  • If you like the weight you are, then recomp is probably the route for you. It may not be years for results, and yes it does depend on your goal, but you certainly should be looking further ahead than 2-3 months for results. I'm not an expert on recomp, but maybe this thread will help you:…
  • If you want to lower body fat % there are pretty much 2 ways to do it. 1) Eat at a deficit, lose weight, will be mostly fat, and a little muscle. This happens in a few months depending on how much weight you want to lose. Then you can do bulk/cut cycles. 2) body recomp - where as I understand it, you eat at maintenance,…
  • That last 10 pounds may have been part water weight, which you may have since gained a little back. So you lost fat weight, but gained back some water weight, so it looks like you lost nothing. Just keep being consistent in what you are doing, and look longer term than what the scale says in 1 day or 1 week.
  • Believe it or not, push ups have done AMAZING things for my arms. I used to hate mine, now I am sad it's time for long sleeves.
  • That is ridiculously impressive - way to go!!
  • In my case, the reason I gained it all back was because as other people stated I didn't learn anything about sustainability or looking long term. My entire perspective was wonky, which is a common theme in people who are on the 'fast track' to losing weight. It's not nec. an if-then relationship, but there is a really…
  • When I needed to lose 15 or so pounds, I did it as fast as I possibly could 1.5 - 2 pounds per week. I hated being hungry all the time and wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. And I gained it all back within a year. Rinse and repeat half a dozen times or more. The latest time, I went from 155 to 135, then up to…
  • Congratulations - well done!
  • You might also try second hand stores like Value Village or Goodwill, or maybe even craig's list. It seems like larger workout clothes would quickly get to be the wrong size and donated. Awesome of you to get moving!
  • I can't even begin to guess about the pictures. Again, these are things you should be talking with him about. His reasons could be completely innocent, completely ignorant, or flat out rude. Presumably you love the guy, and he has good qualities or you wouldn't be together. Give him the benefit of the doubt, and a chance…
  • When you say "tried to eat healthy" what does that mean? It doesn't have to be all kale and tofu if that's not your thing. What kind of foods do you like?
  • I don't think this approach is great in a marriage. I think you should find a time away from the kiddos and really talk to him about this. Explain to him about your past, about your insecurities, and that you know he means well, but his comments about your weight hurt your feelings and tempt you toward unhealthy thought…
  • Personally I would just deal with it. About the only thing I can think of is perhaps you can ask your instructor to speak to the woman? She might hear it better from the teacher than a ticked off group member.
  • Definately mysterious. You may want to check with your physician, and see if there is anything health-wise that may explain the difference.
  • It's hard to say what exactly happened over the past 6 weeks. Maybe you lost and gained, maybe that's normal fluctuation for you, and you never noticed before. Here's my suggestion moving forward. Use a calculator such as this one to find an accurate number for your TDEE http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ Eat at a small…
  • Sorry, I seem to be misunderstanding. I was under the impression you had been losing steadily for some time and then hit maintenance. Let me see if I have it right now. You are 155 cm or about 5'1 You started at 49 kg (108 pounds) . Ate at a deficit for 4 weeks, and reached your goal weight of 48 kg (105.5 pounds) ?…
  • Haha - good catch!
  • In general terms, whenever you eat at a deficit over time, your body will deplete glycogen stores from your muscles. You will pee extra, and lose weight when your body lets go of extra water. You will also lose weight from the calorie deficit. When you stop eating at a deficit, your body restores that glycogen, and you pee…
  • Stay at Home Mom here - 7:00 am up with the kids. 7:00 - 9:00 they eat and play while I shower/do chores. 9:00 - 11:00 I homeschool so we do lessons then break for lunch.afternoon T/Th we do martial arts together, and I do insanity after martial arts afternoon M/W/Fr we do lessons from 12:30 - 3:00 with a snack break…
  • Here's my 2 cents. You need to eat more. Many days you are working out hard - burning 800-1100 calories. And you are often under the calorie goal MFP has set up for you by hundreds of calories. Which means you are netting less that 800 calories most days. Without exercise, MFP has you set to only eat 1200 calories. This…
  • Trust the numbers. If they were working for you to lose, then add back your deficit, and they will work for you to maintain. Your head knows the truth, you didn't over eat by 14000 calories the past 2 weeks. That means the weight can only be water retention, it may or may not go back down. But what is a number on a scale?…
  • Welcome! I think the most helpful thing for beginners here is to head over to the 'getting started' thread and read these posts: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10260517/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest Invaluable information there.
  • Siluridae is right. If I am reading you right, you ate 10,000 calories between Fri, Sat, and Sunday. I am going to guess you maintain at around 1700 calories, this may be slightly off, but close enough for you to see how this works. To not gain weight you would eat 1700 on each day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a total…
  • The only possible way those 4 pounds were fat, is if she lost the 4 pounds in the previous few weeks, but was retaining water which hid the weight loss. This week, whoosh went the 4 pounds of water she was retaining. But the actual fat pounds were lost in the previous week(s). Which is why my earlier comment said anything…
  • How is everyone with leftovers? As a family can you cook meals for the week on the weekend? Each person can help make their favorite and then you only have to dish and reheat during the week? That way everyone gets to eat what they like, and you don't have to cook 5 different meals every night?
  • Why don't you ask someone who works at the gym to give you a tour? When you find something that seems interesting to you, ask them to show you how that machine works, or if they have any classes that you can participate in.
  • Probably 1 of 2 things: 1) You are retaining a little water (this is normal and happens for tons of reasons) and the scale will show the loss next week when the water goes down. 2) Some of the weight you lost already was water weight not fat, and your body has replaced some of that water so you won't see a loss this week…

  • When I log regularly, I have no fear of gaining weight. I know when I go over and by how much. There are no surprises.
  • Sometimes you gain 2-3 pounds of permanent water weight when you stop eating at a deficit. Your body is replacing some of the glycogen stores it dumped when you first started. This is normal and shouldn't affect your size. Don't mistake that gain as coming from eating more.
  • I tend to cook most of the same things. But once I have entered a recipe into MFP, I never have to do it again. Just weigh and log my serving. The way it was explained above is a great way to do it. I have a similar method. Let's say the meatloaf I made weighed 20 ounces, and when I created the recipe I said it yields 6…
