You have to be careful about the water/salt balance... if you drink LOTS of water and consume little salt, you can get water poisoning. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16614865/ns/us_news-life/t/woman-dies-after-water-drinking-contest/

I understood that, and that's the way I am loosing too. I just put that up as a FYI *if* you wanted to use the same tactics they do if winning meant that much to you that you were willing to supplement your honest weight loss with some temporary last minute tactics.

Also, try googling wrestler weight loss tips. There might be something there you can try, if you want to go to that extreme to gain the edge back. Some last -days-before-weigh -in tricks involve lowering water consumption, food consumption, and clearing out your bowels using gentle natural laxatives, and sweating to loose…

The only thing I can say is that next time there's a challenge like this is to make sure the 'rules' stipulate that weight loss more than x% of your total loss can't happen in a 1 or 2 week period, and that there is a 'maintenance' period of a month or two where the winner needs to maintain their last weigh-in or lower in…

Something with ginger. I know it's not the healthiest, but when I was pregnant ginger snap cookies helped me.

If you have the space, see if you can get a small, cheap pan. hat will open up a couple more things. If you get cheese from the deli you can make grilled cheese sandwiches too. You can stir-fry veggies and meats, you don't have to have rice with them if you don't want. Also, maybe research backpacking cooking. I have to…

Well, technically not so. Different methods of cooking may remove slightly more fat than others. I would think meat in a sausage caseing would retain a little more fat than the same meat removed from the link, then cooked (or if the link was just sliced and then cooked). Yes, info like this is purely academic, since…

Seems odd, but after looking up a few quick things it looks like it may, or may not... in 3 instances it gains slightly, (1.08 to 1.09 times the number of calories) in one it lost calories...... I am not sure just how big of a sample they use and if they test multiple samples of the same items both cooked and uncooked. If…

Tacos, Cincinnati style chili. Cincinnati chili is great over whole wheat pasta!

I don't know if you'd be up to making this every night, but peanut butter makes an awesome filling for grilled jalapenos. Cut jalapeno at the top, core & deseed/remove membrane, poke hole in bottom with toothpick, salt lightly, pack in peanut butter, put on chile grill (or support upright with aluminum foil) and roast on…

We're planning one. Tomatoes, bell and chile peppers, asparagus, garlic, maybe some summer and/or winter squash, pickling cukes, basil, sage, mint, thyme, dill, cilantro, parsley.

I like Rome & golden delicious. You can always see what is currently available in your area at this time, then look up online their charasteristics. This week at my MOPS meeting we had organic farmers over, and as a side discussion mentioned how Red Delicious are popular mostly since they are a nice red color and therefore…

Check your local garden center to see if they have people that specialize in identifying insects/disease in fruit trees. Usually you can bring in leaves/fruits from the tree and they can tell what is wrong. Once they identify the specific problems, you can research organic solutions. I've done a quick google for companion…

I can't wait to start our garden! Starting from seed, make sure you google how to start from seed the plants you are planting. I have started from seed before and only found out recently that when you start tomatoes from seed you need to replant them a couple times, and actually bury them up to their first set of leaves…

Having the traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner, REAL traditional Irish soda bread, a beer and maybe a nice Irish whiskey if my hubby picks some up for us. :) Working them all into my budget, so it's all a matter of portion. :drinker:

In addition to the more nutrients in the whole grain breads, in general whole wheat bread is more dense than your typical store-bought white. Check the nutrition label, it will probably give you the calculated weight per slice (which may or may not be accurate). If you can pick up bread at a bakery, you might be able to…

I was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism about two and a half years ago. I'm at 50mcg levothryoxine/day. When I put my mind to it, and log my food, etc, weight loss is not overly difficult. I eat 1700-1900 calories/day and right now the only excersize I get is Zumba once a week plus chasing around a 3-year old and an…

Wraps, heavy on the veggies, or stir-fries heavy on veggies. With the stir fry you could also get in some whole grains with brown rice.

Google vegetarian/vegan chewable multivitamins. I found a couple that way, plus if you have a good size health food store I'm sure they would have some too. I think most were for kids, but I take kids chewable myself since for some reason it's easier to 'remember' to take those than regular vitamins....

I have a home scale that supposedly reads body fat, but it's way off. Check with your Dr. about properly calculating your body fat % and your calorie needs (especailly since you're breastfeeding). Also, if properly adjusting your calorie intake does not help with the fatigue, talk with your dr about the possibility of…

I'm glad they are finally debunking this one for good!

We're gardeners too... I'm going to be getting "All New Square Foot Gardening" book. It was recommended by someone here a little bit back, and has tons of awesome reviews on Amazon.com. Anything I can do to reduce the square footage of the aera I have to weed is good! I will be planting asparagus (though won't be able to…

Ok, I can't see your diary, but I was curious and made up something that sounds like a typical day for you. 2 fiber one bars for breakfast, beef and broccoli (actually one of the lower calorie items) and spring rolls from Panda Express, 3 slices of large peperoni pizza from Dominoes, and a 2.07oz snickers bar. Breakdown:…

So far, the stupidest thing I've ever done was to leave my scale on the stovetop while I was cooking something on another burner- my 3 year old let me know he had to go to the bathroom, and when I came back I found that I had turned on the wrong burner. My scale was all melty on the bottom and I had to scrape plastic off…

I use "Generic - Grapes Seedless (Red or Green)" - these words exactly. It matches the info for seedless grapes at http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/fruits-and-fruit-juices/1920/2 plus, it gives the info in 100g increments, so if you weigh them by the gram it is easy to input your exact intake. Say, you weightd out 143…

baked/grilled fish 'toast' pizza- whole grain bread, reduced fat mozerella, meatless sauce, veggies. I think if you google it there are also recipes that use eggplant slices as the base for the 'pizza' veggie stir fry sans rice (or with a little brown rice) whole wheat spaghetti (if it's mainly regular pasta you are…
