@mmultanen How much water did you mix with the teaspoon of salt? I've found that if I drink too much I get side cramps during my run. I've also noticed that I get diarrhea after sodium "dosing" (about 10-15 minutes after consuming, and as soon as I go it's gone, so it's not like a "for the rest of the day" kind of thing) .…

I've never used salt tablets. Where can I get them? What do I need to know about purchasing them? It makes sense that sodium is the problem, because by mile 10 I've sweat quite a bit. I tried drinking salted water but it didn't taste very good. I've also thought about trying to drink an extra cup of broth the night before…

Yeah, I love it enough to make it work every once in a while. And it's been a while!

Oooh, I had the fried cheese curds from Buffalo Wild Wings this weekend, they were delicious!!!

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone!! I have been doing a lot of pork rinds lately too. I ended up getting slim jims, salami, peanut/dark chocolate bars, Parmesan crisps, imitation crab, and cucumbers with ranch (made with full fat sour cream). I frequently fall into a food rut and need inspiration to get out of it! haha

Thanks for the clarification!! I feel better about things now

@KnitOrMiss What brand of K2 do you use? I've been taking magnesium and a D3 supplement for a few weeks, but because of this thread have started looking into the K2 also. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for the reference. What I gathered from it is that I shouldn't be worried about lack of carbs effecting my performance. But what about lack of calories? Does fat-adaptation mean that muscle cannibalism isn't an issue if I'm not getting enough overall fuel? (If this is thread-derailing I can start a new one to…

I've been feeling this way lately too, for about two weeks. My thing is: I'm marathon training. So running 30-40 miles a week and only able to manage getting down 1400-1600 calories (TDEE should be around 2000 and I'm only wanting to lose the last 5ish pounds). I get scared that if I don't eat enough, I won't be able to…

I've been doing lettuce wraps from 5 Guys a lot lately. I was also a little surprised when they asked if it was an allergy or not. Eventually I asked why they ask. They said it was because they change their gloves for allergies to eliminate gross contamination. I didn't even know touching a bun was enough to give someone…

Thanks for this! I've never even heard of K2. So I started a little research to figure out what it is and found this: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/12/16/vitamin-k2.aspx This states that K2 is not only essential for calcium, but also vitamin D. Guess I need to look into my K2 intake! Supplements…

I've been doing a bit of research on this the last couple days. What I've found is that the best salt to use is magnesium chloride (the epsom salt is magnesium sulfate). Here is a link to a brand I've heard is good:…

I suppose that depends on how big of crisps you want. Here's the recipe I was looking at: https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/salami-cheese-chips
-
I've also seen a few recipes where you melt cheese into a crisp. Just a mound of shredded cheese, maybe with some spices/seasoning, on parchment paper and bake until it's melted/crispy.

I have also had success with Intermittent Fasting in a 4-6 hour window. In addition to IF, I like to follow a LCHF (low carb, high fat) way of eating. I've found this to be the most satiety way of eating for me.

https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes/bread I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but I really want to!! I also love there is a section about understanding low carb baking. deitdoctor.com has been a huge inspiration for my low carb eating.

So after reading this thread yesterday, I was in the store with my BF. Walking down the baking aisle to get to the dark chocolate chips, I could definitely smell all the sugar. I laughed and told him about this thread. Apparently it's something he has always been able to smell, since he doesn't eat as much sweets as I used…

I've become more sensitive to the smell of fat. I know I used to smell fast foods joints, but it's more intense and delicious now.

I agree, I love the numbers!! Understanding fluctuations helps me not freak out over them. If I don't weigh every morning, I'm constantly wondering about it all day.

I find that planning for higher calorie days really helps, instead of eating too much because of emotion. That way you can be sure it's worth it. And like lulaacroix said, you can eat a little less leading up to eat and/or exercise a little more. Once I took the guilt out of higher calorie days, they stopped derailing my…

I'm on the black coffee/IF train!

I'm on the last 5-8 pounds. I'm in a similar boat to @midwesterner85, trying to lower body fat to aid in running performance. I'm currently at 24% (female) and trying to get down to 20%. But I have a few more races planned this year (total of 5 between May and September). My "strategy" right now is LCHF, IF 18:6, and lift…

There have been a couple men at the office that have noticed (I'm female, despite my username haha). So they always say something like "Sorry if this is too forward, but you look great!". One of them said "great job! but you didn't really need to lose weight". I usually giggle, blush, and say thanks.

Other thoughts for vegan friendly protein sources are grains like quinoa (11g per 1/2 cup) and amaranth (7g per 1/2 cup), and legumes like black beans and edamame (both are 8g per 1/2 cup).

I've always had this same question about the hips. Depending on where I measure can change the result by an inch or two. So according to this you go off of the hip bones? Would that be about midway down my butt? How would saddlebags be included in those measurements?

I've found that as long as you're 100% honest about the details of your run, MFP is accurate. If you on a treadmill and standing on the side rails, don't count that as time running. Use the database entry with the speed closest to the average speed of your workout; if 10 minutes is at 3mph and 10 minutes at 6mph, then I'd…

I had a similar experience this week. Felt awesome, my workouts were on fire!, then crash; headache, fatigue, nausea. Followed the suggestions on here to increase sodium and it cleared right up!

Thanks for the responses everyone! I'll see what I can do about getting a video to post.
