  • This is good to hear, I probably overly worry about this kind of stuff and of course I want myself and my patient to be safe :D
  • Well I had over 80lbs to lose to even hit the TOP of healthy BMI and by following MFP's guidelines I lost 4 or 5lbs the FIRST week I was here (2lbs a week recommended calories) and there were several others after that where I lost that or more too. Then it slowed down so in a year it's still averaged out to about 1.3lbs a…
  • I'm in trouble too, it's my cell phone. So as long as the battery lives I have a flashlight app LOL.
  • some of this is just growing up, and realizing that doing stupid stuff while drunk isn't that fun anymore. I'd rather go to a good show and have a good dinner with friends (single or married) than get **** faced and fall down the stairs. I'm 29 and got over doing that stuff awhile ago, most of my other friends who are the…
  • Smug about what exactly? I admit that my husband and I are those cutsey dripping with love kind of people (and married 10 years already). The kind of in love with him that I believe he lasso'd the moon (lol movie reference!) Etc. We're best friends, love being together, holding hands, calling each other cute names, having…
  • You can not spot reduce, you have to lose weight overall to lose it in the stomach, and for many of us women it's the LAST place to go. I'm very happy with the rest of my measurements but the last 10-15lbs better come off my stomach LOL. You can tone up the muscles underneath too so that as the fat comes off the muscles…
  • All siggies except tickers aren't there anymore, there was a post about it in one of the info places, people were abusing it. You can retrieve your info though.
  • I started with over 80lbs to lose in Aug 2010. I set LOTS of mini-goals. First was to eat within my calories for my goal of losing 2lbs a week. I didn't worry about adding exercise or anything at first. I needed to learn ONE new thing at a time. I lost quite a bit early on that way because I had a significant amount…
  • You have to pick something that works for YOU and stick with it. MFP will not give you the same numbers as any of the other 352646 forums/calculators out there. I stay here because this works for me. Would other programs? Probably. I had a lot of weight to lose (over 80lbs) and there's NO way I could have eaten for the…
  • You may actually gain weight while losing fat and building muscle (with a calorie surplus if done properly) but your measurements will be smaller so totally worth it! Staci is my weight lifting hero and proof that the number on the scale is not the only thing that matters, she weighs more at the end than in the middle and…
  • THIS! Just because people have disagreements does NOT mean everyone fights and yells or is miserable. I've been happily married 10 years already and I can count on one hand the number of REAL fights we've had, everything else has been minor and we sit down and work it out talking like real adults.
  • While disagreements and arguments are part of a relationship and aren't something to be ashamed of there is a fine line between allowing your child to see that and leaning on your child. No parent should take their problems to their child, I don't care if they are grown, about their relationship with their partner…
  • Whatever color the farmer gives us. I tend to get mine locally and it just depends, there are many more brown eggs but there's a white one in there too. They all taste the same from the same farmer.
  • The thing is how long ago did you start eating like this? What did you eat like before? I KNEW I was waaay overeating before so the first couple of weeks of normal eating I thought I was starving. My body got used to it and I don't starve anymore.
  • I started in Aug 2010 and stopped logging regularly in probably Sept this year. I just needed the break and I have learned to eyeball things REALLY well actually. I've just been maintaining which is fine for now. I just ordered Jillian Michael's 30DS to bust out these last 10lbs or so (or inches really!!) I think it's…
  • You do NOT have to run to be healthy and/or lose weight. If you have knee problems you NEED to be working with a doctor. More than likely you should use an elliptical machine, a bike or swimming, but NOT running. Running is hard on good knees, there's just no way that's good for someone who's had surgery on both and having…
  • I admit that the spray is one of my favorite things for over air popped popcorn. I figure whatever horrible stuff is in it isn't really going to kill me on popcorn once and awhile.
  • Proof that the scale is not the ultimate goal!!! :D I started at a STUFFED into an 18 and now I'm at a 10/12. I'm more interested in losing inches than pounds now, though another 10lbs or so would be nice!
  • I have a pair of leather pants from when I was 17 (12 years ago) and they are a size 10. When I was that size I was my ideal weight and measurements. I was somewhere about 142lbs (5'7") and 36,25,36 and while I can get them on and zipped right now they do not really fit. I'm currently 166lbs and yet I'm in a 10/12 most of…
  • Get fitted for shoes at a real running store where they evaluate your gate. Do not expect to run a lot right away, something like Couch to 5K (C25K) is great to get you used to upping running compared to walking. Take it slow You do NOT have to be a runner to lose weight or be in shape, you should run because you LIKE it…
  • We eat rice fairly often and I'm at 1390 calories (before exercising) and I usually eat 2/3-1 cup of rice when we have it with a meal. I LOVE stir fry so the rice is necessary. I did switch to brown rice instead of white rice.

  • I know people say it all the time but I've found that P90X is REALLY hard to estimate without a heart rate monitor. Otherwise log it as circuit training or aerobics.
  • I do often retain some water but I RARELY give into weird cravings because I know it's not good for me. I allow myself to stay within my calories and have something I'm craving (usually chocolate) but I rarely gain more than 1-2lbs of water weight. So not all women give in.
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eC5toC0vms If you live someplace it gets cold that video is great for how to dress in the cold. I'm in Wisconsin and we are cold! Yak Trax are a must I hear as well. This will be my first winter doing some outdoor running (I also have a treadmill though).
  • yay! I have a Livestrong that I got from ****'s sporting goods (hate that it gets bleeped!!) And it really got me through last winter when I was just starting out!! I now share my time on it and my treadmill, and outside but it will always be my first love!
  • I once read it takes your brain SIX MONTHS to catch up to what you really look like. It has definitely taken me time to REALLY see the difference in the mirror. It's why I think that the progress pictures are so important. Looking back I'm like "DUH that made a difference" but at the time it didn't feel like that much.…
  • I'm at 76lbs lost and starting Aug 8, 2010. The last 10lbs will probably take me til after Christmas, they are BRUTAL hard (UGH!) but so worth it. I liked setting LOTS of mini-goals to keep me motivated and not make me feel like it was going to take forever. Those helped me really focus on the short term instead of…
  • bump your incline to at least 1.5 I like the treadmill because it forces me to keep an even tempo. Bumping your incline up from nothing (or 1) helps simulate outside more normally.
  • Walden Farms makes a zero calorie dressing (well a lot of them actually). I used it early on to wean myself off the Ranch on everything attitude. It tastes pretty good! I only use it occasionally now so I don't mind using regular or low fat Ranch for something. Edit: I often use a half cup of cottage cheese instead of…
  • that's the great thing about MFP. The more you work out the more you get to eat. Eat back most (all) of your work out calories and you'll still continue to lose weight!! If you don't have a HRM (heart rate monitor) I'd suggest getting one so that you can accurately log your workout calories (since MFP just estimates).
