  • OMG, where do I start? I work in customer service. People in my business are the dumbest, most inconsiderate people ever. Makes me wonder how some people tie their own shoes.
  • While I realize the type of jogging I do isn't near as hard as actual jogging, I do jog in place with my Wii fit. I do about 10-15 minutes, and it doesn't seem to bother my knees. It's more my calves that scream in pain, but it's a good pain.
  • Thanks, I really appreciate all your honesty. You all played a small part in my decision making process, and for that I say THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping me find my strength again.

  • I appreciated all of the input I got. So if anyone is interested, here is an update. I have decided against the surgery. Several reasons played a part in this decision. One was that I was losing sleep over it. My biggest thing was that my husband did NOT support this. At the time when I signed up for this free surgery…

  • I have been seen by the doctor a couple of times already. The objective to that was to see my health history, (ie signs of depression etc..) Today is the pre-op, where I get the diet restrictions until surgery on the 3rd. I have heard nothing but positive comments from patients of this doctor. A friend had the surgery, as…

  • My son had to watch a movie called Super Size me, and since then he won't even get a drink at McDonalds. Hahahahaha!!!
  • Starting weight was 249, current is about 213. I'm old enough to be your mother, but hey, we share a common goal, so feel free to add me too.
  • Eat in moderaton, and try to stay relatively busy so I don't munch all day long. Figure I'm going to be busy enough in the kitchen with prep work, I might burn a few calories.
  • You are absolutely stunning! Way to go!!
  • I have been told I resemble the girl that played Mary from 8 is Enough. (Only you who are in my age group might remember that show) I do see some similarities. My son who is 14, is often mistaken for Justin Bieber. It is hilarious going places with him. He is inevitibly mobbed by girls who think he is Biebs, and gets very…
  • We have an old house, and it's not very well insulated. I live in Illinois, so we've been known to have a few cold winters!! Typically what we do is wrap our pipes with insulation (stuff you can get at Lowe's) Seems to work pretty well for us. Our kitchen sink is on an east wall, and there are times when we open up the…
  • I remember being in 5th grade or so...we had to stand up and say our middle name. I was horrified at the thought, and I was right. After school everyone kept asking me what my middle name was, and why was it so stupid. I tried to explain I was named after my grandma who was one of the first female CHP's, and it still…
  • Nope, never liked my first name or middle name for that matter. While it isn't rocket science to pronounce my name, apparently it is to spell it. I have spent years having people ask me "Is that with two R's?" No, it's one R and an I. So it's Shari? No, E-R-I. Sherry? Sigh, I give up. So now when someone asks me, is that…
  • My son is 22 and still attending junior college. He made some bad choices, and has had to sit out a few semesters due to those choices. He was working at a local company (same one his dad worked at) and was making some pretty decent money. He was there over a year, then out of nowhere they let him go. They were doing…
  • Yes, all of your responses has hit close to home. I know that over eating will not solve all of lifes problems, only cause regret, which will only add to the already stressful situation. Today I'm off to a good start though, and hope to keep the momentum going. Thanks again for all the great words of support. I'm moved…
  • Thanks everyone for the overwhelming responses! I am crying as I read your posts just knowing people understand. I had a good day today so far, have eaten very healthy, and took my 17 minute walk. Thanks again for all the advice. Helps just knowing people care. Hugs.
  • THIS!!! ^^ Our school (high school, more specifically) has a new p.e. teacher, and apparently having been overweight, he is trying to stress the importance of diet and exercise vs. bad choices, no exercise. While I know my son doesn't have this issue since he is in football, I know the problem does exist for some people.…
  • OMG! You are fabulous! Very inspirational!!
  • Great topic!! I generally don't speak up if a child is acting like a hooligan. I will, like one poster said, move away (if possible) to avoid the train wreck. I too will shoot dirty looks, but I will not discipline another child if the parent/guardian is around. Some behaviors that child exhibit are "acceptable" to some…
  • I do. I just make sure to make allowances for it. I also use portion control as well as maybe and extra 15 minute or so activity. So lets say on a given day, I eat a banana for breakfast and a cup of coffee. If I want the "extra" calories, I will often opt for no coffee and maybe a lower calorie snack. Plus I will take…
  • Hey, midwest Illinois here too!! Got a Monical's pizza in my small town, and they are now doing $10 pizzas every Monday. Anything you want on them!! So Monday is our pizza night!!
  • Sadly, it's the customers that annoy the hell out of me. For example: Cashier's office is right across from the restrooms. Says RESTROOMS in big blue letters. People look right at me and ask, "Do you have bathrooms here?" Another example: Me: (to customer) if you will please sign this?" Customer: Where do I sign?" Me:…
  • potato chips are my favorite, but something I would like that haven't had in a while is a pecan mudslide from dairy queen. I'd skip lunch if I could have one of those!! Thank goodness I'm broke, otherwise I'd probably give in.
  • This is all so sad to me. I feel this is why the world is breaking down, is because we are not allowed to be who we want to be, that there's some expectation about how we "should" be. My own family has expectations of me that I find unacceptable. My sister will say there are certain things I NEED to do with my husband,…
  • I have lost 38 lbs and continue to drink diet soda. I don't drink near as much as I use to, have narrowed it down to 48 oz a day, and have eliminated caffeine. I drink over 100 oz of water daily. For me, the diet soda IS my sweet. It doesn't make me crave sweets, it's the thing that satisfies my sweet tooth. Granted, I'm…
  • Fabulous! You are so inspiring! Keep up the positive attitude and great work!!
  • I have a couple of artists that I'm embarrassed to admit that I like. Some of you might not know them, but those of you who do, commence teasing!! Barry Manilow The Carpenters Love the music. Can only listen to them by myself. Anyone who's with me makes fun of me.
  • You look amazing!! What a tremdous effort you've put in. You are truly an inspiration!!
  • ^^This^^ I'm doing exactly the same thing, walking every day and wii fit about 3 times a week. I'm down 40 lbs so far, so something is working. I'm sure I'd get better results if I amped it up a bit, but with my foot being in constant pain, I'd rather not do anything that is high impact. I can't do zumba or anything…
  • Yep, I'm about 30 min north of Champaign in a little town called Paxton. Feel free to add me.
