Go to a running store. I spent a lot of time, pain, and money on different shoes last year. Once I got fitted, the pain went away over time.

I am 5'3. 133 and a size 4 or 6. Depends on the brand of course :)

I would say when I got to the 6 mile mark without stopping. That's when I knew I could do any length of run if I set my mind to it. I had done a few 5ks by that point. I have some friends that like to run 5ks on the weekend, when I passed one up for a 6 mile run, it clicked. I am a runner :)

Well said. I weigh daily as well. And I don't freak when it goes up. Actually today, I was up 3 lbs from Wednesday. I know why though. 2 days of eating crappy! Way too much sodium! I do agree that some can weigh daily and others can't. I use it to gauge food and how my body reacts. I am pretty much on maintence now but I…

I disagree with some folks above. I did it. Lost 14lbs in 2 months. It helped me started on this journey. It is NOT easy but if you stick to it, you will not have any regrets. I started MFP and Insanity at the same time. I couldn't follow the schedule every day, I did it every other until I wasn't as so sore that I…

I am 5'3. My initial goal was 137. I am 135 now and going for 130. I have a medium muscular build so I don't see myself going much lower.

I would suggest protein shakes with full milk? He needs to plan ahead for his meals. And eat above his TDEE. I bet once he gets used to eating more, it will easier for him.

Awesome work! Your gorgeous!

Awe. Thank u! I call it my wake up call :) I did call my doc, she said that it was probably from it bouncing when I run so if it hurts, I tape it. Somedays are worse but it's gotten A LOT better.

Yay you!!!! That is so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT! Physicians use the BMI tool to gauge health! Dumb! Take this as another example, a major US company is making it mandatory for any employee that has a BMI as overweight to take nutrition classes!!! What is next firing someone for a high BMI because the healthcare/ insurance companies view someone as unhealthy and a…

WOW! You are an inspiration! I had tears when I read about your daughter telling you about you being around for her to raise her kids.

Thanks everyone! I will check my receipt and make a trip up to the store this weekend. I may try some of the barefoot runners as well.

I haven't, I would like to but part of my regular run is gravel. So I am afraid

It sounds like it is PF. The good news is that it does get better. Once you see the therapist, go to a running store and get fitted for shoes. I dealt with it all last year when trying to run. Got fitted and it is much better. Good luck!

Hey Cait! I like to saute in veggie oil then top with parm cheese. You can also slice in thick slices, then marinate in itailian dressing (or anything really) and bake on grill... a few minutes on each side. I have lots of recipes since we had a squash/ zucchini explosion ourselves in our garden but most require baking :)…

I think you should adjust when you get to your first GW. If you are happy there, it may work for you. I have changed mine so many times. Heck almost weekly!!! My first was 140, then I moved down to 137. Now it is 130-135. Everyone is so different that it is so hard to put ONE number on it. Good luck!

I love how the majority of folks that replied did NOT lose boobs. I lost 24 lbs. I was huge (C) and I went down to a B. I really don't mind though. :drinker:

I don't have pictures but I copied my blog post from the middle of June when I reached my goal weight. It gives measurements and BF%. I was a size 8 when I started and am now a size 4 (US sizes)? I am 5'3 Hi Everyone, I thought it would be a good time to take my measurements this morning. I stepped on scale and it said…

I agree! More running equals more endurance then you can increase distance by 10% a week which will increase speed. Sounds nuts at first but the more and longer distances I run, the faster I get! Congrats! I caught the running bug last year and am now training for half marathon :) LOVE IT!
-
I have heard it does but not sure how much.
-
Personally, I would rather poke my eyes out than run on a treadmill. I have one downstairs collecting dust. I started with C25k last year outside and never went back to treadmill.

You got a lot of good advice and since I have never actually did a half... I will not give you lame advice! You will do awesome! Walk if u have to, sit down and cry if u need to BUT DO NOT hurt yourself if your hip hurts but I know you are ready! I know you were relived that that doc gave you the okay to run, so enjoy…
