@skram01- When I feel like being lazy and skipping my exercise for the day, I remind myself how good I feel afterwards. It helps to see daily exercise as something we do as care for ourselves (mind, body and soul), rather than a punishment or penance. If it's hard to find the motivation to do the workout you planned, tell…

Jan 1-rest day Jan 2-4.5 miles Jan 3-12 miles Jan 4- plyometrics class Loving the warmer weather we are getting. Unfortunately, this past weekend was hectic with non-running commitments and was also a recovery week in my training plan, so I only got out for a total of 16.5 miles. Loved running in the sunshine for a change,…

This thread is cracking me up!! A bunch of nuts up in here! Hats off to your amazing grit , @7lenny7 , @AlphaHowls and @kgirlhart (hey, it takes a lot of determination to get out there at lunchtime, right?)! As for me, this evening I will be going all @7lenny7 and braving the frozen tundra (16F) and, due to ice still on…

@Shanaber- Sorry to hear that. I think I remember that you were dealing with that now. I had a metatarsal stress fracture in 2014. Not as severe as yours it seems. I was off running and in a boot for 6 weeks. It was a long six weeks. But it healed 100%. My podiatrist did not try and talk me out of running, but I did get…

I make a pancake by mashing a very ripe banana and combining with an egg and a scoop of protein powder. Sounds strange but it's really delicious. I eat it with a Tbsp of peanut butter and a dab of raspberry preserves.

My neighbor has a Schnorkie, Schnauzer+Yorkie. His ears are as tall as his body. He's really stinking cute! Another neighbor has a GoldenDoodle named Midas that is adorable too. But my mutt (Foxhound+Boxer, we think?) is my favorite mixed breed!

You are right. Some level of balance is required. Finding that balance can be very tricky. I agree with @DX2JX2 that you do not have to stick to the plan as written. You need to push yourself to make gains, but only you truly know where that edge is. The key is figuring out where your limitations are before it's too late.…

That's interesting. I have a hard time holding even my 5k pace on the treadmill. I think it compromises my form quite a bit and those fast paces are brutal for me. I can never hit the interval paces on my treadmill that I hit on a track (unless my treadmill calibration is horribly off).
-
@MegaMooseEsq - Don't be too impressed. It's not as much as it sounds. The plyo class is only half cardio. We also do lots of body weight and resistance band work, and it's only one day per week. I also have not been lifting super heavy with the strength sessions since I am on a marathon training schedule. Typically, I…

Question for the group: What is your favorite treadmill interval workout?

Exactly. If you are huffing and puffing, that indicates that you are likely training above your lactate threshold. By definition, you will not be able to hold this pace for an hour. Lactic acid will build up in your muscles and you will hit a wall. This is not the type of training best suited for endurance racing. Running…

I love this! Sometimes those are the truest kinds of self care we can give. I am feeling very good today. I had a good weekend. I had positive runs on both Saturday and Sunday. I cooked lots of meals and spent a lot of good time with my husband. I am feeling very positive about how I have been managing my training…

@amymoreorless - Congrats on finishing your second marathon. Running a long race like that in even just a little bit a heat is grueling. Incredible job! @7lenny7 - I <3 Kody! @katharmonic - OMG, Stella looks adorable in her gear! My Stella will "tolerate" a coat, although she runs away when I get it and only finally comes over reluctantly to get it on because she knows it will come with a walk. Pretty sure she would never go for the boots. Your Stella looks like she is ready to go! I had to get…

@MobyCarp - Nice going. I can't even imagine what your award collection looks like!

Stella pretty much requires a walk every day. I put a coat on her when the temp is below 20. She doesn't care for it, but she will agree to it for the sake of the walk. I use Musher's wax on her paws. It's kind of a pain to get it on, but if I don't take the time to do it, she gets ice in her paws and hops on three legs.…

Been absent for a while but trying to catch up a bit. Very quickly perused the thread, enough to send a big shout out to @Scott6255 for finishing your first marathon! Awesome job and a great time too! Also best of luck to @amymoreorless on your marathon! I have been keeping up with my planned running schedule, but I have…

Wow, my gut reaction is to call this statement just plain ignorant, but since you posted this in the debate section, I will accept it as your opinion and respectfully disagree. I have been very underweight as a result of illness (Crohn's Disease) and gaining weight was not "much easier", it was downright impossible. Being…

I made an adaptation of this fish Florentine from the Skinnytaste website last night https://www.skinnytaste.com/fish-florentine/ I used cod loins, I substituted grape tomatoes for the red pepper and I used a little more half and half to thin the sauce out. It was really yummy. It reminded me of a dish I had at Bonefish…

Beautiful (and probably yummy!)

@crazyravr - Is your beet and horseradish pure just beets and horseradish or do you add vinegar or something else? Do you eat it warm or cold? I love both beets and horseradish but have never tried that combo. You seem to eat it a lot, so it must be good!

I agree with the suggestion of resistance bands. You can find plenty of youtube videos to make it easy to do a workout in your hotel room. When I travel, I also like to explore the local area on foot. I usually ask the front desk for recommendations on safe and interesting places to run. It's almost always better than…
