Oh no, I hope you find treatment that works for you!

Thanks everyone for the advice!

This describes the extent of info I got from my doctor too. She also recommended to rest, but I've taken 2 weeks off and after running today, it hurt about as much as it had 2 weeks ago before the rest. I really want to be able to keep running. Maybe one lesson from everyone's comments is to check in with another doctor.

Got it. Thanks!!:flowerforyou:

OH MY GOD I love it. If any of you live in the Boston area and you ever need a dogsitter....

Thank you! This is really helpful. I'll start using my foam roller on my calves (I normally just roll out my quads, which are also tight). I've never heard of nuun and I'll definitely check it out! Do you think that it would make more sense to stop running altogether for a week or so (would that be long enough?) or just to…

I've actually been increasing distance really gradually. I guess I could be going to fast, though. You make a good point about wearing flip flops, which I've been doing all summer...I didn't even realize that it mattered what shoes you wore when not running, so I'll definitely have to change that, and wear only shoes with…

Thank you so much for your help! I actually ordered a pair of compression sleeves earlier today, and hopefully those will help, and I'll definitely ice! I do have correct shoes, but maybe I should have someone check my form to see if I'm heel-striking too much, or something.

PLENTY of trans-ladies have sexy sway. It ain't about their bones, but about who they are as women. So quit being an *kitten*.

It does get easier! If it hurts, it might be that you're pushing your body too hard too soon - thy slowing down, or try a workout that alternates between running and walking. Soon it will feel better!

I've felt better shirtless but it def makes sunscreen key. I'm loving the ice-under-hat idea, too.

I feel you. Will *not* be running for a PR tomorrow. Seems like there's a consensus about starting slow, so I'll definitely implement that advice.

Thanks much for mansplaining to me how hot weather works. I think I get it now but will make sure to let you know if any questions arise about whether running in hot conditions will make me feel hot.

I've seen ads for "arm coolers" that are supposed to help you keep cool, but it does feel counterintuitive. Anyone have experience w/these?
-
Thanks for all of your advice! I am curious about the products like the cooling vest and ice packs - I haven't tried anything like that before but would be glad to hear about people's experiences w/them. Thanks again!
-
thanks much! summer in Boston is normally not so bad, but it's been super hot lately.
-
same boat! Mine is just a 5k too but I am not used to running in weather like this.
-
in. could use help getting back on track!

I'm curious about how much weight to start with for the exercises in the 5x5 program. I realize there's going to be a *lot* of variation; but, what do you think an average 130lb woman should start with for these exercises? Or, what did you start with?

You are an inspiration. What race is the recent photo with the "Boston Strong" bib? I'm from Boston area too and am gonna run the Boston "Common Man's Marathon" this weekend. If you know of upcoming races that benefit marathon victims &c., let me know :)
