controlling portion size, concentrating on nutrient-dense foods, cutting back on processed foods, thinking of food as fuel for my body instead of just yummy stuff to "make me feel good" (yeah, that was working in the short-term only!), letting myself have an 80/20 rule where i let 20% or less of my food be not-as-healthy…

going to a maple sugaring thing... with free pancake breakfast and sampling, God help me! lol

I'm laid-back, down-to-earth, genuine and i love to make others laugh. :drinker:

upstate NY :) And by "upstate" i dont mean Westchester or the Catskills lol  ... i am truly UPstate :flowerforyou:

if every day were like today, i would be chronicly under-rested, my legs would ache whether sitting, standing or running and i would spend several hours sitting under a pile of blankets with my cuddlebug (3) who is not feeling well. Thank God not every day will be like today! And i know even later today will be…

i think a good compromise is in order: maybe pick a day or two to walk/bike/hike/kick a ball/throw a frisbee/clean the garage/do the spring yardwork etc together and make it a family affair. Be active together and think of it as being active instead of thinking of it as a workout (and then maybe it won't be as frustrating…

this was such a fun thread to look thru! here i am on my 2nd kiddo's delivery day: (all-time high weight of 251lbs) this is somewhere around 230 (spring/summer 2009) and here is a current (169) and before (228-- which is what i consider my "starting weight"): I've lost 59 lbs since December 2009, most of them after i found…

and i dare say that people who incorporate exercise into their routine stick to the lifestyle change (eating better/acheiving/maintaining a healthy weight) better than those who don't.... If you want this to truly work, you need to learn how to be HEALTHY and part of being healthy is incorporating a reasonable level of…

i agree that you should not be looking to lose pounds on the scale, but instead work on toning the muscle you have. It will change the way your body looks completely. You are already at an ideal weight for your height (actually, a bit under it). Its going to take work, but think of how much better you will look and how…

congratulations! Your success is DEFINITELY showing!! :) You'll be in Onederland before you know it! :drinker:

I have no idea how to get the head to catch up with the body... i guess in time it will just happen. I am 5'10" so even though i've lost 59 lbs so far, and i am into the "healthy" BMI range, i still think of myself as "a big girl"... well, i am; at 5'10" i will never be a "little girl" and that can wear on me if i let…

i would say, pretty much to anyone who only had 10 more pound to lose to get to goal that they should be set at 0.5lbs a week for your goal and let MFP calculate your calorie goal for you (since that will vary based on your height, gender, age, activity level, etc)
-
i just love it when people are being sensible :) Yay! --- i am going to be upping my calories (again) shortly when i officially move to 0.5 lbs a week goal :)

   I love it! And i have to say, for the most part, i am flying free! I love this journey and all of its twists and turns. I find that my HEAD is getting to a healthy place along with my body :) BUT, I'm not sure i am ready to SHARE the photos i took that show my stretch marks though l:laugh:

As bizzare as it sounds, i have been in a pattern of seeing barely any weightloss durning a 3-week span, then start TOM and WHAM a weight LOSS! I know! Weird! But i seem to LOSE weight when i've weighed in on day 2 or 3 of TOM (i only weigh in 1x a week or so).... This has happened to me several times in the past few…

awesomeness! :drinker:  :flowerforyou:   :glasses: :smooched:

thanks everyone :) My colar bones are one of my fav features now lol .... I do have quite a belly pooch still but it doesn't show so much in that photo. I estimate 10-15 pounds and it will be (mostly) gone. I also carry most of my weight from the middle, down and am thinner on top than on the bottom, so i need to start…

if you WANT to eat a slice of pizza or even two, by all means, DO! Just figure a way to work it into your calorie allotment for the day. If you think you won't be filled up, try a broth-based soup (low sodium one!) and/or a side salad with a lite vinaigrette dressing or salsa instead of dressing in addition to one slice of…

Since you are only having 2 cups of coffee daily, the minimal addition of calories from agave nectar vs an artificial sweetener should not have any adverse affect on your weight. Your body is going to be happy to have 50 calories of natural stuff vs 0 calories of chemical sweetener, IMO. I think you were headed for a…

i suggest tracking sodium on your daily food log in addition to the carbs, protein, fats you are already tracking. I think you may find you are high in sodium and i see you are low on water, so be sure to do that: cut back on sodium and increase water. Also, make sure when you "back out your exercise calories earned" you…

:blushing: thanks everyone! I hope to be posting some truly awesome photos by the end of the summer! :) This final stretch is going to be a long, slow exercise in patience, but time is going to pass anyways, right? :) And then there is maintenance... hmmmm.....

life happens! Now, back on the wagon!! :)

Love your smart approach to this!! Great work!

so far i've gotten a $50 Gap Groupon for $25 and a 6 month newspaper subscription (for my mom) for $7... I do look at them occasionally, but i am more on the prowl for good grocery coupons (healthy grocery coupons!). I ALMOST ALLLLLLLLLLMOST bought a Groupon earlier this week for a 40 minute hotair balloon ride & picnic…

yes, i could post the less-dressed version to prove it! LOL! :blushing:

my usual suspects are blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, peaches, pears, etc but i recently bought a bag of frozen dark sweet cherries (i believe its Dole brand) and i let a portion of those defrost and topped my cottage cheese with them. Very yummy and i am not a huge cherry fan (though starting to like them more!). my…

well mine is green and i think if i smear just a tiny bit of natural peanut butter on it and fill it with strawberries, i could roll it up and slice it like strombolli .............. Maybe i'll eat just one portion at a time.
