Check out Staci's story: http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/ This article convinced my wife to start strength training with me.

My wife and I get up at 6am 4 times a week and do strength training for about 60-90 minutes. The kids get up about 7am or so.

I'm trying to lose fat and gain muscle. I've just started with strength training and am in week 3 of a 10 week body weight training program (From the book You Are Your Own Gym). At some point I'll switch to using more free weights, but I'm starting with body weight exercises. I'm also just starting to learn to eat properly…

Isn't it, though? She IS a freakin' super hero!

I think you're right on target to focus on improving your fitness. I think that what a lot of us want, but don't necessarily even know it, is to feel powerful. As we've gained weight and lost control of our eating one of the important things that has been lost from our lives is a sense of power. If we diet and lose weight…

I don't know what your exercise program is like, but if you've lost a lot of weight through diet alone or with a lot of cardio, you may feel skinnier, but still feel weak. One thing that has helped me a lot lately has been to add strength training to my workout. It's only been 3 weeks, but I've not only lost some more…

Uh uh... mine just said: "Thursday."

I think it's awesome if you subtract the vibrating part and add in strength training.

Nice to meet you. :) If you haven't seen the articles on this link, they make for some good reading. I didn't find them until I'd been on MFP for a month, but I wish I'd read them on day 1. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10665-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition

My 38" pants are starting to get loose, but I'm not ready for 36" yet. Ultimately, I'd love to fit into 34"ers.

Here's a story that started to change the way I think about weight and muscle: http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/

Check out this book: http://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Your-Own-Gym/dp/0345528581/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333224218&sr=8-1 It's a program for strength training using body weight exercises with little or no equipment. -jd

I'm very impressed!!! Well done!

You might consider an incline trainer. It's like a treadmill, but you can either run on it or walk slowly up hill. I have one that goes way up to a 40% incline and it really, really gets my heart pumping.

Great pictures! You look awesome! :)

My wife and I have been married for almost 17 years and have a similar pact. It goes like this: If we make it to our 20th anniversary then we stay together forever. If I try to leave her before or after that anniversary she gets to kill me in my sleep.

My wife and I have been doing a strength training program at home from a book called You Are Your Own Gym. It's all body weight exercises with little or no equipment, although we do have a few dumbbells and a pullup bar in a doorway. This is week 2 for us and we're definitely getting stronger. Here's a link:…

I would so hit on you, but then my wife would kill me in my sleep. She's got these crazy "rules". :)
