  • I used to use it for everything, now that I have a better idea of portion sizes I usually just weigh calorie dense foods. I do always measure my liquids as I am not good at eyeballing them.
  • Food scale. Not exactly a secret, but it's real eye opener when your 'correct portions' are almost double what they should be. Now that I've been at it a while I only weigh calorie dense foods, but it was oh so helpful in the beginning. And there is no 'bad' food. I have lost over 50 while eating what I like. I do eat…
  • I second this. Nothing weird, just carbonated water and natural flavours. I tried nestles version of it and it sucked compared to the pc version.
  • The sugar free syrups tastes nasty to me, so I either get the full calorie business in all it's glory of I have the room in my day, or I get an unsweetened iced passion tea. No calories and delicious.
  • Something good. Currently the vote Is split, either pea soup or poutine, either way homemade and awesome. We did our easter dinner last week and used the leftover ham for the pea soup.
  • Depends on the day. Usually 1, sometimes 6.
  • Pork chop in mushroom sauce w/grilled onion& garlic, little bit of rice and candied carrots.
  • They're worse if they belong to you. Today, mine fought over air while hiking in a forest full of clean air. On that note: SPRING BREAK. 2 weeks of this crap? Really?
  • If I'm going for no calories I like the iced passion tea, unsweetened. It's really quite tasty and I much prefer over skinny lattes, sugar free syrups taste bad to me.
  • Beer. Could drink a 12 pack of craft beer at 160 cals a pop to myself. Was very incorrigible and wouldn't feel a thing til I was black out drunk. Monthly work parties always involved the beers, shots, vodka gummy bears, and assorted junk food. Then I turned 26, got my first (and last) hangover and I stopped that. Obviously…
  • Maintain. I was at goal a few years ago and I stopped logging and watching my food/exercise. I gained a lot back. So this time my huge gift to myself is to stay at goal forever. 30/35 pounds til I am back there again. I also have a tattoo lined up, but I think I'm saving it til I have maintained for a year.
  • Superstore and costco for staples. Thrifty foods (sobeys) for produce until the farm stands open, quality foods for certain items that nowhere else carries. Whole foods is opening this fall, I've heard their prices are terrible. Vancouver Island, Canada
  • Same here. I went from 231-145 in 2013. I was 'dieting' and exercising like crazy. It wasn't sustainable. Went back to 215. Down to 180 since September, but I'm being more sensible about it and not doing things I won't continue to do once I hit maintainance.
  • There is so much more to life than just chicken. Have an adventure with your food. This is about a sustainable lifestyle change, so unless you plan on eating chicken and quinoa every night for the rest of your life, you'll need a lot of ideas. Pinterest is a great resource, you can find a recipe for anything there. I do…
  • I indulge in a mocha or a caramel Macchiato about once a week. Never nonfat, sometimes with whip, and no sugar free syrups(they taste really gross to me) If I'm low on calories I'll have an unsweetened iced passion tea. No calories and delicious without anything weird in it. Just yummy iced tea.
  • You are definitely crazy busy! I have 3 as well, they are 11, 7 and 6 months. Like you, I am basically in survival mode. My oldest is tracking for her school's dance Academy next year so we are at dance studio 4x a week and gymnastics 3x between the older 2 on top of pt and swimming for the 7 year old. The baby is fairly…
  • You're doing just fine. It will really mess with you if you expect a particular amount of loss consistently every week. If you look at it from a longer term, like a monthly thing it might make things easier. This week I lost 1.4 pounds, last week .6 pounds, the week before I lost nothing. But if I look at it for a longer…
  • Vacuum seal, give to coworkers, find places to donate. My work (industrial kitchen) does a staff lunch once a month and I always bake a few desserts for that. My local spca frequently does bake sale fundraisers, and I love doings cupcakes and cookies to help them. My kids always have home made goodies in their school…
  • Water, hot or cold with stuff in it. Some times I grind coffee and add that to hot water, I also like to add a tea bag or 5. Currently I like Starbucks passion tea, over ice and unsweetened.
  • 5'7" Highest weight-231 Current weight- 182 Lowest weight- 145 It's entirely possible. I got to my goal, then tried to maintain without mfp right away. 2 1/2 years later I found myself almost back where I started. Now I'm getting back to goal and staying there.
  • Hi! I have 3 kids, 11, 7 and 6 months. I have lost 17 pounds since Christmas, 32 away from goal now. I lost 85 pounds here in 2013 so I know I can do it, just need to stay there this time :) feel free to add me.
  • What an amazing difference! You look great!
  • Hi! Had baby #3 in September. I am 15 pounds down since Christmas, 47 from my highest ever, still about 35 from goal. Feel free to add me.
  • Hi! My little guy (3rd and last) is 6 months now and breastfed. I'm down 15 pounds since Christmas with 34 left to go. Feel free to add me :)
  • My current mini goal is to hit 179 by end of march, 5 pounds to go.
  • Breakfast was coffee and a pudding Lunch was was an English muffin with ham and a fried egg, a banana, and coffee Snack was a latte and this Chipotle cheddar noodle thingy that my husband made Dinner was 2 pogo sticks Dessert will be a float made with vanilla bean ice cream and locally made orange cream soda. At like crap…
  • Gets soggy if you wash it, so no, not clean.
  • For sandwiches and every day use I like silver hills' little big bread, 55 calories a slice. Alternately anything grainy with a decent protein count will do. For bread because I like bread, I make brioche and eat it hot with butter and jam. Also killer with a fried egg. Takes 8 hours to make and a lot of calories but oh so…
  • Full fat tastes better and is more satisfying. The only dairy product I don't have full fat is greek yogurt, only because it's hard to find 2% or higher, but it has a good amount of protein so I don't mind. Skim milk is water that's lying about being milk.
  • I love salmon, love love love it. We go fishing in high season, cut filets and also smoke some. I generally cover it in lemon wedges, salt and pepper and bake or grill.
