The FT4 is resistant up to 30m - swimming will usually exert much more pressure than that on your watch. I think the usual suggestion for a swim watch is at least water resistant to 100M. Maybe try calling Polar to ask for advice and tips and to see if they intended that item to be worn for swimming.

It's not simply the amount of calories you eat. It's also the quality of calories you eat. Do you eat enough fat and protein or are your calories mainly from carbs?
