  • Well, I started at 300lbs and a UK size 24, I don't know what that is in US sizes. Now, I'm down 39lbs and I can fit comfortably in an 18 or I can get into a 16 although that's a little on the tight side. So I'm down 3-4 sizes. As for what's working, just cutting down portion sizes and keeping track of calories has helped…
  • I normally fill mine in as I go as I don't know where I'll be for dinner. I work all over the place. Sometimes I'll make myself some dinner and if so I'll log it the night before, but that doesn't happen very often. Of course whilst I've been eating within my calories, the past couple of weeks I haven't done much exercise…
  • I wouldn't worry since it's only been 4 days that your weight has stayed the same. As to the carbs, what we all should be doing here is learning how to eat better in a way that's sustainable for life. It's not like your low-carb diet where you came off it at the end, it's a lifestyle change to help us all stay fitter and…
  • Since your clothes are getting looser, you're probably losing fat, but gaining muscle. A pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat, so don't be discouraged if the scales aren't moving as long as your measurements are getting smaller.
  • I read both Womens fitness and Zest and I really enjoy both of them.
  • That's great! Getting your kids involved and educated on good nutrition means that they may not have as many problems as we have. I live to think that if when I was at school someone, be it my parents or teachers had taught me, I wouldn't have gotten to 300lbs and have to now take the slow journey of getting it off again.
  • If you're still losing inches then it's likely that you're gaining muscle.
  • A bikini. I'm not sure I'll ever actually have the confidence to wear one, but it would be nice to have the option.
  • I've got a Polar FT4 as well and I have no problems at all with the chest strap. It doesn't take long after putting it on for me to forget it's even there. It doesn't have to be very tight, just enough so that it's not going to move around whilst you're exercising.
  • You should log all exercise as you're burning calories when you do it.
  • I have a dress hanging on the inside of my bedroom door that I know I can't fit into yet.

  • Tennis on Wii sports is good, but what I've found I love is My Fitness Coach Dance Workout. Specifically the cardio combat section.
  • My workouts always start with I gotta feeling by the Black eyed peas as I use the workout mix 2011 disc 1 I've tried with others, but for some reason that's the only track that makes me feel like it's a workout.
  • The only way to be completely sure is to become a label reader.
  • I write short erotica, it's not something I can really post pictures of, but for anyone interested, who's legally old enough wherever they are, some of my stories can be found at http://robynfabre.livejournal.com
  • You don't need one, but a HRM with a chest strap is more accurate than the one on most gym equipment or the calories burned value on MFP. I got one because there are workouts I do that aren't included on MFP and I wanted to make sure I was being accurate with my exercise. I use a Polar FT4 which comes with a chest strap.
  • I don't like the gym either often I exercise using my Wii. DDR counts as exercise as it's raising your heart rate. To get into exercise, you have to find something that's fun for you to do.
  • Honestly, I find it to be the other way round. My friends are women as well and the only men I socialize with are their friends.
  • Yes, I can believe it. We're still living in a world that doesn't know enough about nutrition to know how many calories (and everything else) each piece of food was and how much you need. I know I didn't untill I started here. I reckon it should be taught in schools.
  • First off, only a few months ago, I would have wished I had that problem, no-one ever offered food at work. Secondly, just either laugh along with them, or ignore them, knowing, smugly, that you're improving your health whilst they're taking in all that processed sugar at once.
  • Personally, I haven't had a drink in years, I just don't really like the taste of it. However, to answer your question, it's okay to drink alcohol if you want to. And with vodka, you can always make every other drink the mixer on it's own. Unless you're going for straight shots that is but that could easily lead to you…
  • When I've only a few hundred calories left after exercise, I tend to go with baked beans on toast, the exact calories will vary of course but it should be just under 500. Of course if I knew how to cook something better, I might do that instead.
  • First of all, it's okay to go over your daily calories every now and then. As to your actual question, all I can suggest is eat smaller portions If you have healthy snacks between meals, I've heard we should all really eat every two to three hours to keep our blood sugar level, you should feel less hungry and therefore eat…
  • Welcome to the MFP site.
  • I'm also using an FT4, but the one you linked looked like it should be okay.
  • I use the Polar FT4, it cost me around £70, but I've seen it cheaper since I bought it. The basic rule of thumb is that a HRM with a chest strap will be more accurate than one without. AFter that, it all depends what functions you want on it.
  • Welcome to MFP. I'm not personally looking to add weight, but I can understand that some people do need to. Everyone's different after all and that applies to body chemistry and metaboloism. If you're only 17, you have plenty of time to bulk up if your goal is for when you finish university so I think you'll make it. As to…
  • Welcome to MFP. IT doesn't matter that you're young, in fact, you might find it a bit easier to lose weight and change your lifestyle so that it stays off. I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, I know how that feels. I was 19 when my mother died. It sound like you have the right attitude going into this journey to get it…
  • I don't eat shreddies personally, but I know that 30g of special K (which is one serving according to the box) isn't very much so I can imagine that it's possible to fit 160g in a bowl, as long as it's a large bowl. What I do is measure out the cereal before I put it in the bowl.
  • Welcome to MFP. I can sort of understand what you mean. Whilst I wasn't really into sports and I wasn't a dancer, I used to be fairly active as a kid, but now, I get winded walking up multiple flights of stairs. And I have to do that for work.
