I'm actually holding at week 6 right now. After I completed week 6 day 2 my knees were in really bad shape and so since then I've kind of been doing intervals similar to those in weeks 5 and 6. I tried a week 6 day 2 last week and only made it through 8 minutes of the second ten minute run. But that's ok.... I'll get there…

I've had four babies, but since the last three I've been heavy. My heavy self looks a little more hourglass-y than my skinny self did before I had kids, so I guess here's hoping that my hips will be a touch wider (giving me the illusion of a waist HA!) after the weight comes off. Its all still overwhelmed by my big belly.…

Sure sweetie! MFP does all the work for you once you get you settings set up. Many people think that the default macro settings for protein are too low since we need protein to rebuild our muscles after exercising. To change them, go to the food tab, then choose goals ---> change goals ---> custom. Once in that menu, you…

Since you are not covering the full 5k in your 30 minutes I'd stick with the gradual increases of the final weeks of the program so that you are gradually building on your foundation. I've read that is important to staying healthy and injury free. I'm no expert though.... that's just my opinion.

I'm aiming for a 40/30/30 ratio, though I rarely hit my targets exactly. I track sodium as well. I eat a lot of smoked salmon. 100 grams has 182 calories, no carbs, 8 units of fat, 25 units of protein and 56 units of sodium. No fiber there though. I usually add a little salt to mine as well. Chicken breast puts up similar…

My kids are doing the same. I think its natural for them to want to do what their parents do.... my 4 yo weighs her food on occasion, my 6 yo is constantly reading nutrition labels and my 8 yo runs on the treadmill and is looking forward to running outside with me when I get back to outside. I've fielded questions about…

This is an issue for me as well. I can't stop myself once I get started on a loaf of fresh bread, an easter basket, a plate of pasta. I adore sugars and starches and can't cut them out completely, but definitely find that I'm more successful when I choose those things with a lot of care and plan for them. I wish I could…

Gah! Sorry I posted a a site that LIES! Boo hiss! Apples are apples and that's just the way of it, yes?

Oooo, look at these new introductions! Its fantastic to see so many apples joining the group and sharing their stories. Stephanie, I keep reading about great results with JM 30 day shred but I have yet to make it through even the first workout. I am soooo out of shape. I really need to try it again because I love the…

I don't know how to get the link to be clickable either. Thanks so much for sharing these! They are definitely inspiring. You are so right, apple doesn't have to mean flabby and round. Great to see fit apple types!

Mine are a few weeks old also, but I don't mind sharing. I'm still pretty heavy, so my waist measurement is horrendous! I'm 5'6" weight: 194 bust: 45" waist (the skinniest part): 41" around my belly button: 46" (nice that its actually bigger than my hip measurement, Sigh.) hips: 45.5"

Your progress pictures look great Kelly. Thanks for sharing with us. I can definitely see your hard work paying off and a huge difference between your almost befores and your current afters. I even see a bit of waist definition there. Lucky you!

*waves* Hi Brenda! Welcome! @Amy, I glossed over how truly horrific it was during the worst of my husband's hard drinking time and I want you to know that I relate to what you are going through now and how difficult it is. If you ever need someone to vent to, a shoulder to lean on, or just want to talk with someone who has…

(fluttering my eyelashes at Nikki) I have girl crushes on all of you already!

Thanks for the leads everyone! When I outgrow the ones I have now I will definitely check out some of the brands that you have found and love. Ceci, I'll bet your legs are absolutely amazing! Legs are one of our best features to begin with and yours must be gorgeously long on top of that. No jeans for you -- short skirts.…

@Kelly ****like**** I'm glad we're in it together, too!

Yay Apples! I can tell already that you are an amazing group of women and I am so excited to get to know you. Thank you for starting such an awesome introduction thread Kelly. I posted a little bit about myself earlier, but since everyone is sharing their stories here I want add mine as well. Let's see..... I'm Becca and…

***grin*** thanks girlies. I'm thrilled to see so many wonderful apples here!

I'm so happy to find other apples! I too always feel alone. I hope I'm not overstepping... I started a group for apple shapes. I invited lots of you already, but with four pages in the thread didn't get to everyone. You are all welcome, us apples need to hang together. Here's the group:…

Hmmmm, I'm not running very far or very fast yet, so I don't think my body requires any special attention for recovery at this point. I'm covering just over two miles per run and burning less than 200 calories. I drink extra water and otherwise pretty much eat normally. I'm sure that may change as my runs become longer and…

LOL, I noticed that about the usernames as well. I have a boy (10) and three girls (8), (6) and (4). I've decided to scale back and give my knees a chance to catch up and strengthen before moving on to week 7. I'm going to give weeks 5 and 6 a couple of repeats on the treadmill so that the pounding they take is a little…

That is absolutely fantastic! you must be feeling so strong and powerful now. Huge congrats and here's to many more! How was it?

Congrats on starting the program. It is really fantastic and I can't believe the progress I've made the last few weeks.... I hope that your experience is the same. I unfortunately can't answer either of your questions. Inside and out I'm wearing a HRM and I'm using that for calories burned. Maybe if you post these…

I don't count steps when I'm breathing, I think I do it naturally because I was a competitive swimmer in high school and swimming forces you to breathe regularly. I'm pretty sure I breathe in the same rhythm I use when swimming, so probably in on every 4th or 6th step? I'll try to pay attention to it on my next run. I'm…

Hi Trisha! Great to see you in the group. We have a lot in common -- I'm a mama to 4, I'm 5'6" and 195 lbs. I run like a turtle (I’m pacing around 12 minute miles now) and I’m just finishing week 6 of C25K. I will be ecstatic the first time I manage to complete an entire 5K running, though I’m a little concerned right now…

Well done week 6'ers! Week 6 day 3 for me tomorrow.
-
Thanks for the opinions. I'll see what kind of feedback it gives me on my next run for sure. I definitely considered that I may be becoming more efficient and that could explain a smaller burn as well. My average hear rate has been around 148 and on this run it was 140.
-
I'm probably not much help.... I usually wear granny undies when I'm running. (**blush**) They stay put, but they are not the least bit attractive.
-
Sounds yummy! I'd throw it all together, add a little red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, olive oil, a touch of cumin, maybe some oregano, a dash of lime juice and some pepper. If you have any feta cheese that would be a delicious addition, too. Enjoy!

You can do it! I think you'll surprise yourself. Be sure to come back and let us know how it went for you.
