to support muscle gains, and ending up gaining back about 5 lbs. I had my RMR tested, which put me at .5 lb loss per week with 1200 calories, but did allow me to eat back exercise calories as long as I "net" 1200 calories a day. I would not…

I'm 5'2.5" and 150 lbs. Also looking at a 130 lb goal. I got down to 139 last summer and put it all back on :( I'll take all the support and motivation I can get! I know what my downfalls are, just can't seem to stay disciplined enough to get past them.

Which calculator are you using? I like iifym.com. You can eat all of your TDEE calories if you are just looking to maintain.

These are some relatively high protein, low carb ideas... B: 3 egg whites + Ezekiel toast + Better n Peanut butter = 230 cal S: 2 pc light string cheese + small apple = 200 cal L: 4 oz (low sodium) tuna + 1/2 avocado mashed = 280 cal S: 1 cup nonfat Greek vanilla yogurt = 190 cal D: Veggie burger on No Sugar wheat bun =…

This a completely NON-medical answer, but I can tell you that when I lost weight the first time (well, first of many), and was down 30 lbs, I felt almost as insecure as I did at my heaviest! I expected to wake up one morning and the 30 lbs would magically be back on. I don't know of any medical link between weight loss and…

Your metabolism could be slowing down to account for the severe calorie restriction. You should have your RMR tested. If you are burning higher than average, AND burning that many calories with exercise, 1200-1300 is definitely not enough! Back when I was exercising regularly, I had mine tested and my nutritionist bumped…

Yes, and according to the horoscope, today is supposed to be my lucky day. It better turn around at some point!

I'm not saying it's not nice to eat the extra calories, but my nutritionist (who counsels the US Olympic Diving Team), says it's 80% diet/20% exercise. You can burn all the cals you want, but if you aren't eating properly, it won't necessarily make you lose any faster. You're supposed to be active for 30 mins 5-6 days/wk,…

Same thing happened to me last week! It pays to get your RMR tested by a nutritionist. You could be burning more at rest than average, and MFP only uses an average. If that's the case, you should be eating more of your exercise calories. Mine was about $85 to get tested, but worth every penny because it turned out I was…

Thank you all! I think I might have to try a week with NO cheats and see if I lose any more than I did with it. Like you all said, I'll figure out what works for me. Ironically, some of my best weeks have been when I did cheat, and then when I did pretty much everything right, I didn't lose, or even GAINED! That's more…

Congratulations!!!! You're right, weight training helps a TON!! It builds more lean muscle, which burns more calories at rest. When I was weight training and exercising 5-6 days/week, my RMR was 300 cals higher than someone else my age/height,etc. Can't wait to get back there! Your photo is motivation for that! I can't…

Per the nutritionist, you can drink, but as she says..."pick your treat". If that's your treat for the day, then eliminate another carb. She tells me "little to no alcohol", but I don't feel like that's realistic for my lifestyle, which is why your topic piqued my interest! I used to work out with a personal trainer and…

I'm on week 2! Like Sophie, week 1 seemed too easy, but week 2 is kicking my butt!!! I don't do it every day since I incorporate other cardio, but I love it! I did it yesterday morning, and all day long I felt more toned in my core. Since I was pretty lax on abs before, that's where I'm seeing the biggest difference in the…

It's all about the calculation. If you want to lose 2 lbs/week, then you need to create a 7000 calorie defecit, both through eating less and exercise. My RMR is about 1350 x .2 for a sedentary job = 1590 cals. By eating 1300/day, I create a 2000 cal deficit each week. I need to burn, and NOT eat, an additional 1500 cals/wk…

Good thinking!! So if you all start getting requests from me, it's thanks to this post :) Gained and lost the same !@#$%^ 15 lbs over the last 10 years. I'm ready to shed 20 for GOOD this time, but I love the motivation that comes with the Newsfeed.

I agree with everyone that 2 days/wk is enough. I worked out with a personal trainer last year and got amazing results with just 2 days/wk in 6 months. Course the slacking off is what ended me up back here :) Check out www.bodyrock.tv for some new ideas. It's High Intensity Interval Training and the workouts are usually…

1. Get your RMR tested by a nutritionist. You may be burning more/less than average, which is what MFP is going to use to determine your calorie goal. If you can afford it, make monthly follow-ups and they'll like view your MFP journal to help you stay on track and point out problems. Trust me - worth every penny in the…

I just realized even I couldn't understand the math! lol. I forgot to add in the activity level, so I'm burning an additional 300 cals/day just movin' around. So I'm currently at 1300 cals day, which is 100 cals under my RMR, plus the 300 cals I burn is a 400/day food deficit, plus 100 cal/day exercising (700/wk). That's…

amongstwaves: It depends on your RMR. If you burn higher than average because you are working out so hard, then you may be cutting back too many cals by eating less and exercising so much. Back when I was doing more intense workouts 5-6 days/week, then I was only netting about 600-700 cals. Since my RMR was about 1600, I…

I agree with Brandon. If you can afford it, I would try to get your resting metabolic rate tested by a nutritionist. I did this last year when I couldn't get the last stubborn 5 lbs off, and it turned out I was burning about 300 extra cals/day than average people my age/height because I was exercising so often. The…
