  • Why would you want to do this to yourself? I am all for pushing the boundaries, but this does not sound fun at all
  • I doubt 8lb in 1 month is real weight, you would have had to have eaten and drunk like a daemon. Welcome back, put it all behind you and re-focus
  • I misread this post title at first. Why would anybody want a cockroach recipe......
  • I repeated week 3, and I redid part of a later week. Repeat if you need to. No reason to stress about it. I know somebody who ran each week twice. First on the treadmill and then out on the road. Another friend had a really bad dose of flu and dropped back from week 6 back to week 4 as she recovered. You will get there.…
  • In the office at work they do a 10 week weight loss challenge. Last Jan I was bullied to take part. It is seen as a laugh in the office, an excuse to say no to the cakes and biscuits post Christmas. I stood on the scales that measured in just lbs, being in the UK I work in stones and pounds. So I had a number 294lb that…
  • If you can run 2.25 you only need to run another .85 and you are done. The buzz of the day will drag you round that. You can do this. A few extra training runs and you will be wondering why you ever doubted yourself. Go for it!
  • Can you walk 5km? (3.1 miles) if so then you will be able to finish a 5k. I started the c25k in september and having repeated a couple of weeks could run 30mins straight after 11 weeks, an extra week for luck and then ran my first 5km 12 weeks after starting to run. I ran my first just before Christmas sub 40mins, if I can…
  • This post might be worth a read. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 This helped me break a plateau of a couple of months. I ended up eating more and lost more. Work the numbers and see if this changes things for you.
  • It has already be said to take photos, also measure. Remember the scales are only part of the story. If you have a week or even a month where the scales do not move, even if you are doing everything right, the tape may help restore some motivation. There is no magic bullet, but there is a long and steady path to where you…
  • maintainance......... OMG can I really get to this point this year?
  • Good walk around the lake at Stourhead with the family and then a 5km run in the last of the afternoon sunshine. Great way to start the NY
  • We had the full Christmas works today with friends, ate, drank and then hit the cheese board. Logged and found that I had made good choices, yes I had Christmas Pudding, but only a small slice. Yes I had a glass or two a wine, but not a stupid amount. Good times where had and ony a few hundred over goal! Result Bring on…
  • Not commenting on the spank/non-spank but a word of warning. My then 4 year old throw a screaming paddy in a store. I thought "I can handle this" all set to lay down the law, but disaster I caught the giggles and laughed. Boy that is not the way to deal with a screaming child, the giggles took over, he screamed, I was…
  • Parkrun are every Saturday, so I will try again this weekend, if I manage to get there in time. Time to beat 33min
  • I ran my first 5k this last weekend. My key lessons Watch the weather. I usually run in the dark UK evenings, running on a Saturday morning I had way too many layers and nearly melted Normal breakfast and a drink of water prior to the run was fine for me Watch the pace at the start. I thought I was running at my usual…
  • Graduated tonight, ran 5km in about 36 mins. Shame it was cold and wet, but still managed to come in smiling! Now plan to find a parkrun locally either this weekend or next...... then 10k maybe not sure yet
  • I tend not to save up, so weekends I try and log. However I am fairly active at the weekend so end up with a largish number to eat. I eat out and with a few compromises manage without too much trouble. Skip the chips, avoid high cal puddings etc I don't think that a huge 3000+ day would be right for me. Have taken so long…
  • Somerset calling... Very wet and soggy, but still logging! Feel free to add.

  • For a laugh I have started to add the figures into my food notes.... Wonder how close it will?
  • Just after Christmas last year I was bulied into a post Christmas wieght loss challange at work, 10 weeks of avoiding cakes in the office. I weighed in, then worked out what the figure in pounds was in stones. OMG 294 equals 21st..... time to really change life.
  • More than "still lose just fine", have gone from static loss to 4lb since increasing. So I wish I had seen this post 5 weeks ago
  • Spot on, I have been stuck on a plateau for 5-6 weeks, recently have increased calorie from goal 1500 --> 1990 and eat back exercise calories to a max of 2400. Seems to have worked. I agree, having a look back over the last week or so, yes the sodium has been high, not noticed it creeping up. However slightly out as I was…
  • Swissmiss: I notice you are light on calories. Your goal; of 1000 really shows the high carbs and the consistently low protien. Not sure for the snap shot I looked at if you try to eat your exercise calories back, but with your goal set this low (too low imho) I believe you should. There is a good range of stuff and you…
  • I had terrible issues with "start tomorrow, start Monday" Then I would have a bad day, have a cake/treat, then would think "I'll refocus tomorrow": Then it was a green light to be bad until tomorrow or Monday. Ok I have slowly managed to change, now if I drop the ball and give in to tempation, I log it and make sure that I…
  • I am not a dietician, nor a personal trainer, but I am a fat 40+ year old bloke who has lost 50+ lb this year. I started and I ate my exercise calories back and used the MFP figures for 2lb a week. This worked really well for my initial lose of 294lb-->238lb I have struggled in the last couple of months. Have toned and…
  • Arh Lack of knowledge = no friends  Explains a great deal!
  • You have saved hard for your £50. Everybody will give good advise based on what they would do. Which do you WANT to do? I know you may think that you SHOULD do the gym, but which is going to make you feel better about yourself? Yes maybe there are cheaper gyms and maybe you could find a cheaper way of getting your hair…
  • No not again
  • Might have doubled up there by mistake
