Water intoxication is extremely rare. The odds of you drinking too much water are so much smaller than the benefits of drinking lots of water that I wouldn't bother thinking about it. That said, normal healthy kidneys process 1 liter of water/hour (about 1/4 gallon) so if you are exceeding that there is a risk of…

Starting insanity probably has your muscles retaining extra fluid while they repair. That probably accounts for at least some of the slowing/stopping. You might try messing with you proportions of carbs/protein/fat too, if you keep an eye on those in addition to calories. Retaining water from sodium and your menses could…

I am the very definition of a pear. I think my last measurements were 35-30-44, and that was a loss of 3 inches up top and .5 inch in the hips. Makes buying jeans impossible, but other than that I don't mind too much.

I did the same (well, WAY worse actually) on Monday. I just went nuts with food. I don't even know what happened. I logged it and moved on. Okay, I beat myself up mentally, then logged it and moved on. I've been back on point with my food and exercise the rest of the week, and today my weight was down. One day won't effect…

Depends what I'm doing. If I'll only be running or elliptical or that kind of machine cardio I wear shorts and a t-shirt (dri fit/technical if I have a clean one). If I'm doing weights or a class I wear fitted capris or pants so I don't flash people up the shorts.

I used to be a full-time nanny, and I still do tons of babysitting. I try to keep the kids and myself active by playing outside (they love when I chase them, then pick them up and swing them around when I catch them). The kids I nannied did kiddie soccer, gymnastics, dance, swim lessons, etc. I know those things can be…

In all fairness to your former self, graduation robes don't do anything good for anybody's figure ;) You look amazing! Thanks for the encouraging post.

I had a similar experience this morning. I dropped almost 5 pounds between yesterday morning and this morning. Yesterday I was under my calories by about 130, but that happens often without a huge drop. The previous few days I had gained a bit, which I assumed was bloating or something since I was on point with diet and…

1/2 cup dry oats, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (regular or greek), 1tbs peanut butter or pumpkin. Mix it up, fridge overnight, amazing in the morning (especially since it's already too hot to want to cook in Texas). It's 25-310, depending on the peanut butter.

A Turkey Tom from Jimmy John's: whole grain bread, turkey, tomato, lettuce, cucumber and mustard at about 440calories. I was on my way to Subway, but then I started craving Jimmy John's bread.

Put some peanut butter on those rice cakes! Also I'll mix 1/2 cup dry oatmeal and 1/2 cut vanilla greek yogurt, put it in the fridge over night and it is so yummy and filling in the morning. I wasn't a breakfast eater before either, but now that I know my body needs to fuel I eat something, even if it isn't a large amount.…

My grocery store's natural and bulk food section has a peanut butter grinder thing. I just push the button and get peanut butter that is nothing but nuts. They have plain, honey roasted, and almond. It is still high in calories, but it is good fats and protein and an excellent snack when I need something a little more…

I'm glad I'm not the only one. People are always posting about going from a 16 to a 6 or whatever. My dream is a 10, but I haven't been under a 12 even at my lowest weight. I haven't bought new pants even though my 14 and 16 are lose in the waist (but fit my hips comfortably) because I keep hoping for a 10. Maybe if I…

I am right there with you. I lost 3 inches in my bust, and the girls don't have much to start with, but only 1/2 inch in my hips. I've lost 15 pounds but am only down 1 pants size. On the bright side, people always think I am smaller than I am because my top half isn't overweight. I just wish I could find pants that didn't…

I weigh in daily and my weight sometimes varies wildly. I have "gained" as much as 4 pounds overnight. In the past 10 days I have a 5 pound range, but from 30 days ago to today I am down 4 pounds, so averaging 1/week, which is what my goals are set for. There are tons of factors that can effect our weight - water, sodium,…

That's fantastic! And a better time than I usually get, and I've done 5 or 6 5ks. Keep up the amazing work!

I have the same problem. I'll often have 1000 calories left after lunch, and it would be hard to eat that many calories worth of nutritious foods in one meal. A normal dinner for me is chicken or fish, rice and vegetables and that's mayb 500 calories. Some days I do end up with 300 or more calories left at bed time. I do…

I don't trust myself to make a low calorie choice anywhere except Subway. Right now they are doing a 2 for 1 promo before 9am. I got a breakfast sub with egg whites and ham and got a turkey for lunch. The egg white omelet on wheat with ham and no cheese is 310 calories, turkey on wheat is 280.

It doesn't burn a ton of calories, but it definitely tones us your core, which will make you more effective with other exercises as well. I have 10 Minute Solution. It's a good little workout when I don't have much time.

A good friend of mine has the same issue. She has been married for several years, and this was an issue before they were married. Her husband is a good man and loves her, but this is putting a serious strain on their marriage. She doesn't let him go anywhere without her, they don't have friends as a couple, even his job…

I recently started weighing in almost everyday, and I actually really like it. My weight has fluctuated as much as 4 pounds overnight, and I think if I was weighing only 1/week there's a chance I would only see the higher numbers. Seeing the lower numbers, even if they are gone the next day, is really encouraging to me.…

There are some mornings when I literally don't have 5-10 minutes to pack a lunch. I get up early, do my workout, etc. but sometimes it just doesn't happen and I remember that I still need lunch as I'm running out the door. I have a few frozen meals on hand for those times. It's better than most of the options I have…

I didn't have that problem at 1200/day, but at 1400/day I do (though usually only on my workout days). Just that additional 200/day makes me think a lot harder about what to eat. I also realize the importance of eating back as much of my exercise calories as I can so I don't slow my metabolism. The trouble is finding…

Don't give up! Last summer I was working out at Curves 5-6 days/week plus an hour of cardio (running, elliptical or bike) everyday, plus tracking my calories faithfully. I lost nothing, actually gained a pound or two) in about 6 weeks of doing this. I was so frustrated I actually did stop trying. I traveled all summer then…

I peel, boil, then mash with plain greek yogurt for extra protein and smoother texture. Sometimes I add a little brown sugar and/or cinnamon. This fills me up, and if I have a huge potato I can get two meals out of it.

When I stay in the 150s three days in a row (I'm a daily weigher) so I know its accurate, I'll buy new clothes that are nicer than the what I have now (you know, the same shirt from Target in 6 different colors). I need them anyway. I'll also get a nice professional outfit for a conference I'm presenting at in a few weeks…

I love apples too, but can't start the tart green ones or mealy red delicious. My faves are the same as yours, Fuji, gala, and honeycrisp. I get whichever of those is cheapest that week. I also like Pink Lady and Braeburn, since they are sweet without being tart and are sometimes cheaper.

I would be really cautious about caffeine pills. It's easier to just pop another pill than drink another soda, and that could lead to more serious health issues. http://www.livestrong.com/article/148848-information-on-caffeine-pills/ I was practically weaned on Diet Coke/Diet Pepsi, and I still have a can about 1/day. I…

I have a cheap Taylor brand digital scale that gives weight, body fat % and water %. I've had it for a few weeks and I like it. It was just $30 at Target.
