iPhone Armband suggestions
I want an armband so I can run with my iPhone 3Gs (I know, I'm behind on the update wagon). What brands do you recommend or not recommend? I mostly want it to use while running outside.

Luby's Breakfast
My MIL wants to go to Luby's for Mother's Day breakfast. It's a cafeteria type restaurant like Furr's. They don't have their nutrition for breakfast items on their website, nor the menu. Has anyone had breakfast there, and if so can you tell me some things they have so I can try to plan ahead. I really hope there's at…

PlexusSlim Deterrence?
Just to be clear, I am NOT doing or considering doing this PlexusSlim thing. I don't really know much about it. My question is, what do you think I should say to my friend who wants to do it, if anything? She is obese and I think she's tried a lot of different things. She's probably someone who thinks they don't have time…

Any grad students out there?
I'm writing my dissertation and working as a graduate assistant. I'd love to add some friends who are balancing hours writing at a desk with an active lifestyle and nutritious eating. All through school I've gained and lost, gained and lost, and as I head into the last year of writing I want to come through with my health…

96 Hours
My husband learned in his nutrition unit at police academy that you start losing fitness after 96 hours. I hadn't heard that before, but it sounds reasonable. And it means as long as you workout out at least every 4 days you can still make progress. Does anyone else know more about this? How long after a good workout does…

Fat Hate? Interesting article.
A friend of mine in a PhD program linked this blog post by an "fat acceptance activist." She uses the term fat intending to reclaim the word at a statement of fact or solidarity (sort of like black people using the N word I think), not as an insult. The post is called "21 Things to Stop Saying Unless you Hate Fat People."…

Is this a new craze I just don't know about?
There's this young guy at my gym (maybe early 20s) who dances on the stair climber. He's spinning around, running sideways, jumping, going backwards, etc. He's listening to headphones and has an iPad, so maybe he's playing DDR or something? It's really distracting to see out of my periphery, and very loud landing on the…

Big Burns
I am always looking for new ideas for exercise to keep it interesting, but I also want to focus on cardio with a high calorie burn for a while until I get a little closer to my goal and start doing more weights. I use a HRM, so I have a good idea of what I burn on elliptical, running, walking incline, and recumbent bike.…

Heart Rate Question
I'm 30 years old, so according to the Mayo Clinic my target heart rate is 133-162, and over that is 'above my zone.' During my workout today my heart rate was around 175 while running, according to my Polar FT4. I felt fine- working hard for sure, but I wouldn't have thought my heart rate was at around 90% of max. So my…

First Half Marathon
I've been wanting to train for a half marathon for a long time, and I think I'm finally ready to committ. Has anyone done the Dallas Rock 'n Roll half or the Austin Livestrong Half? Any recommendations for a first timer? I've done lots of 5ks, including big crowded ones, so I'm more interested in the type of course and the…

Chronic Pain/Prostatitis
My fiance has prostatitis, also known as chronic pelvic pain syndrome. It is debilitating at times. I am wondering if there are any men on here with similar issues, or women in relationships/family with them. Have you found any connection between symptom management and exercise or diet? We've figured out a few types of…

Ideal Body Water %?
Is there an ideal body water %? My scale measures this, and I know it is useful to compare before and after exercise to make sure I rehydrate sufficiently. But is there a percentage I should be aiming for or that indicates a healthy or unhealthy hydration level? I'm usually 51-52% first thing in the morning.

What I did while babysitting
I babysit a lot and some days it prevents me from getting in a good workout. Today I tried to stay active while watching a little boy, and here's what I did. Maybe it'll give some other babysitters or SAHMs a few ideas. I did 20 of most of these (on each side/leg/arm), and it was all spread out over about 5 hours, so I…

home scales
I need a scale at home, just a cheap one that doesn't take up much space. Does anyone have a specific scale they love or hate?

running friends
I've been on for a while, but I would love to add some friends who run. I try to run 3ish miles 3-4 times a week and I do 5ks whenever there is one close by. I'm not fast, but I want to keep it up consistently add distance. It would be great to have some friends who also enjoy running. Add me :)

I'm a grad student at Baylor. I'd love some friends to run the Bear trail or Cameron Park with. Friend me!

FitBit vs. Striiv
I'm really intrigued by both of these devices. I've read a lot on MFP and other sites about the FitBit and people seem to really love it. Do any of you MFPers use the Striiv? How have you liked it? Is it durable? Does it really work in your pocket or keychain? Any kind of information or review will be helpful. I like that…
