When I started 3 weeks ago I could barely run 1 minute and that was hard for me. I truly was a couch potato and I'm carrying 50 extra pounds. Today I ran a total of 16 minutes in 3 minute and 5 minute stretches. If I can do this, you can! Just take it a bit at a time and you can get there. :)

I'm doing it! I'm following the cool runnings guideline that someone else posted and just finished my first run/walk of week 4. I've never been a runner and I'm still pretty heavy, but I'm doing it! You do need something to tell you when to walk and run. I can't find the charger cord for my ipod, so no app for me. I'm just…

I did it! I'm half dead of course, but I made it. I was right, it IS a lot more running than week 3, but doable despite that. Yay! I think it would be easier if I could find the cord for my ipod and charge it up so I can choose my own music.

eeeek! Week 4 definitely has more running than week 3. It looks a little intimidating. Off to try it in an hour or so!

Welcome to the group! It sounds like you have a great plan. :)

Welcome! I started on the treadmill. Actually, I'm still on the treadmill. I want to actually be able to run before I move outside because I'm self conscious, also I have young children and I have more flexibility to run when I want to if I do it on my treadmill at home. However, if you are comfortable with outside then…

Oooo! I want a twin, too! Age: 39 Height: 5' 6" SW: 207 CW: 198 GW: 145 (maybe? we'll see when I get closer) I'm apple shaped. I'm a mama to 4 (ages 4 - 10) work part time at a sedentary desk job. I recently started the C25k running program. Twin, are you out there?

That is so awesome! Look at you! I'm starting week 4 tomorrow and (strangely) looking forward to it. And for the record -- a couple of months ago I'm pretty sure I couldn't have run for 5 minutes straight even with rabid dogs nipping at my heels. ;)

Avocado, tomato and black bean salad with a few pecans. :) Yummy!

congrats!

You absolutely can do it. I think you'll surprise yourself! Be sure to come back and let me know how it goes. :)

Thank you!

Day 3 was so much easier than day 2. Hooray! I extended the second 3 minutes to 5 1/2 minutes and ran 1/2 mile in that stretch. I was a sweaty mess after, but so stoked that I was able to do it. Week 4, here I come! And I bumped my speed up a bit today too. Woot!

I'm a turtle and run really slow. I didn't track my mileage on week 2, but I think week 3 is about the same distance, just broken up differently. My week 3 distances are around 2.25 miles on the treadmill with a good ten minutes of extra walking at the end. If you run faster, you'll cover more distance, slower, or no…

Weekends are hard for me too, but mostly because my husband does a lot of cooking on the weekends and its harder to control exactly what I eat. In your case it sounds like you are using food to reward yourself and for comfort (recognize that from my own patterns, you are not alone with that.) Can you find another way to…

Congratulations! What a heady feeling that must be. So do tell.... did you repeat any weeks? How was the process for you? I'm nearly done with week 3 and not sure I'll ever make it to the end, though I surely intend to. It just seems such a huge leap from where I am now. I guess that's the point though, right?
-
Congrats on your restart! How did today go for you?

I recently began the C25K training as well.... I'm on week 3 right now. There actually IS a group for this already, but it seems kind of quiet.... maybe everyone would like to join that one? No pressure, but if so, here's the link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/47-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k- I think I'll…

Completed W3D2 today and it was a bit of a struggle.... maye because I did squats yesterday? Whatever the reason, I really had to talk myself into continuing on both of teh 3 minute runs. I made it and I'm glad its done. I sure hope that D3 is more like D1 than D2 though!

I'm no expert, but my muscles in that area are sore a bit after C25K workout, so I think its probably normal, especially if you are anywhere near as out of shape as I am. My muscles don't know what hit them!

Hi! I'm a new runner myself and in Week 3 of the program, so I don't know that I can answer any of your questions, but I want to say hello anyway, and welcome to the group! I'm losing weight while running, combined with eating in my calorie range, but I'm in a different place in my journey than you are and still have lots…

Um, totally jealous here. I ran three minutes straight today and was darn proud of myself. You are amazing! I'd say that is a victory indeed. Well done!

If I have to pick from one of those, then calories too low. I'm behaving like I have a horrid case of PMS, but the timing is all wrong for that. My sleep hasn't really changed, I get 7-8 hours a night.
-
Oh my gosh, you are so sweet to say that about my profile pic. Most days I feel far more frumpy than beautiful, but I'm working on it! I think so? But I'm not absolutely positive. MFP put me into 1200 calories which seems like way too little. I over rode that and set it at 1350. Most days I eat a little under. Is that…

This, exactly, for me too (or close enough, I "run" at 4.2 mph). Once I can keep my feet running I'll work on moving them faster. Or farther. I'm ok with that -- so proud of myself for doing it at all!
-
First run of week 3 for me today and I am proud of myself for making it through. I run at a turtle pace, but I'm ok with that.... I'm not racing anyone and I think that its more important to be able to get through it right now and psychologically know I can do it than to do it with any kind of speed. I'll work on speed…

Thank you Siannah. I just joined!
-
I'd love that! All of my running friends have been doing it for awhile and I can't relate to what they are doing running-wise.
-
Thank you so much for the helpful advice and insight everyone! There's a running shoe store not too far away, so I'll make a trip soon and see what the folks there recommend. (giggling to myself because catanzca said that I AM a runner. Tee hee!)

I can't see your photos and don't know how to fix them, but congrats on your progress!
