I was were you were at this time exactly one year ago. I'm now 71lbs closer to my goal. 71lbs lost in one year averages out to about 1.3lbs a week, it doesn't seem like that much each week but in one year it's a HUGE amount. Remember that this is not a diet, it's a lifestyle. So you must be able to learn how to eat a…

Basically. Also no matter what when you are close to goal weight and in the healthy range WHAT type of calories you are eating DO matter for weight loss/muscle toning. If you have a lot of weight to lose early on, just having a deficit is fine, at least for me it was. But now I'm only 12ish pounds from my goal and a…

You can't spot reduce fat, so you have to lower overall body fat and the belly is the last place many of us (myself included) lose the weight. BUT if we work out well, strength train and eat clean then when the fat does come off that last area the muscles will be nice and toned and flat underneath. Just keep plugging along!

I don't eat low fat, I do a 40/30/30 split (carbs, protein and fat) Fat is a good thing for us, just the right kinds of fat and in the proper amount. I don't buy or eat "diet" food either. 71 lbs in 1 year lost and I'm losing weight, toning up and feeling so much better than I ever have.

You can't spot reduce fat, so the key is to reducing overall body fat by losing weight and toning up, so that when the belly finally lets go of the weight (usually the last place to lose it) then the muscles underneath are nice and strong and toned.

I always ask myself, tomorrow will I regret that I didn't go, or regret that I did go? If I'm feeling bad enough that I know I won't regret it then it's okay to skip a workout when you're REALLY not feeling good.

I like My face, it's always been pretty My hair, it listens well My boobs, I like having big boobs My butt, it looks great now My calves, smooth and athletic My brain because it is smart My arms because they are smoother and stronger now then they used to be My personality because I'm always the outgoing on, never shy My…

I'm doing C25K and starting New Rules for Lifting for women also, though I've been doing strength training of some kind for several months. I run 3 days a week, bike one or two and lift on the biking days. I don't usually take off an day entirely from working out, I just vary it so that I'm not working the same stuff all…

Honestly I think you're being too sensitive about it. If you offend someone then they aren't really your friends. On here we don't really know most of the people we are "friends" with, they won't be our friends in 50 years either. I'm from Wisconsin and use pet names but only for people I REALLY know or care about, good…

You're eating WAY too far under your goal. You can eat up to your goal and lose weight, eating less than 1200 calories (and 1500 calories for a man) will put you into starvation mode. If you work out then you need to eat even more and your NET calories should be those minimums, not just consumed. Eat more, lose more :D…

I swear it's not a cop out but I have a husband that is both. He IS honest about my weight and will tell me that I've gained weight or if something it too tight etc if I ask him BUT he also loves me for me and if I said I was happy with myself at any weight he's happy too. He's always thought I was gorgeous no matter my…

There's a bridge to 10k program on the C25K website somewhere. I know someone else who has used it, I'm just not there yet so I don't know exactly where to find it.

You can't spot reduce fat, you need to lose it all over and your body decides where the last place it wants to lose is (for many of us the tummy). If you keep plugging along it will happen though. You can start weight training and working those muscles so that when you do get there that the muscles under the fat are nice…

aww Patriot ;) Thanks so much. I FEEL like a very different person now. I feel more alive honestly. I feel like I could do anything and be anything (which is good since I'm in school to be a nurse). I'm looking for new and fun challenges for myself and I look for excuses to DO things! I had no idea how run down I was just…

I'm not there yet but I have a minimum of 83lbs to lose (that is the VERY TIPPY TOP of my healthy BMI) so I can definitely go farther. Today was my 365th day in a row logging in and in that time I have lost 71lbs. It works out to 1.3lbs a week for 52 weeks. The end is harder than the beginning because I'm closer to my goal…

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I already buy organic and local as much as I can. So we've reduced the amount of junk we ingest that way. So I think I like the idea of easing into something more by starting with one meal and then working up to it being everything (or almost everything). I don't think I can completely give…

I'm a bra and panty snob. So almost nothing I own gets to a year old. I have drawers full of matching things :o It makes me feel pretty no matter what my weight was. This last year has been hard because of that and so I keep buying only a handful of bras (the panties last longer in weight loss) as I need them and I can not…

Depends on what size you are, and what type of bra you're looking for. I'm currently a 36DD and LOVE Enell bras for workouts, I don't care that they are UGLY they do the job and I can run in them. I started at a 40DDD 70lbs ago and they worked then too. For day to day bras I really love Lane Bryant, we have a full Casique…

I'm working on endurance, speed comes later. So right now I run on the treadmill at 1.0 incline at 4.2 mph (about 12:38 a mile LOL). I have NEVER run before this, I just finished W7D1 yesterday. I can run faster, but not for 20 min, so it's more important to do the time first then up the speed. When I'm outside and not on…

We take it after working out because it helps build (rebuild) muscles.

It's an essential amino acid, not made by animals (we get it from plants and bacteria). So we need it as a building block for protein. There are structural proteins, (muscles, bones, cell walls etc) and functional proteins (hormones, digestive enzymes and antibodies).

Starting weight 242lbs, 5'7" Taken on August 9th or so last year, says my pictures were moved, in the 12 seconds It took to post, so here is the link http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b397/melickit/Weight%20loss/IMG_0421.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b397/melickit/Weight%20loss/IMG_0422.jpg Last official pics at…

I admit I weigh every morning, but it doesn't bother me to see the scale go up here and there depending on what I ate the day before. So for some people that would make them obsess about the scale. I weigh in the morning, after going potty, naked. Then I go about my day and don't worry. My official weigh in day is Wed and…

You need a rest day. no one should work out EVERY SINGLE DAY. Take a break, your body is telling you that you need it.
-
You need to consume more protein than MFP has set for you to help maintain lean muscle (mixing cardio for weight loss and weight lifting). There's no way to JUST lose fat, your body does lose muscle when you lose weight. So it's a balancing act. Lose skin is the result of previous rapid (or long term) weight gain, and then…

I started here at 242 and can tell you from experience you NEED to eat all your calories. You should be eating back exercise calories as well but at the very minimum if you get 1600 calories before exercise EAT THEM. Then if you work out and burn 400 more, you should eat some/most of those. You WILL lose weight that way.…

I don't have the links handy but there have recently been issues with people having the tendons in the back of the leg being permanently shortened because of these shoes. I will not be buying them that's for sure. As a nursing student I've seen how your body is supposed to work.

proper shoes for biking, Bike shorts/pants because otherwise you can chafe. Having the proper bike seat and bike fit is important too. Also a fix it kit for tires/chain. I carry one with me whenever I bike because I don't want to be 10 miles from home and get a flat tire. I'm in Milwaukee area, and I'd bike in Milwaukee,…

I don't run every day (or walk) because it's hard on the knees. You need some cross training in there. I run every other day (and not at my FASTEST pace but a sustainable one) and then I use the elliptical machine, or bike on off days. I love to swim but can't get to the pool that often. Your knees need a different kind of…
