  • ICT is Information and Communication Technology. I think (having not actually spoken to the head of ICT yet) that for the year group that I'm teaching it's "this is how you use MS office and moviemaker". Not something I would chose to teach. Ever. Love maths, enjoyed programming at University, but teaching kids to use…
  • Well made it through day one :0) and felt very proud of myself for not eating any of the cakes of biscuits that were up for grabs in my faculty office and making healthy choices at lunchtime! Slightly thrown by this years timetable though. As they're not sure how well I'll cope with being back at school they decided that…
  • Have run, walked, rowed, cycled and swum 225 miles in August and I had a bad month!
  • What's even worse is that everyone has an opinion on education and could do a teachers job without trying! In the UK I'm sick to death of reading in comments on news stories that teachers are lazy slackers who work from 9am to 3pm and don't know the meaning of stress. Excuse me, I've come into teaching from a very high…
  • I'm meant to be doing week 2 day 2 tomorrow, but think that I may join you back in week 1 again instead! My running fitness is proving to be the hardest thing to regain at the moment!
  • Wow. I've come to the conclusion that I have got the worlds best head teacher (principal for all of my American teachers), I've been off work since April with neuro issues. Got the all clear and was dreading going back to school full time on the 5th September ... I've been told that I'm only allowed to go back part time,…
  • Me, me, meeee! School starts back on Monday and am going to struggle to be good - we have no change over time, I teach A-level classes across the other side of school from my regular classroom ... argh, am dreading it at the moment! Plus everyone else in my faculty office are skinny minnies who can eat anything and…
  • In school we have to be very careful about what we teach kids (or so it seems) I decided to use BMI to teach students to rearrange formula and be able to substitute values into formulae (we have to make everything practical, no chalk and talk even in maths!). As it would be insensitive to get students to work out their own…
  • Working in a secondary school myself some of what I see is quite scary! PE is compulsory at our school up to the end of year 11, but ... quite a lot of the girls (mainly) just stand on the sidelines because they don't want to get hot and sweaty and mess up their hair. There are still a few kids who are really into sport…
  • Pants = rubbish
  • Just done week 1 day 2 today. Was a fanatical runner, but not now ... hoping that this gets me back into it again!
  • Come dine with me :0) gotta love it!
  • http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1559/quick-cottage-pie is a nice recipe. Comes in at 390 calories and is low fat. Sarah
  • I'd love to lose some boob-age, but they are determined to stay as GG. They just vary between 28 and 34 :0( When I'm at my normal weight I look like I'm going to topple over! Oh well, maybe this time they might shrink a little. DD would be nice :0D
  • South Somerset :)
  • I know, my best 10k time is 39mins. I have friends who have made the sub 20mins club :0( but on the up side I've done a sub 3:15 marathon and they haven't! I got into long distance running at your age (very unfit and overweight after stopping all sports training in my final year at uni) and managed to run my first (and…
  • It'll be fine, aim for an hour first then just try and improve each time! I know machines who can crank 10k out much faster than that, but they run 10k in my 5k time!
  • I can do 10km in about 55 mins on a intervals mode (swapping between level 12 and 5), on a normal, flat, boring mode then 12-15km an hour is a pretty good rate which would make 40-50 mins for 10km.

  • Fruit compote, yoghurt and granola. Yummy. Or scrambled egg with smoked salmon on wholemeal toast. Turkey bacon sandwich, sometimes with a poached egg as well. All of these are on my regular breakfast menu :0)
  • I'm a UK maths teacher and my faculty room is a nightmare. There is ALWAYS biscuits in the jar and cakes or pastries on the side. My A-level students constantly bring in cakes and goodies to share with the class and it's always so hard to turn their kind offers down It doesn't help that the other teachers in the faculty…
  • I wanted to be an Army field doctor or a teacher. Discovered that I was really squeamish and have ended up teaching maths, though have come at it via Engineering, Customs Officer and Accountant. Now I'd quite like to be a full time Mum if I ever grow up!
  • You need to make your food diary public if you want people to read it!
  • A decent bra fitter will not get a measuring tape out. Honestly. I go to Rigby and Peller regularly for special underwear and use bravissimo (http://www.bravissimo.com/) for day to day bras, swimwear and pretty fitted clothes (though M&S are finally starting to stock some bras in my size!). For years UK department stores…
  • Be brave and get out from under the desk! The only reason I got weighed was because they needed my weight to set up a bike, have been working hard to make sure that when I now weigh myself each week it's gone down ... still don't like scales though. Horrible things.
  • I exercise 13 days out of 14 alternating doing weights work every other day. As it's the school holidays I'll tend to spend between two and three hours working out, but when I go back to school it'll drop to between one and two hours on weekdays. Everybody is different though and the key thing is that you listen to your…
  • Nice to see positive pictures of fellow shorties! Have been working hard this last month and have managed to lose 6kg, the most important thing to me is getting fit again - the weight loss is an added bonus! I've avoided all cameras since getting huge (85kg when I finally managed to get on some scales which is not good at…
  • I stone is 14 pounds. Therefore 9 stone is 126lbs if you then add on the 11lbs that gives you 137lbs. HTH Sarah
  • To be honest it's very, very easy to eat healthy in Italy, on the coast there's lots of beautiful seafood and always salad. Most normal Italians have a good diet and it's always tasty, it's just if you constantly eat pizza and creamy, feast style dishes that you'd get in trouble. Gelato can be tempting, but if you're…
