Thanks ladies. I tried a wider, toe out stance today and it felt quite a bit better. I also plunked a stool behind me to squat to so that I'd get a better feel of depth. For whatever reason, I'm obsessing over squat form. I want to get it right!

I was wondering this as well. Thank you!

You are all badasses. Seriously. I love it! I started SL last week and so far I adore it. I look forward to going to the gym which has never, ever happened before. I started with a trainer last Monday to teach me form and I've been watching lots and lots of form videos because I want to do it right for maximum benefits and…

You *should* feel proud... that's kind of a big deal! Well done!

That doesn't sound very sedentary to me.... unless the chores are few and far between. BUT if you are accurately logging everything that goes into your mouth and not losing, then there's something wrong with the numbers. I think a food scale is the perfect place to start because even if you measure everything its not as…

I think I love you guys. Seriously, that last quote is fantastic! Happy anniversary! I know that you'll have many more. ♥

Bwah ha ha! I kept my first user time, but this is my second go round. This is the one that will count!

Anyone is welcome to add me. I log in daily and track as accurately as I can most of the time. My diary is open to friends. I walk with a fitbit and TODAY I started stronglifts 5x5.

Minus 52 pounds looks great on your friend! Isn't it amazing what a little health scare can do for you? And now you are in so far I'm sure there is no going back! I look forward to cheering for you as you keep your momentum going.... and I LOVE that you shared your progress so far. Yay!!

Hi there! I'm a mom of four as well and my little ones are spaced about the same as yours.... when I had my fourth I had four kids ages 6 and under. They are a bit older now (12, 10, 8, 6) and it does get easier to balance everything. I think my best advice to you is to remember that you don't need to be selfless ALL the…

Woot woot! I'm also closing in on being overweight. Its a big deal, isn't it?! Now go get that next number!

Feel free to add me! I started over last month and I'm super motivated this time around, because for the first time ever its about health and longevity for me rather than vanity. I'm 41, a mom to 4, and I need to lose another 40 pounds at least. I log in every day and my diary is open to friends. I log everything, even the…

Gosh I feel old reading this thread. LOL! I'm 41 just shy of 5' 6" Apple shaped (boo!) SW: 207 CW: 189 GW: 150 (for now....) Mainly I'm trying to be healthier, lower my cholesterol, live a long life. The scale is part of that for me, but definitely not the only part. I'm eating less (at a deficit, no deprivation, trying to…

Yes. A thousand times yes, I have the exact same thing going on with my pants. And those pants that sit at the hips? ***shudders*** I'd best get off my butt, drink some water, and get some steps into my day if I ever hope to change it.

Way to go! That's an awesome victory!

I don't love my hips, but I definitely hate my waist more. My fluffy belly does awful things under shirts. Hopefully losing more of this weight will make a huge difference. I feel you pain!!
-
I'm just shy of 5'6 and weigh 192. My bottoms are a snug 16 -- I'm an apple shape and so I have a thick waist and plenty of belly (yuck!). The hips in the 16s are loose, but the waist is tight. Tops are XL.

Are any of these activities new for you? I find that when I add something new, even something relatively simple like a regular 2 mile walk, my weight loss stalls for a bit while my body adjusts to the change. Maybe that's a possibility for you. Another possibility is that you may not be eating enough, which sounds weird I…

Good for you! I think this journey requires a regular recommitment to ourselves and our future. So you had a setback. It happens. Now you are learning from that and moving forward. Hooray! I also have a desk sitting job and am a young 40 something, so I definitely appreciate the additional challenge that adds. At the same…

Sorry for the crickets when you posted, I've been away and off track, but I'm back on now. Yes, I agree that you are an apple. I think that heavier apples often have waists the same size as their hips or larger. I put on weight in my tummy first and lose it there last. :( I definitely have the body type you describe....…

Yay! Wish I looked like a volleyball player. ;) Working on it....

I've never heard of her! I'll look forward to hearing your opinion when you give them a try.

Thank you for posting this. I didn't know he was writing this until I got a note from Barnes & Noble this morning. Hmmmm, it comes between between Wizard and Glass and Wolves? My fingers are crossed that its good. Loved 11/22/63.... fantastic!

This is a tough one isn't it? I've talked with many women about it over the years because it is a topic that really interests me. I left a partnership track position at a prestigious law firm to stay home with my children when my second was nearly one year old. It was an agonizing decision to make and financially it caused…

Ugh, ignore my mispelled title. I can't figure out how to spell check in IE at work. I'm a safari girl at home.

If its super easy for you, I think you should skip to the first day of the next week and see how that goes. You seem to be starting at a higher fitness level that the average couch potato, lol. Yay you!

LOL on sounding like you are going to die. I know that feeling! I do best when I try to keep my breathing calm and rhythmic. I was a swimmer in high school and when swimming you have to breathe that way because otherwise you breathe a mouthful of water. I think that background helps me a lot even though I'm no longer a…

I loved the challenge of week 5 though it was certainly intimidating. I didn't struggle, really, really struggle, until I got to week 6, day 2. My knees started rebelling when I got to that point and I'm having a hard time getting used to the idea that there are no more walking intervals after this..... I think I may die!…

I agree! Do it! As long as its a couple months out and you stick with your training it will be great motivation.

Honestly, I stick with every other day. The things I've read combined with my age and weight lead me to believe that my muscles and bones need to off days to strengthen and my knees (which have been crummy since I was 17) appreciate the days off, too. If I could I'd probably do it every day since I feel great afterwards…
