There's a new t-shirt idea. Every Damn Day :-) And great work, too!

Let me put it over the 12K mark. 11964 + 75 = 12,039

Is this a version of the program for former smokers? :-)

I kind of feel the same way but I've sort of hit on what works for me. When I'm figuring up a meal from what I have on hand, I focus on the most calorically significant ingredients, so something with flour, eggs, pastas, butter, sugar, meats, etc... I kind of know what the calorie counts are for the big things. Vegetables,…

If it fits your macros, meaning, the percentage of calories in your diet that come from carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Boy I agree with that. I jumped on that bandwagon for a while but the only gadgets I use now are a food scale and my iPhone.

I love this Internet web-thingy. Thank you SheriBeth, and thank you Al Gore!

Right on. I still brew my own. Drink it too, And now it tastes even better because I drink it without the guilt hops! Bottoms up!

I like the LifeProof case because the case itself provides protection against water and drops. I use the clip to keep it on my waist at the side when running. They have a sturdy bike clip, so it goes on the bicycle when I'm riding. They have an armband/swimband, but I haven't needed that.

I'd say that's good advice for just about all exercise equipment. I bought a gym quality exercise bike from Craigslist and a Bowflex system from eBay (a local seller, I wouldn't buy one that had to be shipped). Each was about a third the cost of new and were almost unused.

I do the same. With a little practice you can break out a dish into its components, e.g. approx this much chicken, about that much rice, etc., BUT the drawback is whether a dish has other stuff lurking in it like butter, etc. So after figuring out the base components and entering those, I add a little fudge factor on top…

Wow, if I didn't have something after 7 p.m., I'd be miserable. And I didn't do this to be miserable. I couldn't give up my 9 p.m. treat and that hasn't hurt my ability to lose.

That's the big "secret" right there, in seven words.

Way to go bro. Seeing yourself transformed like that is an amazing experience, isn't it?
-
There ya go. That works for me too. I'm thankful it does, and I don't question it. Or think about it.

I think you're at the point I was about five years ago. I recognized I needed to make a change. But I wasn't willing to make the commitment I needed to really make it happen. I've known for years that something had to give. I could easily observe the effects of my years of bad habits. Catching my breath at the top of a…

+1 on the kashi. Very satisfying and filling. I only use about a quarter cup of milk, just to make the cereal a little wet. So that would leave enough to add an egg w/vegetables. One of the surprising things I've found is how much food you can actually fit into 300 or 400 calories when you become more educated about your…

Your "simple routine" really is straightforward, and it's a real testament to results you get when you establish a plan and stick with it. No fancy remedies or machines required - good for you!

How about scallops? Have you tried those? The right ones, done the right way are tasty and low cal. If they're available to you, the Atlantic Sea Scallop is a mild, sweet meat, and large. Average sea scallops are about one ounce each. When we fix them, I figure about six to eight per person. There are two issues with how…

Mark, I was sitting around yesterday thinking I'd take the day off and when CNN popped open, your story was the first thing I saw. Took it as an omen, closed the computer, and went to the gym. Thanks for sharing it - the beginning of your journey was similar to mine. I knew I needed to make changes and one day about six…

What I would say is that regardless of what kayak you get, invest in a really GOOD seat. An inexpensive kayak will give you the workout you want, but the cheap seat that comes with it will have you scrambling for the shore in ten minutes. We have a couple of yaks and we constantly bicker over who gets the "good seat." I'll…

Some folks also like to be conservative in counting the calories they "earn." I used to be ecstatic when I did that length walk and the treadmill reported 500ish calories for the effort. After doing a lot more reading, I've adopted a much more conservative formula that I believe is more accurate. Don't know if links will…
