  • That is incorrect. Plyometrics involves fast, powerful, explosive movements. It can involve jumping. You have some attitude towards more knowledgeable and experienced people trying to help you. Just because you're making something a bigger deal than it is and seem unable to articulate your specific concerns doesn't mean…
  • I would say yes, in fact I've done Plyometric workouts in the past, just not Insanity. These days I prefer to break up m workouts into either resistance or aerobic but I've retained intense full body elements. This time of year to train for skiing I do HIIT training which gets my heart rate to 95% and for extended periods.…
  • Glad to help! Willingness to see the world through the eyes of others is a terrific quality!
  • You should see what I do! I work out almost as hard as I did in my 20-s, in some ways harder, both weights and cardio. Later today I have 90 minutes of weight training, I do 4 days a week 30-45 minutes of intense cardio, I surf, downhill ski and mountain bike. If you've been inactive you might check with your doctor.
  • Not only are there few resolutionists at my local 24 Hour, but participation in general dropped noticeably after the holidays. Around here the beach season gets it going.
  • Just started on Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey because I was walking out of my health club and noticed they were selling it at 50% off. 24g 120 cal.
  • With good ingredients grilled cheese sandwiches are awesome! Maybe throw in some sauteed mushrooms or bacon strips? So many good cheeses to choose from....
  • A lot of new members here. If you commit you have a lot to look forward to. I've been on MFP for a year and continue to learn about diet, health and conditioning. I'm really pleased with the results I've gotten here so far. I take conditioning seriously, am a former athlete, and am currently finishing a cut phase. Looking…
  • I'm dangerous in the kitchen because my skill exceeds a reasonable diet plan. So I try and take simple but do it to perfection. My menu would be butterflied skinless chicken breasts marinated in citrus, olive oil, garlic and spice, grilled at high temp, a habanero yogurt dipping sauce, home made cabbage slaw and parmesan…
  • I'd sell my soul for deep powder. Maybe I already have.
  • This is interesting to me because I am the father of an 18 year old male and we at times also have communication problems. When this started happening I at first felt mystified because I felt I always had his best interest at heart. It took time, advice and reflection for me to see my piece in this. Sometimes out of the…
  • You don't need to worry about the food, but you will need to be armed. As you may have heard, all of us Americans pack guns. It shouldn't be a problem, just pick one up at the Airport as you're leaving, all the shops sell them. And learn to crawl down sidewalks like a Marine in combat. You might want to practice this…
  • Now I'm starving. This is why I try to avoid threads on food. I may learn something but end up hungry. From now on only before a meal.
  • Sashimi is a staple for me. It's also the way I judge a Japanese restaurant. High in protein, low in calories.
  • Zero. I hate keys, rings, wallets and anything else I have to carry around with me. So I have one key, my car, not on a ring. I get in my house by using the car's garage door opener button, keep my wallet in my car and got divorced to avoid having to wear a ring. I changed the office entry to a code. My ski locker is by…
  • Great thread! Sliced avocado pumpkin seeds DIY roasted red peppers Heirloom tomatoes Grape tomatoes Home grown tomatoes Fresh chopped basil Black beeans Sliced or shredded turkey or chicken breast Red Onions!!! Olives (many kinds) Homemade Balsamic/Olive Oil/ garlic/basil/fresh ground pepper dressing.
  • As far as reading the whole thread, maybe they didn't want to risk staying around long enough to do that because of the gas....
  • Agree OP in fact most of the time both here and in life when I see someone tying themselves to an absolute, I stop listening. The most intelligent people I'm around draw few conclusions but spot many issues. Unfortunately our culture seems to be getting increasingly closed minded as reflected by not only nutrition, health…
  • Untrue. There is still a split in fact a recent Western University study compares egg consumption to smoking cigarettes. The study's been questioned in terms of the extent of it's conclusions but not direction. http://www.thestar.com/living/article/1241782--egg-yolks-unhealthy-says-western-university-s-david-spence Aside…
  • The research is conflicting. So perhaps after a month or so of your two eggs per day, get your cholesterol checked and then again several months later. If your levels are high then try eliminating eggs and get rechecked. It's really the only way to get an idea of how it affects your blood chemistry.
  • I used to wonder about what motivated people back when I played a sport in college. Some guys had the fire and got the most out of themselves, others seemed more comfortable being average. I decided by the time they'd reached college their level of commitment had already been established.
  • I've doubled down on stay in my own bubble concentration since I saw the other thread on resolutionists so I'm short on stories. Although there is a group of young male buddies that tried to take over equipment in the free weight area with towels and cell phones. I found it ironic they were being aggressive and…
  • I find it hard to focus if I'm tuned in to what others are doing. But I'm allergic to many fragrances so if I start choking on them I do get a little annoyed. That said, the smell they're covering up might be even more annoying.
  • A little over a year ago in Hawaii as a "before" picture. I'd reached my al-time highest weight and wasn't in shape. I keep it as motivation.
  • I'm from So Cal and I don't think I've ever heard the term supper used here. It was rampant in Boston where I went to school.
  • Marinated skinless chicken breast. Lots of ways but my standard is olive oil, citrus (fresh squeezed if possible), salt, pepper, garlic and ground mustard. I butterfly them and give them a day or two in the marinade. Melts in your mouth, particularly if grilled. Before the marinade they're 1 calorie per gram. I cook extra…
