This!! It's crack in a jar. As so many have said me + spoon + Nutella = bad news. I cannot bring it in the house.

Despite all of the rain in the Mid-Atlantic, I have gotten in some miles on a bike in the gym, and will log a few more before the week is through. I'll enter everything at that time. Hope everyone is having much better weather than us.

2 different answers: No other run - I would just make sure to get in my long run Race - easy mid-distance run

Please don't jump to conclusions about what I might have been drinking. Everyone is saying that "other" liquids count, and I am just saying that it is not necessarily true. For the record it was unsweetened brewed iced tea, which I used to drink by the gallon. As I said in both of my posts, it depends on a lot of other…

Not true...depends on a lot of other factors. If you read my prior post I was drinking water and plenty of "other" liquids and still got dehydrated.

I don't think "banning" fast foods leads to any further urge to eat them. I gave up all the big burger joints almost 25 years ago. Taco Bell was a non issue since I never ate there anyway. And I gave them all up because I thought they tasted like crap. Every couple of years I would have something and be quickly reminded…

I shoot for 64-80 oz every day. But maybe more depending on the weather, how much I exercise, etc. Biggest benefit is to your body function: roughly 60-70% of our body weight is water. It is essential to life. You can go many days with no food, but you can't do the same without water. Most people run around slightly…

Yep and yep. And that is why I usually try to stick to a "range" of calories instead of eating my exercise calories. Allows for that wiggle room.
-
That depends....100 extra calories per day over the course of a year is a 10# gain :-)

Blogged about this some time ago, and this is what I wrote: Did you know that by law nutritional labels can be off by as much as 20%? That's right, you could be counting everything and still be eating 20% more than you realize. Restaurant calorie counts? Not even regulated by the FDA. Those same counts also assume that the…

Of course everyone will run with the "15 minutes a day" and not read the rest of the article. I WISH just 15 minutes was enough - LOL!! Great link though, and it reinforces that all of my hard work is worth it!! I liked this paragraph... Exercising 15 minutes per day is a good start, especially if someone is getting no…

No one said anything about instant "replenishment." And every resource I have read/seen, says to eat something, with sugar, to help with post donation low blood sugar levels.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got, and that I find especially helpful around the holidays, is skip the stuff you can eat year round. So if you want some of your mom's extra special pie that she only makes around the holidays, splurge on that instead of a generic chocolate chip cookie. Unless of course the…

First, DO NOT attempt any vigorous exercise after donating blood. This should be your rest day. You might be able to get in an easy walk, but it does take a bit of time for your body to replenish itself. I was told that I would be a pound or 2 lighter after donating, but it's all water weight, or in this case blood weight.…

I posted this in a blog awhile ago. And just recently revisited it since the scale has been stalled. I have been weighing calorie dense foods and took it a step further and started weighing fruit. I was shocked to find out that what I was counting as a single piece of fruit, was more like two. So just by eating 3 pieces of…

Recovery days are important, but so is cross training. Use a couple of your "off" days for weight training, biking, yoga, whatever...your body will thank you.
-
Probably just water weight from travel/different foods. Two weeks is not nearly enough time to see any significant difference in muscle mass.

Congrats on your weight loss. I know 4 people that have had the surgery. And while initially it might seem to be the "easy way out," here is what I know about those 4 people. What I don't know is if there were medical reasons for their initial surgeries. #1. I never would have know if he had not had medical complications.…

I struggle with that almost every weekend!! I did manage to keep it in check this weekend and emerged unscathed. I think I may even be down a pound from Friday...which is huge. I have found that I can either drink or splurge on food, but I cannot do both. This weekend, I actually managed to find a pretty good balance. That…

They are all virtually the same thing. They are all carbonated. Sparkling water may or may not be naturally carbonated. The biggest difference is that club soda can sometimes, but not always, have a bit of sodium. It tends to to be a bit "milder" than seltzer. I used to drink "rose spritzers" (rose and club soda) all the…

52.75 in August...nowhere close to 100
-
100 for me again. Nowhere close last month. Will finish up my sprint tri training in 2 weeks, but then need to focus on running. I should still be able to get in at least one good ride a week and pick up a few miles here and there. Did 11.25 last night on the new bike!! 89.75 to go. Finally took it out for a ride. SWEET!!…

I completely agree with you, I usually eat a couple hundred of my exercise calories but that's it. If I eat them all...as I have been doing lately due to my training, I do not lose weight. None of this is an exact science, but I do know I lose weight if I stick to 1400-1600 calories, regardless of how much I do, or do not,…

I see the role of a trainer as being more about accountability. I did an 8 week group session in the spring and want to do it again this fall. I did see some difference in my measurements and strength and I got some great feedback on form and technique. What I didn't see though was a lot of weight loss. 80-90% of weight…

Not sure where I finished up in August. Nowhere close to 100 though. And September won't be any better. I still have 2 more weeks of my sprint tri program. Then I will be spending the rest of September and the first week of October getting ready for my 10 miler, so running will be my priority. Once I am through the 10…

I agree that I could probably taste the difference between a farm fresh egg vs. store bought. But the question was about cage free vs. regular eggs, both of which I buy in my local grocery store.

I buy both and quite honestly I can't tell a difference.

Since it's a nut/seed oil it should be fine. Not sure why you heard it was bad...maybe due to the amounts of polyunsaturated fat? It's natually occurring, so I wouldn't worry about it. Almost all oils come in between 120-140 cals and about 14-16g of fat per tbsp, so it's not like it is particularly high fat or high…

I'll do 5+ mile runs outside as long as it is 30 degrees or warmer and not "raw" or crazy windy out. It's actually very peaceful!!. I still do shorter runs on the TM though...by the time you really warm up, it's time to go back :-) I used to look at people running outside in the cold like they were crazy, and now I am one…

I was going to say this as well. As someone already said, something has to "click." I thought I was doing everything right, but my weight wouldn't budge. I was exercising and eating healthy, but the scale wasn't budging. I went to a doctor's appointment and even though I knew "calories in <calories out = weight loss" for…
