• Thanks guys. I usually use chicken as my meat and I have tried the frozen veggies (they aren't bad, just not real "fresh" tasting IMO). It just gets bland and my kids won't eat it. Also wondering, what type of oil should I use to cook the chicken? I normally use just olive oil with soy sauce, but I am finding I add too…
• [
Does your family do spicy foods?
My husband does. I like a little spice but not alot.
• Cool. Thanks guys. Chicken is usually our go to meat of choice. However, I am stoked to try shrimp. I could eat Chinese every day of the week, but I know it would be healthier if I learned to do it at home (plus cheaper).
• Ahh, didn't think about using quinoa
• That's great!!! I, too, struggle with having 2 kids and working full time. I haven't found my balance yet. I ordered P90X and I think I made it to the 2nd month. I am still puttering along. I just wish I could find my balance with work/kids/excersize.
• Where do you get tea tree oil? My daughter has battled lice for the last few years. It finally took cutting her hair short (like a pixi cut) and combing thru her hair every 7-10 days. We did this for about a month.
• I don't think I have ever wrote out my rewards. I am currently at 174 (11 pounds lost). I think, no scratch that, I know my rewards will be: 165 trip to the hairdressers 155 get a mani/pedi (never had one. but always wanted one) 145 Go to my favorite restaurant and order anything I want. Not worrying about calories, but…
• OMG, I so totally want to hang out with you sometime. That is awesome.
• As far as the discount thing, I don't care either way. It would be a nice gesture if the manager came up and complimented me on my kids and gave me a discount or something, but I wouldn't expect it.
• When I was younger, I waited tables at a buffet and also at a local pizza place. Both places you could consider to be "kid friendly". However, that does not give the kids free reign to act like heathens. I had kids run all over the place, make huge messes (I am not talking about a little food thrown on the floor, I am…
• I have done that myself. Today is kind of a reward day for me. I got into my jeans and boots today and I am going out to lunch today.
• When you reach your goals, do you reward yourself? If so, how? I have a reward in mind when I hit my goal weight (which is the big goal I set for myself), but for the small, monthly goals I set, should I reward myself? Do you?
• Excellent goals!!! I have gotten up each day this month and made my breakfast and actually sat down at the dining room table and ate breakfast with my daughter!! It was so nice to just take those 10 minutes to eat and talk to her. My son was in the other room watching his Blues Clues, so it was nice that it was just her…
• GREAT!!!! I hope you get there
• I understand what you are saying. But when I say "bad" food I mean eating a donut as opposed to eating a boiled egg and whole wheat toast. When I would eat a donut, I did feel bad afterwards. Not because I ate a donut, but because it didn''t sit to well in my stomach or it made me feel tired and drained. And I was hungry…
• All good goals!!! I had a friend of mine tell me that its really important to not set big goals, but to set smaller ones. Her reasoning was that if I set smaller ones, they are much more attainable and I wouldn't get discouraged and quit (which I have been known to do). And I can see her point. Setting these smaller goals…
• I have been making breakfast sandwiches: whole wheat english muffin, boiled egg, and a slice of ultra thin cheese. I had this today. So good. I have also been known to take a baggie of cheerios and eat it at my desk. Or boil an egg, take cheese sticks, or as an option, I have gone to Subway in the morning and gotten an egg…
• I went to applebees the other day and had half a sandwich and a cup of soup. 1100 calories!!!
• I bought a food scale the other day and almost had a heart attack at what really was a serving size or what actually 3 oz of meat looked like. Also, yesterday I didn't have anything thawed out and was kind of in a rush so I made hamburger helper and I measured that out with a measuring cup. I couldn't believe what a cup of…
• My son is already opting to eat the fruits better than the other stuff. He loves the multigrain cheerios and blueberries I discovered are another favorite. He still likes to eat ice cream with his dad, but I am gonna try and switch the ice cream for the frozen yogurt. I can't tell the difference maybe he won't either. My…
• We could be twins :) My birthday was last week, so just turned 37. The website was extremely helpful to me. I think the greatest surprise I had was Subway. Before, when trying to eat healthy, we would go to Subway for lunch. I would get a chicken terriaki and think I was doing so good and then I get on her site and was…
• You are welcome. I decided before I got into this that I was going to bring my lunch 3 times a week and treat myself twice. I am going to change that to only going out on Fridays for lunch, but anyway, even if I go out to lunch I can look and find the best choice.
• Oh and blueberries!!! I found out the other day my son loves blueberries. We were at his Aunt MiMi's house and her daughter was snacking on blueberries. He passed up everything else (ice cream) to eat those little blueberries. I am gonna deviate from the list a bit and get a kitchen scale. I think I had a handle on portion…
• So I am pretty excited to go grocery shopping tonight. The husband is going to stay with the kids so I can shop in peace, lol. I have my list made out and I have told myself that I will not deviate from the list. I just talked to my daughter and she told me to pick her up some turkey for her lunches. I also have on my list…
• I did talk to my daughter yesterday when I picked her up, and she actually almost jumped at the chance to have a turkey sandwich instead of bologna. I asked her about a snack, instead of cookies, and she suggested pudding or jello. So, maybe this won't be too difficult. As for my son, I don't think he cares, as long as he…
• My daughter is the exact same way. I don't want to harp on her about her weight, but if she had a choice of an apple or a snack cake for a snack, she will choose the snack cake. I hope I can correct her eating habits.
• I am re-thinking when I go to the store too. As of now, I usually go after work on Thursdays before I pick up the kids. It is always a mad rush. I try to sit down on Sundays and go thru all the ads and coupons so I know which store to go to that week. But I have been really slack with clipping coupons. I think Sundays…
• I did that with our Halloween candy too. They did not even miss it, lol
• Thanks everyone. These ideas are great!! I will definately take everything in and try all suggestions. I know I am hard on myself. It used to be if I failed at a diet, I would just give up and ***** and moan for 6 months about being fat until I tried another diet, or another activity plan. I decided that I am 37 and its…
• What about a package of the Keebler cookies? I can see my daughter picking this. that just seems like a lot for a snack? Do you put like a size quota like 1 bag of chips, or 1 box of snack cakes?
