I agree, crosstraining with little rest between sets is the way I do it too. Way more efficient.

I've worn an HRM doing weights but I don't record the calories off it as I don't think they work well for that purpose. HRM-s determine calories burned based on algorithms that associate heart rate with energy expended. That works well when you're doing a constant activity like running but with resistance training you…

My ex-wife and I will always care for each other, we just aren't a good fit. So it is often painful for the both of us as we each pursue our own lives. But we both hope for the best for the other in fact I wish she'd find someone good for her. But she believes she just isn't cut out for relationships so she's gone the pet…

Do NOT try the blue potato chips or the regular crinkle cut ones with salt and vinegar if you have any kind of addictive personality. I deeply regret that I did. Also, AVOID the cheddar cheese popcorn.

My girlfriend is muscular. My ex-wife is bulky.

Dried sugar plums (ok, prunes). And water, lots of water. I'm naturally somewhat of a camel and so had to learn that the hard way.

I can live with that. But I'm a little nervous about the way the warden keeps looking at me.

I try to imagine I'm in prison and it's after dinner so there's nothing to eat. That still leaves me with the option of rioting for food but if it's late at night I'm usually too tired to riot.

You really shouldn't do that if you want to lose weight. :0

No. Advice can be helpful or unhelpful, well intended or poorly intended (designed to make them feel better about themselves) ignorant or intelligent, etc. Unless it's really about them feeling better about themselves I'm all ears. Then I'm free to consider it or ignore it. Sometimes it does help. I'm willing to sort…

You're absolutely right..... excuse me......blooarghhhh!!!!!!!

I was going to say smart, but look at the photo. Guess I'll have to go with fun.

Seems like it would need to be a whole lot more pay for it to make sense given the extra time demands and stress, particularly given you have child responsibilities. But it's nice to have options and perhaps either would work.

54 arduous minutes on my elliptical, intervaling levels 9 & 14 on Smooth 8.0.

I don't know how much I can trust my HRM with strength training as my heart rate remains elevated between sets when I'm resting. This is where the assumptions HRM-s rely on can become suspect. I generally take the amount from MFP and deduct 20% to be conservative as I've found MFP's to be a little generous.

I find this thread more interesting for its random displays of defensiveness than I do as to its topic.

I'm a witness, I can't speak further for them, other than to say they considered processed flour to be almost the dietary equivalent of sugar. I will say I find the level of resistance based on agenda in this thread to be surprising given why we're all here.

I realize there are studies du jour and alarmists out for attention but I should probably chime in here. I have medical researchers, oncologists and heart specialists in my family. I'm not and so sit idly by during conversations about medical research. The two studies aren't the only ones, a lot more will start reaching…

Dead on. Even just a little success can grow into some gnarly, huge success. And we've all already begun.

Some seem to have success with on-line dating but in the short time I've been on it I've met more women who seem like poor candidates for a healthy relationship than the ones in the bars.

It's called the hangman guy getting a little older, getting paunchy around his mid-stick and pursuing resistance training to become a stick figure again. Of course, eating a few less vowels would help.

Alot of beauty and attraction come from within. When someone's comfortable in their own skin they're a whole lot more attractive. I agree with chachadiva. If you can find something you enjoy and can share with others, your happiness can make you a whole lot more desirable and having something in common can give you a…

Chicken breasts are so efficient in terms of complete protein vs. calories, I'll make a marinade for a weeks worth, throw them in and then cook several at a time over the following week. I'll generally have some available for snacks. Throw on a little jalapeno flavored Greek yogurt, short nuke and there you go. With the…

I had the toughest day this year on Thursday after going to Fleming's and let myself go. My friends and I were pigs. It was tough logging everything in but I did it. Why detract from the value of the process? I want to learn as much as I can about myself and cause/effect. Manipulating things just makes our efforts less…

Holy cow!! Do you need a job?

Double: Chemistry, Economics. Grad schools: Law, Management. What can I say, I just liked being a student. My father figured that out and cut me off.

I guess I win the cheapest membership award. My original gym was acquired by 24 Hr. They offered me $29.99 a year for life following a three year membership. Most of the 24 hr gyms are great for a workout but I wouldn't shower there without a Hazmat team.

I'm also interested in hearing on this from those who've made the conversion. Obviously at some point you can just eat more but any insight beyond that would be appreciated.
