Timely post. I've had a tough week. I've been non-stop hungry, pms cranky, not sleeping, just having an off week. I gained a pound. But here's the thing..... this IS a lifestyle change for me. So the fact that I had a few rough days or even a bad week isn't enough of a setback to derail me. I will keep moving forward…

Hi! I'm Becca. I'm 41 but will be 42 by the time we finish this challenge. I'm a mama to 4 and a part time attorney -- part time - so that I can be home when my kids are home. Their ages range from 6 - 12 and we feel its important that their mama is around. So let's see.... I weighed 147 when I got married, then gained…

Love seeing your photos. What a difference your work has made, not just in your appearance, but to your overall happiness with life. I'm happy for you! And I love your shoes. :)

This! Makes me happy to know that either way we get to be awesome, not like the choose your own adventures which seem to end in horrible deaths 90% of the time.....

I'm sorry to read about your dad. I agree with the others that under the circumstances I would check with a doctor for advice about an extreme plan that is as safe as possible. I wish you and your father all the best.

Wow! You are amazing, your hard work really shows. Thanks for sharing, so inspirational!

It helps a great deal! I can feel the shift, but can't for the life of me figure out how to keep it from happening. I think the shoes may very well be part of it, I never thought of that. My toes aren't on the ground at all in these shoes -- they feel like they are, but they aren't. Flat feet would definitely make it…

Can I get some eyes on my squat form please? I'm embarrassed to post, but I need help. I'm a newbie just a few weeks in and previously I was having trouble with depth. I think I've sorted that out now, but the bar isn't staying in a vertical path and I'm shifting the weight forward and back a bit.... I'm dipping my…

Hi there! Welcome! I just finished my 3rd week and I'm loving Stronglifts so far. Sending you a request. :)

Yes! I've seen quite a few people have success even when older. I'm down 16 pounds since March 10th. I'm 41 and while I don't call myself a success story yet, I'm on my way. ITs taking me longer than some, but I'm making steady progress and I'm perfectly fine with that. Not that I wouldn't be happier with faster progress,…

I'v had pretty crummy knees since I was 17 and athletic. I was worried about my knees with squatting and they crack and pop like crazy, but they don't hurt. If yours hurt and they are swelling I'd definitely seek some qualified advice.... You don't want to risk your knees, for sure.

Hi! I'm Becca. I'm 41 since December. I got back to MFP in March with major motivation -- this time I'm in for life. So I log in daily, track everything I eat and drink water like its my job. I also strive for 10,000 steps a day and recently started weightlifting 3 times a week. I slack a bit on everything over the…

Love to see how awesome everyone is doing. I fear I may never manage a pullup, so that will have to go down as one of my in your dreams goals for now. @dennie - hooray for stronger running! That's awesome! @perseverance - I'm lazy about logging it under strength because I'm tracking the weight in the SL app and I'm too…

I've seen this question before and the answers posted are always a resounding yes, start lifting yesterday. I've also seen posts where people who lost weight then started lifting regret that they've not begun lifting much earlier. The idea is that the sooner you begin, the more muscle mass you can preserve. Otherwise our…

I'm losing about 5 pounds a month at 1630 calories a day averaged. Hungry days and weekends I tend to eat more, other days I eat less and it all averages out to 1630. 1630 is my goal set by MFP to lose 1 pound a week, but I only lose 1 pound a week if I don't eat back my fitbit calorie adjustments. So really I'm doing more…

Wah! My cute smileys don't look at all like cute smileys. Now I'll have to google that, too.

@wolfsbane: You made me spit out my water! Pretty sure admiring myself in the mirror is not going on the list of possible time filling activities. laugh @katro and sbarella: I adore my fitbit. Care for another friend? https://www.fitbit.com/user/29DFBC Don't make me stalk you. :P @kroc: I don't even know what hitting…

Hmmmm...... well, can you just let it go? Stop worrying about what she thinks or says and stop comparing yourself to her. You are you, she is she.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the other losses I read about in this thread. I too lost my daddy not so long ago, he passed in October ten days after his second stroke and he was also young, 63. I lost weight while he was sick and then piled it back on. It took me about six months to get to where things are kind of…

Oh my, the twerking cat pretty much made my day. Love! @Liza -- so jealous of the hike alone. I have this crazed idea that I should spend mother's day with my children and its rarely calm or relaxing that way. @katro -- you enabler you. Those fractionals are now sitting in my cart just waiting for me to push the buy…

This sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing your experiment with us.

**giggle** Might have to get those incrementals soon myself....

Reading with interest though I don't have anything to offer as I am too new to SLs. I'm pretty tired too, but for now I'm pretty sure its do to starting lifting as a new activity. I'm hoping that the tiredness will go away after my body gets used to it. Please update us as to how adding the calories works out for you.

D'oh!!! Why didn't I think of that?! Awesome, thank you!!

Yes! I definitely want to get my posterior involved in the squats. Maybe I can find something just slightly lower to tap on. Thanks for your reply. No bumper plates at my gym, unfortunately. I've looked around for something to set the bar on but I can't find two things of equal height that are close tot he "right" height.…
