  • I needed to hear this today. Well said. Quoting/posting so I can save and re-read this when I need to.
  • Kellymom has some great info on dieting/exercise. - http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mom-weightloss.html Here is info from the site. I totally trust Kellymom as they post their references. Does exercise affect milk supply or nutrient content? No. Studies have shown no difference in the volume or composition of the…
  • So let's say I did eat 3500 cal OVER in a day (you know, in theory only...) that doesn't mean I'll automatically gain 1 lb the next day...right? My question that I've never been able to find a solid answer to is how long it does take?
  • Thanks guys!!
  • I say eat. Even if you are going to be over by a few hundred cal because you still need to eat a decent dinner, it's better to have something now and avoid binging later. As long as you don't go totally nuts right now, a few hundred calories today won't make or break you!
  • Angel food cake!
  • That big long post and the only thing I can focus on is that question.... what??
  • Cool blog, thanks for sharing! I'm going to follow you!
  • Not going to be a ton of help because I don't have anything to back this up...but I was under the assumption that was the whole point of an HRM that calculates calories. That it IS smart enough to adjust calories burned based on your heart rate (and the data you enter regarding your weight, height, etc). Again, since I…
  • Ok sorry, I know this isn't the most positive thing to say but I have to ask becuase it's bugging me... if you "can't help" becuase you don't connect to FB why did you even respond when the question was specifically about connecting to facebook?? Why not just click to the next topic? I know this post isn't helpful to the…
  • WOW, you guys are awesome! Thank you for all the responses, support and honestly. I love the idea of tracking my distance, time and how I feel. Also I need to just register for a 5K so I have it as a goal date. Thank you guys again, seriously. You've given me the motivation and confidence to keep going.
  • Also, paging back in your diary a few weeks there are several days that you didn't track and many that look incomplete. If you aren't consistently tracking you might be eating more calories than you think.
  • Interesting reading. Thanks!
  • I shouLd clarify that I don't Plan to consume that much in one day. I'm more curious about it because I hear a lot of people state that what they ate the day before caused then to gain on the scale the next day. But really that is just bloat and not real weight? Or peoe who starve themselves the day before a weigh in....it…
  • Track everything no matter what! Even if you know you went over, make sure to log it. It has really helped me stay accountable and be aware of what I’m eating. I go by the motto "Just because I didn't track it doesn't mean it didn't happen!". I wasn't successful on WW previously because I would lie to myself... I would eat…
  • I think everyone has given great suggestions, but wanted to chime in to remind you not to be too hard on yourself. Your baby is still so young and your body is still healing and getting back to normal (even though they tend to give the 'all clear' at the 6 week check up). Taking care of an infant is stressfull enough…
  • Would love to try this but shipping is $10! Makes one order $25! And doesn't look like there are any stores in my area that sell it. If anyone finds a cheaper way to get it online let me know!
  • Agreed, looked at your diary and you are eating low calories but not being healthy. You need more calories and protein and/or reduce the exercise. Four hours is excessive and not necessary.
  • Like a previous poster said, add sodium to your diary to track and try to stay under the daily goal. Also I looked back a few days in your diary and I didn't see any fruits and one veggie a day. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies with meals and snacks, it'll help a lot. Especially as you start to look at sodium you'll have…
  • Thanks for all the responses! And thanks for being encouraging about my lack of activity right now. I'm trying not to beat myself up over it because I know I have more important things to focus on right now, but I don't want to use it as too much of an excuse either. With my first daughter I nursed until 6m and didn't…
  • Thanks! Even two at 140 cal sounds like a good breakfast!
  • I was just thinking about this today. I think we are going to have grilled chicken strips with different sauces, homemade salsa and baked chips and lots of fruit!
  • Thanks... I do now see a 'calorie consumption' screen and will look into it. Either it's just me or the instructions that came with mine aren't very clear ... probably just me! :)
  • I have a 2.5yr old and a 2m old and am having a hard time finding time to work out as well! But, I just tell myself that my kids are priority and eventually things will calm down enough for me to get regular activity in. If I can eat healthy and stick to my calorie goal that's better than what I was doing before. I've lost…
  • Bravo!! I get the concept and that it works for people but hate the word "cheat". If you're going to do this than do it... Don't give yourself an exuse to half-*kitten* it one day/meal out of the week.
  • Also, be careful about MFP's calorie burned counts in regards to cardio. I find them way too high, causing a lot of people to think they burned more calories than they actually do. Invest in a heart rate monitor or use the one on the machne so you can calculate calories burned yourself. Mine are often half of what MFP…
  • I haven't found any that I like as much as MFP...there was a 'top 10 of 2010' for Health Apps in the app store a week ago (not sure if it's still there) and they had a few other calorie counting apps for free...but again nothing that compares to this one!
  • Baby Carrots dipped in salsa! It may sound odd, but is really good and very low cal.
  • What kind of dinners does she make? You could try finding something similar online and using the recipe builder to calc cals. Or some sites already have them calculated for you. You could at least get an estimate.
