A scare for me today too, went to log my hot chocolate from a vending machine thinking there'd be nothing much apart from chemicals only to find it was 90 calories! Only a really small cup too. No wonder I'm the size I am!

If it helps, they've started putting how many calories in each item on the menu boards. McDonalds do it now too, haven't eaten one since they started displaying the info, frightened me half to death lol

Being a bit slow here (just for a change lol), thermogenesis sounds like it refers to thermodynamics and therefore the way calories are burned. So this chart shows that caffeine does speed up the metabolism?

Champix, (chantix in the states) was the worst thing I have ever tried. Talk about spaced out, it felt like I was a character in a video game for most of the time, really didn't feel like I was in the real world! Glad it worked for some though, I'm still trying :(

Just a general observation, and three's bound to be someone to correct it, but if caffeine contributes to slower weight loss, why do all the so called "wonder diet pills" on the market seem to have caffeine as their main ingredient?

If you can handle a trip to the supermarket most days, go there late on in the evening when they reduce everything that is about to go out of date. It'll be fine for a day or two

How long this been going on for? If its more than about 12 hours I'd say go, but I'm not medically qualified in any way!

My fat on some days is higher than it should be, but I don't overly worry as it comes from fish and/or nuts. These both provide "good" fat, that the body needs., not the saturated variety!

If you fancy a couple of potatoes once a week, I'd say go for it. This needs to be a life change, not a diet, and I certainly can't imagine NEVER eating any potatoes again! Good luck :-)

Baby carrots. I know there seems to be some dispute as to whether or not you should eat too many carrots, but I find a bag of the baby carrots great for a mid morning snack. Feel stuffed afterwards, might be something to do with the high water content. But at least they only have 26cal per 100g :-)
