Jeans. Do you have any that fit "right"?
I'd love to find some jeans that fit. Like most of you mine are all either too tight in the waist or too big for my legs. Think parachute pants. When I buy the lower ones they fall off of my hips all day long unless I wear a really tight belt . Has anyone found a store or a brand or a style that fits the way they should?…

Apple Before and Afters
This is the thread that inspired my to start the group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/523570-any-apple-shaped-women-success-stories-out-there There are some great pics in that thread of apple women of all sizes and I found them truly inspirational. I hope that the group members will post their befores, durings…

Shoulder mobility recommendations?
I'm having trouble getting sufficient looseness in my shoulders for squatting without lots of discomfort. I do stretch my shoulders before I begin as well as between sets and after several sets of squats they feel a bit better, but I doubt its great for them to feel so stressed starting out. Are there shoulder mobility…

New lifter... and question re: squats.
Hello ladies, I'm Becca, new to lifting, new to SL and new to the group. ("hi Becca!") OK, so today was my 3rd day in and 2nd day of workout 1. I'm pretty excited about lifting and I look forward to it. I met with a trainer the first day so that I could learn proper form and I paid very close attention because I don't want…

Which exercises work for you?
Right now I'm running the C25K program to work up to running further and getting higher burns. I've also read a lot about weight lifting and definitely plan to start some as soon as my husband gets our weights back. I know we can't completely change our shape, but I really would love to have a smaller tummy and more…

Welcome!
Welcome to the Apple Orchard! Anything goes here, whatever is on your mind. But especially those things that are uniquely apple.... fighting our tummies, looking for our waists, finding clothes that fit and flatter. I hope that everyone will share what has worked for them so that it can work for others of us, too.

Did your shape change after preganancy?
On of the group members asked a really interesting question in my intro thread. I don't want it to be buried there, because I'd love to hear about the experiences that all my apple girls have had with this: Here's my experience. I've had four babies, but since the last three I've been heavy. My heavy self looks a little…

Hi, I'm Becca!
Hi everyone, I'm Becca. A 39 year old mama to four who is very decidedly apple shaped. In high school I bought men's jeans. They just fit better. Later on I started wearing jeans that either pinched my waist or were baggy on my legs. Sigh. Since I put on weight I like elastic waisted pants for their comfort... but they are…

can my HRM be right?
I've been wearing a heart rate monitor with a Garmin GPS since week 4, day 2.... today I ran week 6 day 2. It usually gives me calorie burns between 175 and 190. Today I ran a touch further than ever before with my average heart rate in the range of what it usually is and my average pace a minute faster than ever before…

Eeeek!
So now that I made this group and invited everyone to it I have a confession. I'm nervous! I've never been the admin of a group like this before. Does anyone else want to be added as an admin? I started the group so we would have a special little spot, but it isn't *my* group, it is a group for all of us and I want…

What to wear -- running when its chilly?
Running friends, what do you wear outside when its 40-50 degrees? I'm a new runner (week 6 of the C25K). I wore my usual t-shirt and yoga pants today and my arms were chilly though the rest of me was warm. I don't want to buy expensive "running clothes" at this point because I know I'll need to buy smaller ones later on.…

5' 6" ladies -- how many calories?
I'm having trouble (still!) figuring out the "right" amount of calories for loss. I know that everyone is different, but a range of what is working for others would be extremely helpful. So how about it... what is your daily caloric goal? Are you eating to lose or maintain? How active are you? Are you achieving your goals?

I'm soooo snappish. My poor kids. Help!
I've been cranky and snappish with my children all week. I'm sure that it has to do with my new eating habits, but I'm not sure WHAT about the change is causing the problem. Am I not eating enough? Am I eating the wrong things? is it just an adjustment period that will pass? Does anyone have any insight at all into this? I…

Eeek! wrong forum.... moving this post. Excuse me. Blush.

New runner... buying shoes?
I hesitate to call myself a runner at all, but I aspire to be one. I'm getting ready to start Week 3 of the C25K and I am very motivated to stick with it. I *want* to be a runner. I've been reading a lot lately and it seems that everyone who runs is recommending that new runners get fitted at a running store for good…

Anyone starting week 3?
I could use a buddy who is in the same place that I am in the program. I'm starting week 3 today or tomorrow. I'm supposed to take today as a rest day, but I'm excited to keep moving, so I might give it a go tonight. Anyone? anyone?

help with calorie goals, please? I'm new!
Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the site, reading a TON and using the trackers for the last week. I'm definitely motivated and looking forward to seeing where this journey will take me. BUT I'm having a horrible time figuring out what my daily calorie goal should be. I am sure you get questions like this all the time,…
