  • My husband (also a MFP member but not active) also inhales his food and eats in strange (to me) patterns, so i can relate. I am so glad that you brought up your EDs on this thread because i wanted to mention his (perhaps unaware) response to that may be a portion of what is going on. You constrict your food severely and as…
  • LOL I know JUST what you mean about being a friggin chemist     I am the same way! If it makes you feel any better, i just recorded my first official measurements this past weekend --- after a year and a half and nearly 65 pounds lost! Ok, disclaimer: i wanted to order some summer clothes online…
  • judging by your profile picture alone, i would say your goal should be set to lose only 0.5 lbs a week and you should be accurately (as possible) measuring/counting/weighing/recording both your food intake and your exercise expenditures. You need to be eating back your exercise calories as well. If the pic in your profile…
  • ^^ yep, that! :) :drinker: Congrats on your clothes feeling looser and on your runs. Sounds like you're doing great! (but i would swap out a cardio day or two for some weight training if i were you)
  • :flowerforyou: Just a note on the MFP "starvation warning": it ONLY shows when your daily intake is under 1200, thats not 1200 NET calories, its just straight up 1200.... WE need to be sure the NET is making it to 1200~!!! I wish Mike would change the warning to 1200 NET calories, but until that happens, we need to be…
  • to the OP: i have seen various numbers for minimum NET calories consumed, ususally in the 1500-1600 calorie range for MEN. You said that you are set to a 750 calorie deficit currently, that you're eating just over 1600 NET calories daily and that you are at a standstill on your scale. Question 1: what is your current BMI?…
  • Exactly what i experience! Its nice to know i am not alone in this phenomenon... i hear so many ppl on MFP saying they gain weight at that time and i have felt like the oddball  I guess we can be oddballs together
  • i have to LOL at this because i am the weirdo who always LOSES weight on day 2... i guess i am holding weight before-hand, making it seem like my weight loss is at a small standstill and when things start happening w TOM, my water retention issues are resolved and my weight takes a sudden nose dive. Its happend 4 or 5…
  • this is EXCELLENT advice and deserves to be on the thread twice! :drinker:
  • great article! I want to be strong and toned, to hell with skinny! I've got a way to go still, but I'm getting there, slowly, and by reading articles like this, i remember that this is a *lifetime project*, not some silly "goal" that i am trying to get to :drinker:
  • A few ideas that require only minimal (or no) prep work at home, and can be brought into work to make it thru several days or for grab-n-go errand-filled days: apple, banana, other piece of fresh fruit Emerald Breakfast-on-the-go packages. (nuts, granola, dried fruits, etc) Clif Mojo bars. Perfectly salty/sweet and won't…
  • maybe a cirumsized elephant's penis? Congrats on your loss!
  • thank you everyone!! :blushing: Its just nice to mark this day, because oddly, it really feels "special" to me to hit my 200 day mark :drinker: To the ppl who mentioned the running, I too am a C25K'er and i HIGHLY recommend it! (started C25K in October 2010) If you are a walker and you don't think you're ready for running…
  • Its a deal! I will be back 200 days from now looking for you! :) Just love yourself for where you are at. Weightloss & fitness is not a linear path, so sometimes it will feel more like you're going in circles, but rest assured: its a spiral staircase and you are always making progress! Be open to your journey.... great…
  • thanks! It really goes to show that a given number will look different on a variety of heights/body types/builds. Very important not to get too hung up on a number as you get nearer to your goal and just look at the overall picture & your health, IMO! .... I am 5'10" so i can stretch my 165 lbs vertically quite a bit hehehe
  • well, they are actually more than 200 days apart photo-wise... I have my 200 day log-in on MFP today, but didnt find the site for a while AFTER that first shot was taken and my login days were reset a few times in the early stages so.... but yes, thank you for the compliment :) I'm working on getting my running times up...…
  • according to that chart I've lost a (well-endowed!) elephant penis AND a human brain!! LOL!
  • I've lost over 60 lbs and am 10-ish pounds from "goal" (a moving target) and while my c-section hangover has gotten much smaller, its still there and is my #1 problem spot. And for a "pear shaped girl" to say her BELLY is the problem spot tells you how much i HATE that flab! I'm not sure it will ever be "flat" but so long…
  • <-- me, right after earning a new 'personal best' in a local 5k (29:59). Only a few weeks ago too... I like to keep a current picture up because i think constantly SEEING my "new" self helps me to wrap my mind around my changing body. I am much fatter in my head than i am in reality (though i still have quite a bit of…
  • :drinker: i totally second this!! :drinker:
  • i think a healthier dessert is perfect! When i went to Thanksgiving with the extended family i offered to do the nibbly-munchies before hand. I think a few were nervous lol... I brought: water crackers with laughing cow light cheese wedges (a few varieties) reduced fat triscuits with 50% reduced fat cheddar organic…
  • As for my Earth Day activities: I am planting peas with my kiddos after lunch then we will go on a nature trek --- our annual tradition. Then i will be packing the dozens of boxes and bags for charity in my car to drop off tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is my "adopt-a-highway" cleanup weekend with the local runner's club, so…
  • There are good stewards of the Earth from all walks of life and all spiritual and non-spiritual pursuasions.... I believe being a good steward of the Earth is an important religious mandate that is all too often overlooked (and yes, i am a follower of one of the "major 3 religions"). Taking care of creation and being in…
  • thats cool, except i would flip it on its head, making the first 18 a mini-goal, then 15 more, then 9 more, then 5 more, then the final 3 ... The timeframe to lose those final pounds would make it an EXTREMELY long time between goals 4 & 5 otherwise. If you think you want a fast goal setting out (to set the ball in…
  • well, much like dieting and working out when you're just starting out: you need to harden yourself to the critics and figure out how to do things smart for YOU. Some stores are much more coupon-friendly than others. Then again, there are the cashiers who act like you are taking the money from THEIR pocket ulgh. The…
  • Here is a breakdown of how *I* think it might be healthy for your weight loss goal, considering 45 will get you to goal, YOUR 45 lbs is not the same as someone with much more to lose's 45 lbs... lose 2 lbs/wek for 5 weeks = 10 lbs lose 1.5 lbs/week for 10 weeks = 15 lbs lose 1.0 lbs/week for 10 weeks = 10 lbs lose 0.5…
  • LOL, you just made my night ... And you are welcome!! :flowerforyou:
  • ulgh, thats my pet peeve of the couponing world! Buying total crap food in insane quantities because its cheap or free. ULGH. I just saw a woman posting how she had purchased like 20 boxes of brownie mix for close to nothing and at first i was like whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy why would anyone need that many brownies?!?! And then at…
