I'm thinking I'll go with the polite grace under pressure but don't let them push you around. Discreetly dispose of the fly into a napkin. Call over waitstaff, quietly, without fanfare explain the situation, and ask for a new drink and napkin. Apologize to your guest for the brief interruption and shift the conversation…

I'm in NWA, just south of Fayetteville. Search doesn't find the group.

The problem I see with this...I've had to take in my watch band during the course of my weight loss, so my wrist measurement has changed. Would my frame size be changing too?

You all do realize that none of you ARE the number on the label of your clothes, right? You are all wonderful, intelligent, beautiful women. Some of you happen to wear clothes with different abstract symbols used to identify them...those symbols are not you and you are not those symbols.

It depends on what workout I'm doing...if it's a "slow, jog" type of day then the elliptical will sometimes give a higher calorie count. If it's a "make the machine scream like it's being beaten" morning then the hrm is usually higher. I definitely have a higher calorie burn when I'm out on the road vs on the elliptical.…

When I lived in South Korea the typical breakfast that you could find or would be served there was rice, kimchi, and soup. I love all three of those things but my western stomach/taste buds would only let me eat those things for breakfast on the rare occasion that there wasn't anything else (such as a granola bar)…

I'm of the opinion that you're doing it the most sensible way. This whole thing should be about life enhancement, not deprivation. Incremental adjustments are the way to go. I've lost 39.5 pounds since last August. I never made any huge changes...just a whole bunch of small ones. Some things I changed and didn't like the…

There have been several threads on MFP of late where someone posts about deciding that some guy at the gym is being "creepy". Immediately there is a flood of "talk to management about getting him thrown out" type of replies. I just thought folks should see the other side of that type of situation. The situation described…

Are you using the stopwatch function on the fitbit to frame your exercise periods? If you hold the button in for more than a second the stopwatch will start..do the same at the end. I think those calories 'earned' during a timed activity period stick around even if you go nap on the couch the rest of the day. I could be…

So, if I walked up to you while you were wearing a blue shirt and said "Nice red shirt you have on.", would your shirt turn red or would you believe me? Probably not. You would correctly observe that I possibly had some type of mental condition and start looking around for my keeper. Same thing applies to the dipstick in…

I'm thinking you might wait until it comes in, use it for a while and see it the current settings work for you. See how many calories it gives you for moving around. See how well it matches what MFP is saying you should get. See what your body tells you. It will take a bit of adjusting the settings to see what best matches…

What do you have your lifestyle/activity level set at. If it's set a sedentary, then the fitbit will give you quite a few extra calories as you move around during the day. If you've set it higher than sedentary then the base calorie allowance does seem really low.

If you feel someone is judging you while your working out... arch one eyebrow up, give them a 2 second hard stare, and beam the words "BITE ME" at them really hard. Then move on with your workout. Seriously though...they're probably thinking the same thing about you..OMG, that fantastic looking person over there is judging…

The function of property confiscation through taxation is not to control personal behavior. The sole purpose of taxation is to raise the funds necessary to the essential functions of the government and those essential functions are actually quite minimal. Any other form of taxation is wrong.

Absolutely correct...

Who are "they" that they should have ANY say over me or what I put into my body?

It might be a public place but it's still private property and the government's job isn't to regulate the activities of consenting adults on private property. If you are worried about second hand smoke...don't go there. Punish them by with holding YOUR dollars but don't enforce your views on others. And for the record...I…
