Any SKIERS here?
I live in two ski towns. We've got 5 months. What do you do to prepare? How many days do you get in? I've just now gone from basic conditioning to ski specific. I'm 61, get in 100+ and in the last few years have found routines that have really turned back the clock for me.

My Life Changed After I Came to MFP...
7 years ago I found myself at my highest weight ever, not having done fitness for several years, newly divorced, mid-50-s, starting to feel like I was past my prime, blood pressure almost borderline after being low previously and bewildered as to how to lose weight for the first time, having enjoyed eating whatever I…

Can Anyone Else Relate To This?
If I averaged my actual weight for the past couple of years I'd probably be at or close to target. That said I'm rarely at my target weight, usually I'm 2-4 lbs. above or below. Part of this is my appetite. I have weeks where I'm just not hungry and others where I'm starving all the time. I'm in my 50-s. Anyone else? I…

Lose, Maintain or Gain? I'm Confused....
I've got 2.5 lbs. to go to get to my target weight although I may want to drop another 5 so a total of 7. I've been working out steadily and building muscle but reading threads, etc. suggets at a slow rate compared to if I was to gain weight. So....should I continue to lose to reach target, maintain and convert fat weight…

Should I Stop Trying to Lose Weight???
I'm now within 5-8 lbs. of my weight goal. But it occurs to me I'd like to gain at least that much in muscle over the next few months working out. Without getting too far into the debate as to whether one can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time, it seems I'm working against myself if I continue to try and lose.…

I Need A #(@$& Burrito!!!
Not just any burrito. I want a Chipotle chicken burrito with black beans, brown rice, corn salsa, sour cream and cheese. Should I have one? Don't mean to tempt anyone, but last year I had 2-3 of these a week. I can't take it anymore, I want out.

Should I Take My Shirt Off?
Thought this might make for interesting discussion. Through the process of dieting and working out, I'd say my body easily stacks up against all these guys with a shirtless avatar. My avatar shows a clothed and dumpy "before" me. So....what do you think about a shirtless "after" photo? I won't tip my hand as to my opinion,…

Elliptical Madness!!
I used to work out on a Lifefitness elliptical for 30 minutes and it calculated I would burn around 420 calories. Recently I purchased a Smooth Fitness elliptical. I work out harder on that for 40 minutes and it calculates around 225 calories lost. What gives? If I use the calculator on this site it's over 500 calories for…

This Is One of Those Friend Requests
I can offer support back. I'm new to weight loss but at 55 I now realize I'd gained 37 pounds since grad school when I was in really great shape. In the past, I let nature take care of things but in the last 10 years it isn't working. I'm not as goofy as my photo might suggest. Maybe a little. Calll for friends!

Emergency Food Suggestions
It's late at night, you've been good all day and now you're in danger of letting things go. What foods do you successful dieters resort to in that situation? So far I've found celery and humus (105 calories) and an avocado half and salsa (145). That's fine in that I ususally have banked extra calories but it would be cool…
