  • I'm so jealous of all of you that are doing so well. I've been doing well on the treadmill but every time I take it oustside it results in epic failure. What the heck am I doing wrong? I knew transitioning from the treadmill to outside wouldn't be easy but I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in the last 6 weeks,…
  • You don't have to go to the gym. I don't and I'm down 17 lbs. Go for a walk/jog/run. Get a few workout DVD's. There are tons of ways to exercise without going to a gym. But yes, you can lose weight without exercising. When I was recovering from surgery I couldn't work out, not even go for a walk! I kept within my cals and…
  • Did day 1 week 7 today. I made it through with one 30 seoncd stop but it was tough for me, esp the last 5 minutes. May be a repeat week. We'll see how it goes. So, the podcast I listen to said it was a 25 min run, about 2.5 miles. My treadmill said I went 2.37 miles, my Nike+ on my Ipod said 3.3 miles. Which do you think I…
  • I need to check out the info for my HRM. I think maybe it says 154 is my max to keep it aerobic. I'm thinking over that and I may be anaerobic. Not sure but I'll do a little investigating. When it gets up there I feel fine so I'm not too worried about it.
  • I started it last week. I've done 4 days. I struggle with some of it but keep plugging away at it. The pushups and planks are the hardest for me. I've had 2 surgeries in the last 7 months that have done a number on my pecs. I'm trying to build my upper body strength but it's a challenge.
  • I have a Sole F63 and I love it. I was primarily walking on it but have started running too. The next one up has a longer deck and another half a horsepower for the motor. If you aren't into hardcore running on it though, the F63 works just fine. Bought it at D**k's Sporting Goods.
  • Finished week 6 today. (doing it on the treadmill) Didn't think I could do the 25 minute run (more like a jog for me-4.2mph, yes, I'm slow) I did have to take a 30 second break about half way through but got going again and felt good. Still struggling with keeping my heart rate in the zone though. Watching my breathing has…
  • You're doing great. We all are. This isn't any easy thing, at least I don't think so. Just plug away at it and we'll get there. I may be on week 6 but I feel way behind because I'm doing it on the treadmill and my pace is slow, about 15 min miles. But, I'm gonna keep doing it because in the long run I know I'm healthier…
  • To be blunt, it's nobody's business. I am the only one to suffer or benefit from what I eat or don't eat. My choices aren't affecting anyone else. I don't always eat clean and I don't deprive myself of things I want. This has to be a life change that I can live with forever. All in moderation. Losing weight and getting…
  • I get what you are saying but it does. Not necessarily to the person but to the doctor. When I go, my doc doesn't care how many inches off my waist, legs, arms, etc I've lost, she cares ultimately about the number on the scale. I think that is what they view as an indicator of good health. It sucks and isn't fair but for…
  • Awesome job on the weight loss. I've been working 3rd shift for 6 years I think. I'm one of the unfortunate ones that never has gotten used to it. I usually get to bed within an hour of getting home and sleep as long as I can. On a good day that's 7 hours. I highly recommend room darkening shades, a mask, anything so it's…
  • Repeated week 6 day one on the treadmill today. The last run (jog for me) was a challenge but I did the entire thing. I know I need to keep it outside but I guess I just don't feel ready. It counts for something that at least I can do it on the treadmill right? Sounds like everyone is doing a good job. Keep up the good…
  • I didn't run/jog the whole thing, about half, attempted day 1 week 6. I'm going to start week 5 over and bring it outside if the weather cooperates. There are 2 slight hills, nothing major. I think part of the problem is that I try to push myself more and don't have any idea how fast I'm going. As far as the heart rate, I…
  • Decided to finally take it outside this morning, starting week 6. Well it wasn't a complete disaster. Did a lot more walking than I wanted. Porbably a 50/50 mix of running amd walking. It's a start I suppose but I think I'll start over with week 4. At least I got the courage to finally go outside!
  • I finished week 5 today.(on treadmill) It really looks intimidating but you all can do it. I kind of freaked when I got to the last day and a 20 minute run. WTH? I just set my mind to it and did it. If I can, anyone can. On that note, I have a couple of questions. Do any of you wear a HRM when you're running and what do…
  • Yes they are! I just finished day 2, week 5. The second 8 minutes was challenging. But I did it. Not sure about the 3rd day though. it's going to be tough. I think it's getting to be more of a mind game at this point. We just have to put our mins to it and the rest of the body will follow. Hopefully.
  • I have always battled with being overweight. Strong family history of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov 2011. One of the best things to minimize my chance of recurrence is to lose the excess weight. 15 down, 35 to go!
  • So, I finally decided to take my running outside on Saturday. I finished week 4 on Thursday and was visiting family so thought I'd give it a wirl. Boy was I disappointed in myself. I got through the first half ok but really struggled with the second half. I think I only ran a couple of minutes. I'm hoping that I was just…
  • I'm a bit ahead. Not sure how that happened. I'm listening to Robert Ullrey's c25k podcasts and I think I skipped a day here and there. Oops. So, I just finished week 4 day 1. Awesome. I was really nervous, a 5 minute run, twice? But it really wasn't problem. Yeah, the second time I got tired at the end but I felt so good…
  • I had the same problem when I started. Luckily it has resolved for the most part. I did a google search and found some running sites that showed different stretches. One I do all the time, even when I'm not working out is to have my feet flat on the floor and raise my toes, keeping my heels planted. It really has helped.…
  • Week 2 done! Yay! Week 3 doesn't seem too bad, it's week 4 that's got me nervous. All in time I say. Good work everyone.
  • I'm sure we're doing just fine! Like you said, has to be doing some good.
  • Week 2, day 1 complete! Yay! I've been really conscious about stretching before and after to help with the shin issues. No probs today! Even picked up the pace a bit. Well, only for the last 2 running intervals but hey, it's a start.
  • On my non-c25k days I do the treadmill for an hour. Today I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and a 40 minute Taebo DVD. I need to start mixing it up a bit. We'll get there!
  • Day 3 complete. Awesome. Still working on the shin pain though and hope it goes away completely at some point. Oh, and I'm doing this on the treadmill right now. I'll move it outside at some point.
  • Week 1 days 1 and 2 done. I'm amazed at how good I feel after. I'm liking this.
  • I work 3rd shift. I still eat 3 meals a day and just log them differently. I count what I eat during my shift as my lunch, just like you would if you worked days. Sometimes I eat breakfast at work and sometimes at home still put it as breakfast and dinner is normal. I put it all on the same day. So, what I've eaten at work…
